Computer nightmares. We've all had it. Just recently My games ran like shit today. There was no clear reason why. I reinstalled drivers. games still ran like shit. Reinstalled windows. Still ran like crap. Reinstalled windows. Still ran like crap. This followed a furious googling all over the internet. my $600 gaming PC is crap all of a sudden. Run witcher 3. Game runs good. PC is back to normal for now it seems.

I think you mean your PS4 or Xbox one at that price point

a stressed out panic driven one,

OP the problem is you're a poorfag and you bought cheap shit. You can't even get 30fps on that trash.

Im actually OP. Im using my laptop now. I have an i5-4690k @4.00ghz, 750ti SC, and 8GB ram, MSI z97, Corsair Case. etc. It's far from trash.

Sounds like a solid machine for minecraft OP

Well the real problem is you're trying to game on a laptop. Low profile vidya and RAM kinda suck. I mean, that's fine for low-medium graphics on most games I guess, but it's not gonna push high FPS on any real heavy hitters without overclocking, and then you're just asking for problems.

Next time check your task manager and kill any processes or services that are ruining you.

no those specs are on my desktop. I'm simply posting on my laptop now.

nothing has yet happened to my first pc but i have actual nightmares aboutviruses and hardware failure, and not knowing how to fix
my worst nightmares are

flooding toilets
rising water
heights
plane crashes
tornados
ghosts
pc failure
being in school and forgetting shoes in another class
punching someone i hate but it does nothing and theyre laughing

off the top of my head

sometimes when i plug in headphones it sparks and pc just resets so i usually touch the metal part
i dont understand it, ive checked all the wires to make sure nothings exposed/touching/crossing but nothing
worst heart attack ever when that happens

Video chip too hot

My 4 year old pc got a bluescreen on boot. Unmountable boot volume. Dry heaves and panic attacks. Then it finally booted and managed to rund chdsk. It works now.

Yesterday internet was down for 3 hours due to some work they did. Dry heaves and panic attacks again.

$600? shit my Titan x (X2) cost 4 times that and that's just my cards.

>my $600 gaming PC
thats the problem right there

a $600 pc is scraping entry level and the guy who told you it was gaming probably sold you a $450 pc and pocketed the com....

I too, have a fear some viruses or shit that can fuck up my pc.

>Have my anti virus scan every 40 minutes while it's on

Have Kaspersky, but I still feel like it's not the best, any recommendations?

ive tried researching the be all end all av programs with no consistent answer, im not like SUPER knowledgeable but for me avast/malwarebytes/superantispywars/adblockplus havent had any problen since the days i knew 0 about pcs

I heard about malwarebytes but I haven't downloaded anything notable, it's all steam games and steam related websites.

All the porns downloaded to my iPad.

Yo OP you sure you didn't plug your monitor into the motherboard accidentally? instead of the GFX card

You wouldn't believe how many times I've had to fix someones PC running games like shit, only to find out they moved it or something and plugged it into the wrong slot. It happens....

The best Anti-virus is using common sense.

I work in IT and 99% of the time someone has clicked a dodgy link in a email, or downloaded something that is clearly not legitimate.

User error is what gets you viruses.

Anyway, Kaspersky, Trend Micro and Avast are the only good antivirus out there.
Malwarebytes is also good for scans everynow and then.

That's all you really need, a decent Antivirus, Malwarebytes and common sense.

Dood any time that shit happens to me, or my computer starts crashing randomly, I just take out my graphics cards and dust them off, wipe down the connectors and reinstall them. Works every time (almost). One time I left for 2 months and when I came back, my computer could only detect one or none of my cards, so I jiggled them and they started working fine.

Hard drive failure

cause I'm a poor fag and can't afford a big enough HDD to back up my shit too. So im scared shitless that one day i'll lose everything

I don't really use the pc for anything else but games on steam, gmail and stuff

Don't really browse sites I've never really heard of on it.

I don't know what the phobia is called when you have constant fear that your pc has been comprised and you feel like someone's on another screen watching you somewhere.

When I was younger I had a shitty toshiba labtop and I would actually click on those porno ads and download those games LUL

i agree, i have common sense but am also paranoid

i remember my pc would always fuck up and need windows reinstall
found few years ago one of my favorite and most played game would delete important system files when uninstalled
nice to dewll on the good old days when every game was a virus to your parents
game was pool of radiance ruins of myth dranor

Sounds like you 2 guys are just paranoid, like you said. And thats fair enough

to be honest sounds like you guys will never get a virus, your doing the right things most likely.

if it makes you feel any better, 'viruses' these days are just malware, it will only slow down your PC and maybe make pop-ups/websites appear when browsing. And is EASILY removed with malwarebytes or something similar.

I clean up malware daily, literally. (poor old folk don't know any better I guess)

It's not like the old days, where getting a virus meant you could lose data, your PC gets bricked, email account stolen etc etc all that fun stuff, just doesn't happen anymore.

How can $600 be little for a gaming PC?

>Video card $200
amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-Dual-Fan-Graphics-DUAL-GTX1060-O3G/dp/B01KMVHB6M/
>Mobo $50
amazon.com/MSI-Intel-Micro-Motherboard-H81M-E33/dp/B00F42W70A/
>Ram $50
amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-PC3-12800-240-Pin-BLS8G3D1609DS1S00/dp/B006YG9E7O/
>CPU $200
amazon.com/Intel-Skylake-Desktop-Processor-BX80662I56500/dp/B010T6CWI2/

Spend the rest on hard drives.

How the fuck is that not a good gaminc PC?

You guys are all on crack.

I'm not even OP.

This one happened to me the other day.

Bought a Crucial MX300 M.2 SATA SSD. Didn't do enough research, and didn't realise that my mobo doesn't support SATA M.2, only PCI-E M.2.
While installing it, my PSU died. Didn't know if it was mobo or PSU at first, freaked out a bit.
Had a spare PSU and got it running again, which is how I found out the SSD wasn't supported.
Also got an adapter coming so I can use the SSD.

Basically:

>Why didn't you spend a couple thousand on your build?
>Because I'm not made of money/stupid.

Everyone else
>Wow what a fucking retard, you should have spent a couple thousand on your build
>Mine can play 4 instants of Crisis 4.
>Yours can only play one.

Sorry, need to make a correction.

The CPU is a 1151 socket. So get a 1151 for that mobo.

amazon.com/Intel-Core-i5-4460-1150-BX80646I54460/dp/B00JIJUBAS/

Use this one instead.

HAHAHAH I was wondering the same

What's wrong with that process?

Drivers are faster to install than all of Windows.

TL/DR
>buys msi gtx 1080x to fit red/black theme and replace 970
>Card arrives. Excited asf. Take pics for the gram and snap
> pull out 970 carefully *thanks old friend*
> Drivers just barely coming out for 1080. update all drivers and software.
> doesn'twork.jpg...search forums like crazy find something that says windows 10 needs to be updated to certain version for a driver to work
> Windows fails to install updates evrtim
>Calls microsoft. Make friends with indian tech guy talk about games coming out. Thought seriously about sending him my old 970. He had some old 550.
>works on pc. does a soft reset of windows 10. Something goes wrong on restart.
>Fucking TUNNEL BEAR.EXE
>wont stop popping up creating black screen uable to close or click anything else. Cant open task manager. Support noticeably nervously moving cursor. Heart drops. I fuck around with it. Support pulls hail mary out of nowhere.
>me to support: "Uninstall tunnelbear.exe right now"
>fixed now but disconnected during restart with support. My new friend was lost.

>Download "Project Reality" (free bf2 total conversion)
>install in wrong folder
>.../games instead of .../games /projectreality
>deinstall again to fix it
>deinstallation takes some time, i guess its a free mod so i don't mind
>after some time, whole games folder is empty
>apparently, the PR deinstall simply deletes everything in the current folder.
it's still a pretty neat game.

A system restore is going to be just as effective most of the time, or hell if you're not a faggot and actually use Windows 10 you can at least do a refresh.

Ultimately reinstalling Windows is basically never necessary, but I doubt OP would know better anyway. He has one of those $600 builds poorfags who've never owned a PC do after seeing an image on Reddit.

this
I've been torrenting for a decade now, never ever had a single virus. Common sense and a free avprogramm are enough.

Got 2 spare keys of ESET 2016 antivirus program and wanted to give one to my friend, though a third gets cancer and tells me that av programs actually open security holes. Is that true?

8 GB is nothing for games these days, 16 is where it's at now.

Private trackers help as well

I really dont get why everyone says youll need about a thousand bucks for a gaymen pc
ive spent about 500 for the parts and i can run games like the witcher 3 at ultra

but maybe people on the internet are just stupid....
