this albums is so fucking good. Catchy songs, killer riffs and great lyrics. I love how a song like 4st 7lb is upbeat and almost happy buy has the darkest lyrics. Is there anything like it?

This thread could have good, but it's now doomed to dissolve into an autistic political slapfight. Great job, faggots.

Is this album actually good? What type of music is it?

GOD DAMMIT Я IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE REPLACEMENT FOR R, IT'S PRONOUNCED YA

Really makes you think..

political music done right desu

it's hard to pin down exactly—obviously some sort of alt rock, and while it certainly 'rocks' it has a very 'thin', brittle sound; too weak for butch vig but too polished for steve albini. the u.s. mix of the album rectifies this to some extent, beefing it up to a more contemporary-sounding record but losing some of the uniqueness in the process. fwiw, this is the band's preferred version

however, the odd production of the original mix does serve the music well, and this is for sheer ambition alone a masterpiece of arrangement. in order to squeeze in every last one of richey edwards' schizo scrawl lyrics, james bradfield bends, twists and contorts the words into near unintelligibility, leading to a type of enunciation and emphasis that you usually never encounter in music otherwise as straightforward as this, and to some very unique vocal hooks. in spite of the crushing bleakness this is some of the catchiest, most replayable rock music of its era, and on a major label to boot

it's a truly singular piece of work

It's pretty good so far (listening to it for the first time right now). I'd definitely recommend it.
