>needing to animated themselves to sell copies

fuck off, The Fall was good

good if you don't compare it to literally any other gorillaz project include the B-Side albums

They've been transparent in saying that's exactly what the Gorillaz experiment was about, it was due to how "manufactured" they felt pop groups were so they felt that manufacturing a pop group completely from scratch would be the ultimate conclusion to the way pop culture was heading and would be hugely successful and they were right. It also allows them to get away with changing singers constantly between albums to artists like Yukimi Nagano and Miho Hatori to represent the different characters

>making music on a large smartphone with shitty digital synths and drum machines instead of using real instruments and samples like their old shit.
Fucking Damon why

>Ascension is Hallelujah Money 2.0
>Saturnz Barz features a shittily autotuned Jamaican
>We Got the Power is generic feel good
>Andromeda is the only decent song shown and it's a filler song

>Ascension is Hallelujah Money 2.0
In what way?

Saturnz Barz is good, Andromeda is ok, Ascension is kind off a generic hip-hop track with nothing distinct, We Got the Power is a great sort of transition/filler track.

Political shit
>MUH OBAMA GLOCKS NIGGA KILL WHITE MAN

I don't know, I really enjoyed the minimal and intimate sort of feel The Fall had. However, judging by the new songs, Humanz won't have any of that, which is a shame.

They're all really good except We Got the Power tho

>Saturnz Barz is good
People keep saying this and I still don't understand why. Only the last third of the song with 2D is decent. When it's just Popcaan it sucks.

>Only the last third of the song with 2D is decent
High School white boy pls go

Isn't it high schoolers that love autotune shit though

It makes no difference anyway, if they didn't have the marketing they would've failed.

I wish they did songs where the "band members" were more prominently featured. in their older stuff it was usually "2D" or "noodle" singing and sometimes a rapper would do a couple verses.
now gorillaz just seems to be beats with random rappers and singers over them.

High school white boys would be into the rapping more likely.

I can understand Gorillaz featuring artists, and I love it when they do but this album really sounds like they went "how many people can we feature in a single album". Andromeda is the only one that sounds good right now

>now gorillaz just seems to be beats with random rappers and singers over them.
This so fucking much.

he doesn't like it

>older songs featured the band members but the featured rapper would start thus making the song great and memorable
I have a feeling they had the idea that older songs having this would mean that the new ones would be instantly good if they have each one with a featured rapper

Gorillaz has always been political

I thought he just demo'd out the songs on ipads, no? He has been working in real studios with legitimate artists for months.

Reminder that self titled was their best album and Gorillaz will never reach this peak again and all media interest in them will die out since their quality has been going on a steady decline since the release of Demon Days

I'm gettin' the fuck on, I'm aggrivated
I know I'll make it, Im in a place full of hatred
Treatin' my life like a sacrred
Try to check me, I break your neck
Disrespect me you get injected
It's hectic with some bullshit that happen
You least expected
We just don't accept it nigga
I go ahead, lift my trigger
Get rid of bitches, pay you a visit, then get your shit lit
I'm a nitwit with a big dick, and big balls
I don't miss shit
I hit all, whoever that did this
We Gonna Getch'all
Now whether its Sadam or Bin Laden
Thats been startin all this trouble for us
Creepin horrors doin show after show, sleepin on the tour bus
We lost Aaliyah, lost our families, it takes no Tenges
You dont need us to say the world is fucked up dawgs can see it
Now it seems the public needs this shit to calm its kids
Cuz they findin out how you lied about your twisted sins
They say we bad for you but shit our music is your friend
They cant deter you from the truth cause we the helping hand

From 911. 16 years ago

Why are brits so intriugued with American politics

because they don't have anything good or interesting in their own country

because the politics in their country aren't nearly as much of a mess and, therefore, less interesting

Because 9/11 is hilarious

Because Everyday Robots and The Magic Whip only sold like 20 copies.

Damon's a hack, bro.

Is Blur worth getting into?

Plastic Beach was p good. It's a shame they never put out a b sides album for it because the b-sides clips that have been released sounded even better than the album itself. I agree that s/t and semen days are the best

They did this in Plastic Beach and that turned out fine though.
What spoils it is if the styles of their guests take over the songs.

Do ya Thing is the best thing the Gorillaz have ever done. It's a shame Andre and James Murphy aren't featured on this album

Think Yukimi was just on as herself on PB, like the tracks were down as 'ft. Little Dragon' which is a shame as I would have liked it better if her bits were supposed to be Noodle singing.

Didn't the Miho Hatori tracks also say feat Miho? I thought Yukimi was supposed to be an older Noodle

Because they want to sell records to Americans.

Miho was credited in the booklet, but not the song titles

Wrong. I love how Americans are divided between those who think their country is the best, and those who think their country is the worst. One way or another, the world is always about them. Other countries only exist to be compared to America.

that doesn't mean their politics aren't a fucking mess

Not to mention the huge range their songs cover, they introduced me to a lot of types of music I wouldn't bother to look at when I was 10 years old

not really. worth a few listens but gets old fast

Ascension is garbage, we got the power was decent, the other 2 were good.

No album will ever top demon days

the fall was better than plastic beach and self titled. the musician matters more than the instrument.

>the fall was better than

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA

>Ascension is garbage

what are you, 12?

Maybe it'll grow on me like some of their other tracks

Has anyone ever seen them live?

Was it a good show

Gorillaz (2001):
>3/15 songs had feat artists

Demon Days (2005):
>7/15 songs had feat artists

Plastic Beach (2011):
>12/16 songs had feat artists

Humanz (2017):
>18/26 songs has feat artists

It's okay, more punkish, but Damon Alburn (may have misspelled that) has a ton of great solo and side projects stuff. I highly recommend that.

Blur is like Gorillaz without all the shit

>the fall was better than plastic beach and self titled
i cant believe someone could genuinely think that

>ALL MOY LOIFE

I think I'm too white to listen to this music

He's right you know. The Fall is essential comfycore

I saw them for the Plastic Beach tour
10/10 show, giant visual projection, the stage was a constant lit party off all genres (Damon, orchestra, rappers, musicians, singers, etc.)

Uuuh, yes. If you like the debut Gorillaz album then definitely. Be sure to listen to Leisure, Modern Life is Rubbish and the self titled. They're all quite different. Then go from there.

>comfycore
>last track is an annoying sound effect

dont worry m8, I'm into reggae and rap, but this poopcan guy is shit

joplin spider as well
sounds like Jabba randomly hitting his dick on a toy keyboard

>normalfags really like it
>Sup Forums is split
>implying I browse reddit to know what they think
>fantano doesn't like it because "it doesn't sound like gorillaz"
>scaruffi will obviously hate it
>i like it
am I a normalfag

So self titled is the only one with more featureless songs than Humanz. Got it.

Shut the fuck up and think for yourself. Goddamnit I hate posts like yours. Think for yourself and take some confidence in that. Or alternatively, just stop, any fucking time. No point in staying around if you're gonna fucking sit and ask what other people think to make up your own opinion you fucking sheep. What other groups think doesn't matter you tool, god damn

Maybe you should stop caring what people on the internet think you fucking normie

Such a shame. If you thought it was shit then that would have meant you had superior taste like the rest of Sup Forums

>It's a shame they never put out a b sides album
>We'll never get the song from Russell's PB intro

youtube.com/watch?v=CXcUKun5xk4

They removed 2D's vocals for some reason

yeah listen to this

shit, I wish the vocal was complete, interesting track!

We can't expect them to top their early stuff, but I think it'll be a decent project. The singles aren't amazing, but they aren't that bad. Just different.

>listening to their 6th album first

Fucking hell what is wrong with you?

Haha dudes im not influenced by anyone xd

Better than plastic beach, sure. But S/T is fairly superior.

13 and Think Tank are their only worthy albums

>Gorillaz (2001):
>3/15 songs had feat artists

Not really. The whole album have uncredited collaborations.

was this man on Tim and Eric?

>[OWL MY LOIFE with heavy autotune starts playing]

WHAT THE FUCK WAS DAMON THINKING?

so is the new album out yet or what

The MCs on 911 are American. It's D12 you dipshit.

We Got the Power is some ear candy.

Good stuff, kinda reminds me of The Flaming Lips.

Also Hopefully a B-side of Saturnz with slightly less rap.

Do you guys remember when Gorillaz had good lyrics?
Those were good times.

>he didn't get the cool shoe-shine

oh, so you're just retarded. that makes more sense.

He's not wrong about the track being trash, but he's wrong about the reason.

Gorillaz was always innovative, unique. The new tracks are generic trash you make with an iPad.

ye cuz with every band its necessary to start with their first album and go chronologically even if it isn't their best work

brb listening to Please Please Me

who are the 4 people on the cover supposed to be?

I thought Russ looked like Black Thought, and Murdoc is kinda like Lennon

Fantano is a normalfag, so don't worry

>Damon plays around with an iPad while on tour and decides to release what he made
>suddenly everything Gorillaz is iPad music

am I the only one who thinks that Murdoc looks just like Lou Reed in that cover?

If you take out the intro and interludes that leaves 1/19 actual songs without features, so no, the debut isn't the only album with less features.

way to miss the fucking point goddamn

>that slam against POTUS
oh for fuck sake you write pop music get the fuck over yourself and your fucking effete scarf. also fuck whitey music is garbage with blacks who make money trying to play the victim to the system that gets them away from their own shit communities
>inb4 go back to Sup Forums
fuck that I grew up in shitcago I know how it is

Go back to Sup Forums

Profit Margin

the people writing the political raps on Gorillaz songs are typically American.

>I grew up in shitcago
that's an interesting way to out yourself as a negro
