Top 5? Top 10?
AOTYSF Thread
Still need to give some more listens to Mount Eerie, Pallbearer, and The Spirit of the Beehive.
>Ryan Adams
Look, I'm probably the biggest Ryan Adams fan around, but this definitely isn't part of the album of the year discussion.
It's only march so...
Lyrics suck but the music is greatness.
True. I can agree with that, the lyrics are awful. I think the music is decent, but feels like he's sorta been stuck in a rut for the last 3 albums. I'm just getting tired of this 80s rock revival thing.
new pallbearer is pretty good but i've only listened to it once this morning. seems more melodic than their previous releases.
what is the second album?
Orly?
I really liked Prisoners, obviously, and S/T. None of it is as good as his older stuff, but I don't think we'll ever get a Cold Roses type album again. He kinda tried for a Heartbreaker with Ashes & Fire and it was not very good...
Wilsen - I Go Missing In My Sleep
youtube.com
Kinda dreamy sounding indie rock with female vocals, I really dig it. If you like Julie Byrne give it a shot, it's like that but more upbeat and with a full band.
Oh I mean I agree, I guess I just want more variety. Cold Roses is my favorite, but I just miss when every album he released had a different sound.
I'll check it out. Yeah I enjoyed that Julie Byrne album. Wanted to like the Laura Marling since i like her other stuff but it didn't hit for me.
My 7/10+ so far is:
7.5
Angles 9 - Disappeared Behind The Sun
Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau - Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau
7
The Pablo Collective - The Death Of Pablo
Stabscotch - Uncanny Valley
Priests - Nothing Feels Natural
Kairon; IRSE! - Ruination
Blanck Mass - World Eater
Max Richter - Three Worlds
The Necks - Unfold
EEEKS - Pet City
He's off drugs now which was the #1 source of that I believe.
What is the top left second album? I like its artwork.
he already answered that
any good ambient recs from this year?
>Unironically putting Death of Pablo on your list
But it's not even out yet..??
It leaked and it's on rutracker.
Visible Cloaks - Reassemblage
It's the 2nd album on my chart (OP)
I even played one of the songs on the radio
How is new Kairon compared to the other one
>Max Richter
Is that the guy from the Arrival soundtrack? (I know it's on other stuff too but that's the one that comes to mind first)
new Residents' album is great

...
Forgot to ask, could you please name top left, 1 right from top centre, bottom left and bottom centre? Thanks
>Max Richter
>Is that the guy from the Arrival soundtrack? (I know it's on other stuff too but that's the one that comes to mind first)
no, thats Jóhann Jóhannsson
Damn son, some nice shit you got there. Care to share your AOTY of 2016, 2015? Would really appreciate it.
>Top left
Wild Pink - S/T.
It's like late 90s/early 00s indie. reminds me of Yo La Tengo a bit or there was another band called the Rocketboys that sounded familiar.
>1 right from top centre
Elucid - Valley of Grace
Rap album, he used to be in Armand Hammer with Billy Woods
>Bottom left
Spiral Stairs - Doris and the Daggers
Ex-guitar player from pavement. Pretty catchy and uptempo.
>bottom centre
Wiley - Godfather
Straight UK Grime.
The Magnetic Fields - 50 Song Memoir
Angles 9 - Disappeared Behind the Sun
Lullatone - Thinking About Thursdays
DEK Trio - Burning Below Zero
Daniel Levin Quartet - Live at Firehouse 12
Fred Thomas - Changer
Arto Lindsay - Cuidado Madame
The Bats - The Deep Set
Ballister - Slag
I googled it. It is Max Richter, the song that I'm thinking of.
What'd ya think of the new Japandroids album?
Thanks amigo
...
Here's last years.
Haven't listened to it.
He was too busy listening to Ed Sheeran instead
Thanks, really appreciate it.
Some favourites of mine:
Ten Impressions for Piano & Strings
ennnnnnn.bandcamp.com
neatbeats.bandcamp.com
John Davis - Ask the Dust
crashsymbols.bandcamp.com
I'm obviously more into ambient/drone/experimental than anything else, but 98% of it is bad and boring. Hope you enjoy some of these.
I sure do love to torture myself. Nice dubs btw.
I'll check it out.
I really liked A Year with 13 Moons by Jefre-Cantu Ledesma from 2015 too which is more that style
>nice dubs
thx bebe.
I guess in that case you'd be Shitty-Album Rating Guy
I think Jefre's music, what he does, is a really good idea, pop and fuzzy drone/ambient stuff, but it's often too repetitive and it overwelcomes it's stay imo
But check this out
vimeo.com
Glass Stained Body is fantastic though.
50 Song Memoir is fucking 10/10
digging this so far. thanks user.
7/10
Agree with most of these, but I think the new necks is a 7.5 rather than a 7 (it's the best in their discography now imo).
The third disc didn't really hold my attention as much as the others, but it isn't bad by any means. I do like Stephin messing around with disco though.
Plus, Somebody's Fetish is the cutest song he has written in over a decade in my opinion.
still kinda wanna hear new gizz, mastodon, maybe dirty projectors
any recs?
emperor of sand is pretty dope. it's a mix between crack the skye and blood mtn.
try that Wild Pink record
