Gore, skeletons, violence and satanic shit all giving the feel of being drawn by an edgy 15 year old, with a convoluted band logo that tries too hard to look cool

No such thing. The album art is a part of the aesthetic reception. Thereefore, if the album art is terrible, the album itself can be mediocre at best.

I got this album solely based on the cover. I don't this it's metal, per-say, more punk or half & half but I remember it was about 15 minutes long and the songs were about a minute or so. Made me laugh...

Especially compared to their previous effort with the crushed egg...

I had to change out the cover with a generic black & white photo of the band on my ipod just so I could get into the music. Weird how that irked me so. But it did. It's a decent album though but damn that cover.

They kind of have the same sound to me. Same vocal mixing and styling, same punchy mix and slick production. I'm guessing because they both had decent producers in high end studios. I think Marillion recorded at Hansa if I recall.

It's just that, to me, they lacked any substance even though there was a "story" to that album it comes off empty. Not to say Duran Duran was any better but at least the imagery was interesting. Especially with the Arcadia spin-off.

That Marillion album cover is truly atrocious.
I blame the drugs when somebody thinks that was a good idea.
