Most of the defense is based on external shielding. The ships in Star Trek are fucked once those shields break.

Also the design is somewhat based on what little they knew from their scientific consultants at UC Berkeley. Even what they gleaned from them were very loose theories about what might be possible.

I think the point was you made a list that basically said "movies are better than TV" as though it weren't a universal truth that everyone was aware of.

Serenity would fall under acceptable for me, it was ok but felt like a rushed, obligatory cap for the tv show that ended too soon. Many plot threads were left unresolved, character arcs were finished abruptly and unsatisfactorily.

It was ok for what it was but I wouldn't call it genuinely good.
