Nice one OP

Elton John, ELO, Steely Dan, Billy Joel

Boston [Epic, 1976]

When someone told me that a group had achieved an American synthesis of Yes and Led Zeppelin, all I could do was hold me ears and say "Gosh!" C

Don't Look Back [Epic, 1978]

Debut pomposities having been excised, what remains is a pure exploration of corporate rock--the cliches carefully selected for maximum effect, while Brad Delp's tenor being too thin for nasty cock-rock distractions leaves us free to contemplate unsullied form. The fact that I occasionally find myself enjoying it must still mean there's some corruption at work here--true formalists, from Mallarme to bluegrass, leave me cold. B-

Third Stage [MCA, 1986]

A decade later, whatever convinced Tom Scholz to release this album certainly wasn't multiplatinum ambition. He's more like the pope of latter-day arena rock, crafting elaborately-woven textures and magnificent cathedral vocals as a purveyor of an art-metal thought long extinct. Not as bad as you'd think, nor worth giving a second thought to. C+

Everything Rocks and Nothing Ever Dies [1990s]

...

Van Halen - s/t
Def Leppard - Hysteria
Ozzy Osborne - Blizzard of Ozz

Phosphorescent Rat by Hot Tuna
One of the most underrated and under appreciated albums of dad rock.
all of the dadliest dads love Hot Tuna

Although it's incredibly dated to it's time period, I really like this album. Very nice proggy song writing while keeping a heavy edge and never getting too bloated or pretentious.

Based Scorpions

trips are right

Genesis' discography from 1970 to 1980.

Creedance Clearwater Revival

>Sib Hashian
Goodnight sweet prince

Easily one of my fav albums

This desu

the best ITT

>Elton John, ELO, Steely Dan, Billy Joel
That's more like mom rock, not dad rock.

that's really funny, really true, but I still super duper love all those acts (steely dan is dadrock though)

I just really love good songwriting, and Billy Joel was occasionally brilliant at that, and Bernie Taupin is a beautiful poet. I don't even care about the music as much.

Still sounds as fresh and mind blowingly bombastic as it did 39yrs ago.

Step aside niggers

May not be to heavy but it's the goat

this

...

Absolutely

My dad was more of a folk music sort of dude 2bh

Good lord you kids make me cringe

>folk music
Did he poke your anus with his penis?

go to bed dad

Objectively the GOAT dad rock album.

The future of das rock

I personally like the Police and probably consider them to be the best New Wave band all of their albums are great

I'll second these guys. Though I prefer their condensed studio stuff to their jams

I wanted to hate this album, but some of the non radio played to death songs are amazing

that's not even a rock album.

The Cars, Blondie, and the Talking Heads are pretty close, but The Police are right up there with the best New Wave bands for sure. Easily top 5.

...

oh fuck nooooooo

...

What would you consider "Mom Rock"?

And old Black Sabbath is of course GOAT dad rock too

>I'll second these guys. Though I prefer their condensed studio stuff to their jams
Nigga what the fuck is wrong with you?

low attention span. Closet poptimist. Sorry, but you have seven minutes until I want a change of song

Early Elton John was as much Dad Rock as Mom Rock...but bottom line...Its just great Rock and Roll. (coming from a Dad who bought the album when it was released and still has it and it plays perfectly still).

here you go

if you're a fan of early Neil Young you may like this

This record has a lot of tunes that I wouldn't consider any bit dad-rock. Come on, mate. Sultans of Swing doesn't make the whole album dad-rock.

Greatest debut rock album.

This x1000.

>the drummer that played on that album died today

My first thought when you mentioned dadrock

youtube.com/watch?v=pTvbXMRMnHo

Objectively great choice.

Just What I Needed is a fucking great radio rock song.

...

Why is this hack still alive?

I still listen to this masterpiece today, I think it's even better than Toys in the Attic.

most dadrock is objectively good music

>inb4 t. dad

Aerosmith are bro-tier guys that had genuinely good compositional and songwriting skills, but they fucked themselves with drugs because Columbia put huge pressure on them to become rock stars when they never aspired to Rolling Stones status, they wanted instead to be a slightly under-the-water AOR band like Black Sabbath or Rush.

...

>objectively good

nice meme

yep this is the objectively correct answer

just finished a steve miller 24 bit binge

best experience : listening to "the window" while moon rose on beach

Literally anything by the Who (when Keith was alive, of course).
This guy gets it.

Essential momrock: Anything by Stevie Nicks, Heart, Pat Benetar, and any rock band that were considered more heartthrobs than bad boys back in the day, (ex.: The Beatles, George Michael etc.)

Eric Clapton's one of my dad's favorite guitarists, so he naturally likes Cream. This is a good live album t b h.

They did proto-New Wave better than The Clash 2bh.

your dad is weird

I thought I liked dadrock since I mostly listen to 70's music but I hate most the stuff in this thread. Guess I have better taste then I thought.

this. The Police are incredible

Anything from Traffic. Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Last Exit, John Barleycorn Must Die and Mr Fantasy are all 10/10.

Traffic is awesome. Also, The Band.

...

Allman's are god tier.

THE GENERAL SCRATCHES HIS BELLY AND THINKS

>no the Eagles

you really don't know shit about dad rock, do you /mu?

What's the best Eagle's song and why is it Tequila Sunrise?

ELP hendrix the list goes on...

I can't forget that album cover since that netflix documentary.

>Boston drummer just died on stage after user made this thread

>not Peaceful Easy Feeling, Lyin Eyes, Already Gone or Desperado
All better songs.

For all the shit the band gets, 70s AC/DC is really great shit

Stooges obv are amazing and sorta dad

CCR is the greatest singles band of all time

underrated
