Green Room

I just watched the film Green Room.
What did Sup Forums think? The first half was better than the second and got a bit repetitive near the end.

Imogen Gay Poots is a cute

what did OP think

it's a good bad movie

It was about 7/10 for me. It set a really good atmosphere and unique tone which is great, also the score was very good. Usually ambient scores in films can be cheesy but it worked well in this, as it contrasted the aggressiveness (and also the punk music playing). Also what was cool about the music was the way background music that the punk bands where playing was a lot darker after the murder.

That being said the whole, build up courage-leave room-people die-return to room, got a bit repetitive. And i feel the ending was a bit flat. Also the desert band dialogue motif was a bit too cheesy

its a movie that wants to make a point with gore and you didnt comment about it at all. the movie failed

I just finished it as well, we probably watched it around the same time. It was fun, although I agree the first part was a little better.
I loved the little exchange poking fun at horror tropes: "Maybe we should split up" "Totally.."

>wants to make a point with gore
what point would that be?
>the movie failed
useless comment, unless you explain in detail why you think so.

>I just finished it as well, we probably watched it around the same time.
Could it be that we're soul mates?

gore was the only memorable part of the movie. I guess the girl with the big eyes was memorable too

Or maybe we're a schizophrenic.

I feel like it's about as a good as a "serious" grindhouse type movie like this could be. I liked it, and I love punk music and the kinds of films that inspired it, but it feels almost like it lacks something. The film itself is not very punk if you know what I mean. It is smart and has good dialogue but it doesn't explore anything beyond its surface and none of the characters, even though they are mostly interesting, are developed at all really. Also the story itself gets really muddled and sometimes feels repetitive and lame. But it's still easily a good strong 7/10 for me

I don't know what I would rate it number wise, because I feel like ascribing a numerical score to signify the quality of something is sort of arbitrary, but I do agree with everything you said. I really like the movie, might be my favorite movie i've seen this year so far, but the first half is a lot better than the second half.

In addition to your criticisms, I also was a bit underwhelmed by P-Stew. Everyone hyped him up to be fucking terrifying but he wasn't really scary. I don't think it was a bad performance, but don't understand why he was being so hyped. He was just a really pragmatic and ruthless dude.

The gore was really well done and definitely had an affect on the audience, but the same thing happened that happens with every other gore movie; the movie goes on, the audience gets used to the gore and brutality, and after the first 2 or 3 times something gross and fucked up happens, people stop getting as affected. I saw the movie last week, and so far the gore that sticks out to me are:
Anton's (rip) arm, Justin's disembowelment, Tiger's throat rip, and Mark Webber getting headshotted

Leddit the movie

Hello, Reddit!

When Anton pulled his arm back through the door I felt the pain. And Patrick Stewart was really bad as a nazi group leader

yeah, i actually got a bit confused with the two of the nazi members. I feel like the dialogue was almost too 'hollywoody' sort of. The way the paintball story and the desert band thing was a bit out of place with the serious tone

>got a bit repetitive near the end
True.

It builds up well, and it's quite chilling... Wich perhaps adds to the impression that it develops towards an unsurprising ending.

Despite it's merits it left me with a strange feeling of insatisfaction when it ended...

It was aight. I heard good things about it so I finally watched it....meh.

The thing that bothered me the most was that I didnt give a shit for most of the characters, so their deaths didnt really have an impact on me, also im sorry I know its a movie but those have to be the most retarded skinhead death squad I have ever seen, they just go one at the time instead of just rushing the fucking place.

I felt like the director had to get rid of half the cast fast and sort of rushed the ending.

I mean, show me SOMETHING about the bad guy, the whole final act with him snappin was pretty cool but I feel like I watched that before but I cant remember what movie.

All in all dont go expecting too much, if you are willing to get past the skinhead retarded tactics its a nice movie to kill time.

It felt like the script was holding it back, but they either had no time/money to shoot it.

The good thing I would say direction and tension are pretty good, but like I said I only sort of cared about the main guy by the end.

Are there any sex scenes in this movie? If there are, how bad are they?

None.

I really love Alia Shawkat so this movie had that going for it, and a great performance by Patrick Stewart. Also that arm scene was burtal.

>I also was a bit underwhelmed by P-Stew
>And Patrick Stewart was really bad as a nazi group leader
Now that I think about it they could have developed his character a lot more. I think it should have expanded on his ideologies with 'the movement'; that being said if it had of done that it might have been cringy/preachy

What i did like was that in Patrick Stewarts room there was books on the bookshelf behind him (which indicated he was versed in Nazi literature) and an outright Nazi flag on his wall

there was no reason to develop Stewart's character. It was a role any random nazi looking guy could have done

she's a qt

Those two sentences aren't even connected

is that the first time picard has ever done an american accent?

the point was that it didnt take a talented actor to play the role so he was wasted talent

>LE FIRST HALF LE SECOND HALF LE THIRD ACT LE ENDING

Sup Forums has absolutely no fucking idea how to talk about film. Holy shit this is fucking embarrassing. Every fucking thread about every fucking movie this shit

I didn't really understand what happened to his arm, did they just grab it on the other side of the door and start cutting??

solid contribution

>>LE FIRST HALF LE SECOND HALF LE THIRD ACT LE ENDING
>Sup Forums has absolutely no fucking idea how to talk about film
Dude, chill. I was just saying the first half was better

Great post. Doesn't take much to convince yourself you're the smartest guy in the room, eh?

Tell somebody who gives a shit.

Was the guy who had his arm mutilated gay? He acted very faggy.

I was confused too. I guess they just grabbed it and stared sawing at it with a knife?

Well they were talking about how skinheads would hate him in particular, but didn't they say something about him being jewish? if not then yeah, he was probably gay.

i think they just hit his arm with a machete a couple of times

they hacked at it with the machetes they had

It was a pretty realistic portrayal of a punk show aside from the fact there was a crowd and there were green rooms. I'm glad they didn't go hollywood with the music.

the part where she cuts the guy's stomach is stupid. why did she do that?

ah, right.

The injury didn't seem to bother him much for the rest of the movie, which was kinda weird.

to kill him

to see whats inside

haha, yeah i know. When it happened i thought 'fuck how can he die, he's the main character'

What's your desert island rock band, Sup Forums?

must have been in shock

youtube.com/watch?v=rpRK1t-30L0

for like 5 hours? At some point u start feeling pain even if he adrenaline kicked in first.

how long did it take for the pain to kick in when your arm got cut up by machetes?

I thought it had even worse plot than Blue Ruin which is a feat in itself.

usually goes like this: Instant pain as the injury happens, body releases pain relieving chemicals while shock and adrenaline kicks in, then when it ebbs away it hurts in pulses until tended to.

destroyer probably

>tell it to someone who gives a shit

Ween

yes but anton yelchin is a ghost that cant feel pain anymore

Man, Anton was dating Pootsy before he died.

Just fucking imagine dating the prettiest girl in the whole goddamn world; your career is taking off majorly; probably living one of the best lives. Goddamn.

should have swapped the deaths of the chick bass player and jiu jitsu to keep him in the game longer, while still having the brutal few deaths in a row

>prettiest girl in the whole goddamn world
ayyyy lmao

Was he really dating her I thought that was just rumors.

In my opinion :^)

I heard she's single now so you got a shot

...

Rate the band members

chokehold dude > short guitarist grill > yelchin > lanklet singer

are we rating them based off their musical talent?

There are several moments where people are absolutely fucked.

Reminder that had he stayed inside and played vidya & his dick he would be still alive today
NEET life wins yet again

he wouldnt have been dating poots tho

...

I'd die to date Poots for several months

This thread doesnt have nearly enough pootykins

is she in any good movies?

>several months
Apparently they were dating since 2011
imagine 5 years with gaypoots

So did she even saying anything about him dying?

she's better than that. I don't know anything about her but she doesn't seem the type to air everything to the public

from her insta

I supposed so seem like every celeb on twitter was trying to get few sympathetic points when he died while I haven't heard a pip from her probably paying her respect to her bf family in private.

Also I'm really surprise not actual gay.

Fuck spoke to soon. Well atleast Anton got to dated her for a long time before he died.

at least she didn't post some stupid ass spiel

>That look
YOU JUST KNOW
O
U

J
U
S
T

K
N
O
W

everybody knew

At least it's Anton. Dude seems pretty cool.

Yea you're right a pic of them is okay I guess at worst she could be spamming up on twitter on how much they loved each other and they were soul mates for sympathetic attention.

Also now that Anton dead she will probably go back to fucking Juno temple or something.

How much anti-Nazi propaganda is in this

surprisingly none. i thought the film would be preachy but no, all the nazi shit was cool

...

Nothing special, it was meh and a bit shit at times.

typical neo nazis in rural Oregon

this seems cold

>seemed cool

ftfy

I'm pretty sure that they weren't dating. They've been in various films together so they did press together and had outings due to that

>posting on instagram when mourning
>emojis and a hashtag

...

I wonder if they fucked while waiting for the cops
>tfw no neonazi slut to waif up

his character was a gay

was he?

also the whole zipping open the stomach of a the big skinhead guy should have been a bigger moment, with more of the bandmates reactions. That was kind of the first violence they did, so yeah.
we can hope

pulling knife out of head was the first violence, then broken arm, then cut up arm, then stomach. i think

the stomach thing seemed so out of place. like, such a disgusting thing for her to do out of nowhere and no one reacted

Blue Ruin was better

>Also the desert band dialogue motif was a bit too cheesy
I think it was self-aware considering the ending

>mfw these neo-nazi movies are a reactionary response by liberal movie makers at the fact that conservative movements are making a come back in the west

>stormweenie gets triggered because there are white villains in a movie
LIBRUULLLS STUPID LIBKEKS CAN'T YOU SEE THE NAZIS DID NOTHING WRONG? THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE GAS CHAMBERS? 10,000 JEWS DIED IN THE HOLOCAUST AT MOST

like, way better

what kind of shoes is she wearing?
