I need darker mathrock, stuff like Slint-Tweez and Hella. I don't want the kind of twinkly jangle stuff I want heavy. So far Massacre-Killing Time is really standing out as heavier. Any recs would be appreciated

Hot Snakes - Audit In Progress

I'm looking for stuff kind of like this
youtube.com
just a really dark atmosphere
King Crimson - Red
King Crimson - Discipline
King Crimson is one of my favorite bands, I've heard almost everything they've put out. The only song that really scratches the itch I have now is the title track off of Red.
A Minor Forest - Inindependence
I got you user
Moss Icon - Memorial

this is pretty cool, not sure how I feel about the vocals though.
You said heavy. I learned about them and "Bitch Magnet" from "Big Ups" you could listen to them. You could also try "Truman's Water" the vocals aint heavy with them.
Rodan is exactly what you need. Check out the compilation Fifteen Quiet Years, and their only album Rusty.

These'll do you good, man.
Oh fuck me how did I forget June Of 44.

Engine Takes To Water, and Tropics And Meridians are probably their darkest works, with little fun rock tracks thrown in there. Their masterwork, Four Great Points, also has darkness in it but it's mostly a menage of ideas.
I love June of 44's name it's a cool reference to the Normandy landings. At least that's what I think.
Yep I love Rodan too, trust me I've been searching for stuff like this for so long I think it wouldn't be possible to not have heard Rodan at this point.
Dazzling Killmen - Face Of Collapse
One of my favorites.
If you like Killing Time you need to hear Deceit by This Heat. It has a lot of math rock elements and it's very dark and heavy, even moreso than Killing Time
This seems like it's exactly what I'm looking for. thanks
We're in the same boat, then. Nobody nailed darkness like Slint, Rodan, some of June Of 44, and some of Shipping News' material. Been chasing that feeling for a long time, now. Best I can give you is Bare Minimum, Dazzling KIllmen, and A Minor Forest that I linked up there.
No problem. Just don't expect anything else like it.
surprised no one has mentioned Lite's Filmlets

Toe's book about my idol plot is great too, my personal favorite mathrock album
thanks man, the first one was cool. the second one was that kind of twinkly mathrock that I'm a little bit burnt out on
if by "heavy math rock" you mean mathcore, check out:
The Chariot
early Norma Jean
Botch
The Dillinger Escape Plan
I definitely do not mean mathcore, I mean mathrock less rooted in the emo side of stuff. Less jangly
Fair. If you ever do decide to check out mathcore though, give those bands a listen
