seriously? this piece of shit got best picture? it's one of the most tame, predictable and plain movies I've seen in a while. this is what happens when you make a movie without any sense of style or directorial interference. it was made solely by the scriptwriters and camera operators.

what a piece of shit

i thought it was pretty dull too

the whole time watching it I thought this story would have been better told by a book

Rule of Thumb: Best Foreign Film is usually a better movie than whatever Best Picture is

Carol was the best movie of 2015

There's no one that disagrees right?

Mad maxxers pls stay away.

Was it predictable because its based on true events?

i hated the first shot of the movie just being a fat cop walking down a hall.

the first shot most of the time will tell you the quality of a movie

it's predictable in its execution
every movie like this follows the same formula

it was absolutely perfect. i knew it would be ever since the first excerpt was released

There some neat subtleties with the characters but you think a movie about this subject matter would have a more emotional core.

Felt like a documentary to me

You're an idiot if you think a best picture from the Academy Awards means anything. Every year they try to be relevant by fluffing up whatever would seem to get them the most political capital at the time.

Its usually either a holocaust, abuse, black empowerment or gay movie.

>blacks bitch about under-representation
>actually get more recognition than expected
>meanwhile asians get completely ignored yet don't bitch and moan

This.
Same applies w. foreign animated films vs. what wins the Animated Feature Oscar.

>Daily reminder Song of the Sea and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya lost to generic Disney capeshit

>Daily reminder The Wind Rises lost to fucking Frozen

Its even more hilarious when you realize how many of those white members of the academy have actually won an award.

I went into the movie with no expectations and dropped it halfway through. I got pretty tired of it going out of its way to explicitly mention HOW the priests diddled kids, like what the fuck yo? I knew what the movie was about prior, I don't need a fucking play-by-play of these god damn pedos

Inferiority complex.

It was literally a poor mans All the President's Men. It only won because Hollywood wanted to get on their soapbox on TV and tell everyone how bad the evil Catholic church is, even though Hollywood itself is run by pedophiles.

>be Hollywood

>give Oscar to film criticizing catholic church for its stance on pedophilia

>let elitist scum get on their high horse and use the film's wins as a platform to spout off

>ignore the fact that a sizable chunk of Hollywood big-wigs have signed a petition to get Roman Polanski back in the country

>ignore the fact they gave Polanski a Best Director Oscar in 2003, which he was unable to accept due to him being on the run

>continue to cover up the rampant pedophilia going on in your industry

>not giving a shit that you're currently worse than the Catholic Church, which has at least attempted to combat the pedophilia while you continue to preach about how terrible it is while doing nothing about the pedophilia happening in your own industry

Then again what should we expect from the people who go to global warming summits on their gas-guzzling private jets.

If you didn't like Spotlight you're just a pleb who needs action or romance in their movies
This shit was intense as hell, dramatically. It's even pacing made the content and characters speak for themselves rather than influence the viewer based on prejudice, even if deserved. Very good movie.

it was a good movie but nothing happend with the characters, like nobody developed or had an arc. Also ruffalos character had a weird speech thing that bothered me

I enjoyed it for the most part, ended up giving it a 3, but I do agree with "best picture??". I'd never watch it again and to be honest it was starting to overstay its welcome near the end.
