We used to grow a lot. Now we don't grow as much, but we still make up something like 10% of rice exported in the world.
It doesn't grow as well in the North, and in the South, most states just moved on to less labor intensive and (I think) more profitable, e.g. in Georgia we grow tons of cotton and peanuts.

They do, I have some "Korean" rice which is grown in the USA.
Same variety the Koreans eat, presumably for the Korean-Americans.
