>clyp.it/1leh0pye to whoever posted this clyp in the last thread: i really enjoy how it sounds. is that an 808 bass you're using? and are the other instruments sampled, vsts, or what?
Christian Foster
rec mic for under 60$ mu
Matthew Jenkins
clyp.it/fqe5raeb what do you guys think of this? Isn't clean yet but thatll come eventually. Still feeling way around how i want to put it all together but there are a lot of things to mess with. Haven't even started thinking vocals or anything yet
It's the korg legacy collection for win, both x86 and x64 versions. I uploaded this for a friend but I decided that you faggots might need this in your life. You're welcome.
Liam Bell
that's useless for me cause i'm on mac but cheers anyway, you're a good guy
>clyp.it/1leh0pye Wanted to say how nice this is. Neat use of the sample.
Hudson Robinson
clyp.it/wz1gvn43 >footwork-ish love u guys u need a way better/louder kick, way softer/less generic clap, and a way better lead synth both of these are cool but kinda generic. feels like you're using like "bones-type" trap sample packs
Do any of you sing/vocalize on your tracks? I really just want to use my voice as an additional instrument to be processed, but it's something I've never done before and to be completely honest, I get embarrassed when other people hear my voice on a recording (or any of my work for that matter).
when did you decide to start uploading to soundcloud?
Jason Evans
it's not great. good drums and like, i like what you're going for (very early flylo-y) but whatever that doom-duh-doom vocal sample is sucks dick and the melodies are ehhh
Jonathan Sanders
how do you glitch that shit up?
Ethan Allen
cool thanks definitely think im flylo
Liam Garcia
>I get embarrassed when other people hear my voice on a recording everyone does, they're not used to their own voice recorded
and yeah I have done, terrible though so not so much anymore
Caleb Davis
just bury it in the mix. I use my voice but sample it and resample it and add reverb and shit on it till no one knows it's me
what do you mean my guy? do you mean the vocals or the main drop sample
Cameron Hernandez
This is p good pham Captured that simple but funky vibe from early house
Evan Diaz
why did u respond to ur own garbage track
John Cook
I think you really need to get like, a good groove with those drums. too stuttery. try downloading some breakbeat samples and play w those
Daniel Ortiz
how can you honestly review that and not tell him his mixing isnt absolute garbage. listen to how loud that fucking clap is
Jack Green
idk what that other user was talking about this is very clearly zaytoven influenced
pretty cool take on that zaytoven sound though
I dig
whoever made this, great stuff
"lo fi" hip hop producers take note
Grayson Lee
initially i probably meant the sample even though the vocals are stuttering in a similar vein. i really like the sort of modulations or whatever it's called that you got going
Jason Rogers
song needs to be mixed and shit needs to be tweaked but i just wanted to get the structure of the song sorted out.
also that user is not me.
Colton Rogers
thanks man. The glitches are just sorta just chopped up and cut into rhythms similar to the footwork shit I've been listening to, that sorta, kick every third bar kinda thing, like k--k--k-k/s--k--k-k (k for kick, s for snare) the vocals are just sorta wonked out into a rhythm different enough from their sample that it's not being totally bitten
Kevin Ross
This is great, kinda reminds me of iglooghost
Benjamin Edwards
Hey guys I'm having this problem where I can't drag and drop stuff in fl studio, I've been kind of getting around it by pressing ctrl and clicking but it's getting really annoying and in the way
Adrian Moore
sounds mpthing like iglooghost lmao
Thomas King
thanks!! he's my #1 influence, just a bit more than OPN
Adam Lewis
Install Ableton Live... That should fix your issue!
Isaiah Lee
>wonky trap drops >glitched up english rapping >cutting rap vox samples into just syllables i mean, not to say you're wrong, but there's some pretty obvious influence duder
It could be better once you spend more time on it, right now it just sounds like you spent two minutes scattering a bunch of notes and samples in a sequencer
Matthew Foster
It's a good start, once you get the structure and patterns down start tweaking the actual sounds themselves a bit more so they're more unique
Cameron Sullivan
This is pretty groovy, but the panning of the snare is kinda offputting imo, it'd probably sound better in the center
William Ross
your playing is good, but you bounced your track with only the Left wave. So it's only coming out one side. Make sure to stereo bounce.
>the warped and wobbled chords leading into the drop is great. Mix sounds balanced and full, love the sparatic pauses, and chops. Fun beat.
I'm making a house tune too - please give me some feedback. you need more pump in that kick, it's too soft and piddly. Bass sounds full, but your build up could be a little more interesting - i found myself waiting for something to happen. (robotic effect on vocals - neat). It all sounds nice and you're for sure on the right track, but i found myself bored half way through because after 45 seconds i heard pretty much everything. However, i know traditional house is much like this so if you were going for that, and that alone, you did it! Overall great work, but keep making stuff.
Not sure what advice or criticism you are looking for - but I'll just give my two cents i guess? Bass is nice in the drop, but i felt like the overall drop shoulda hit harder. I think vocals could be the tiniest bit more present. clap also sounds stuck in the background. maybe a little more side chain on that bass because it seems to be eating up most of the mix. Cool sound you got going on though. It's intimidating and mean.
Uhhmm..... I don't really know what you're trying to make here. :l there's so much going on without much musical aspect.
Not OP, but when you choose to upload is all on you. I havent uploaded nothing to soundcloud, just clyp for you Sup Forumsfags. I don't think i am ready yet, and I feel that first impressions last especially with music. If you post a track and nobody likes it, you could post a second track thats amazing and most people wont even click it to give it a chance. wait till your tracks are great - share it with friends and other producers (probably other than here because we are all kinda shit and rude to one another) 1/2
Kayden Davis
I honestly dont think I panned it at all
Adam Jenkins
2/2 Ran out of room
not sure what that long pause was at the start for, but when the track started it scared the fuck out of me. you should watch your levels while recording a lot of it sounds like it's clipping. the raw piano into the drum and bass is a good idea, but again it all sounds so "in your face" and not in a good way. try re-recording and get a better overall mix.
I needed that mellow vibe after bitsnake (jk bitsnake
Mason Flores
house that has no power is not house. Compression and transient shapers are your friend. I'm probably saying so because your kick is shit and everything sounds pretty dry and hi-heavy. Also, a common beginner mistake, there's a lot of shit that's overly stereo wide. Mono is your friend.
Haaa nothing like good ol white noizee can listen to it all day :D Anyways Did something a while back but the mix didbt turn right so. clyp.it/n5zxykzv
Christopher Lopez
This is actually really good
Dominic Moore
There is some heavy distortion going on is what i meant to say
its the shit most people use before they upgrade to Ableton. srsly you always hear about FL users switching to AL but you never hear about AL users switching to Fruity.
Angel Flores
Becuse if you master FL you master them all. Thats why you see ppl switching from Fl to Al not the other way around
Juan Collins
>soundgoodizer >Proprietary piano roll >limited hardware interfacing >shit midi sequencing
Kek
Ryan Perez
And it still kicks AL ass..
Caleb Russell
Also you fail to realize that even after they switch to FL their music still suck..
kek
Jose Gonzalez
>Becuse if you master FL you master them all. More like if you master FL you only master FL. I take college classes in music production and film sound with professionals in the industry and they all passionately despise it because its so inapplicable and impertinent. It's the most backwards, least transitive, least intuitive of any DAW. This has been known for a long time.
Blake Butler
Man, you kids chatting about midi makes me yearn for my Cakewalk days back in the 90s...
Nolan Peterson
ive always used cubase but never took classes what do they use in college
something i just started about 3 hours ago. i usally make breakbeat and this is my take on 4 to the floor techno shit. the drums def need to be fixed but thats an easy fix. am i going int he right direction?
Gavin Long
You should try a diffrent college then It seems that the professionals are shoving their own opinions rather then facts. Fact is that real pros use whatever necessary to get the job done fast And its been known that FL is the most intuitive and easy to use go check out fl 12 then cone back
Kayden James
they really use reason ? i knew protools was going to be listed but i didnt expect reason
Easton Garcia
Ye your in the right direction just add transitions to the drums
Andrew Long
Is taking the instrumentals from songs and writing your own lyrics to match them a good way to practice songwriting?
I wouldn't post any of the results publically of course since it's stealing, but I was wondering if this is a dumb idea or not.
Anthony Davis
i want 2 get my first "real" synth. im new to making music and im currently using a yamaha pss 480 and it has a lot of limitations
im considering a microbrute, microkorg, or finding a used dx7 on ebay for ~350
my main influences are devo, john maus, and joy division, which should o spring for?
William Perez
You could, but why not just loop a chord progression and improv all the way. Enough time and some lyrics or melodies will stick.
Jaxson Gray
Not as an industry DAW, more as a teaching tool. I haven't taken the class but from what I've heard it's just noob shit. It's like I/O the class.
Juan Gomez
i wouldnt buy a hardware synth if youre new. keep at it with vst and see if over time making music is something you really want to invest in
Christian Mitchell
I made and so I appreciate it
The drums are actually pretty swung including the hi hats
The kick was intentionally distorted
Thank you though bro
Cool stuff you got
I dig the house vibes
Landon Lee
made some revisions according to your suggestions and i will continue to revise it:
