Magic players, what is your favorite MTG set and why?
Magic players, what is your favorite MTG set and why?
Onslaught was good.
I don't have one because I'm not a fucking child with self-diagnosed misanthropic Aspergers
It's not the best but I love the aesthetic, kaladesh and aether revolt are probably some of my favorite sets in a while. Also especially because it isn't dog shit.
Mirrodin.
So the ban list had one big suprise.
WTF why is G probe banned?
4th Edition and Ice Age. Only because that is when I first started playing as a kid.
Homelands.
beta ... because that is how i roll
you know, wotc releases a statement, giving reasons for the bans & restrictions
tempest block was fucking dope
cant even look at mtg nowadays its so fucking pathetic
...
...
Tie between shadowmoor and original mirrodin
So they ban G probe for doing too much for too little, but not inqusition of koz or thoughtseize?
That's hilarious coming from a Magic player, oh my yes. I'll just sit here safe in the knowledge that there's statistically a 75% chance that you lack basic personal hygiene.
Urza's legacy. Because huge ass creatures, and powerful green/blue.
kamigawa
Just got back into magic after a 5 year break....alot of my Innistrad cards are worth fucking bank. I trade four Liliana's for four 90$ kaladesh booster boxes.
the whole game turned into shit pretty fast once urza block was over.
Go to sleep faggot you have school in the morning.

Mirrodin
...
free spells always have been a problem ... and a lot of those are/were banned/restricted in their respective formats.
Plus you can get perfect information for free on the turn you are going to combo off, which is a problem.
...
Anything Sliver.
Holy fuck what a way to start 2017....go leak your sister or ex gf today lol - snap leak .cf
...
If you want to have perfect information using IoK or Thoughtseize or similar, you would have to delay the combo by a turn. Which could slow down a format enough for other countermeasures.
...
Zenidkar lands were the shit. Three color decks started to really kick some ass.
...
I'm excited for Archenemy 2. I just finished my original Archenemy set. Hopefully we get another Un set soon. I don't really have a favorite set. I started during the Theros block.
...
...
Fucking hell why don't you two get a room already and sit and play magic nude.
He's right though, you're pathetic.
...
I think its safe to say dragon's maze was the best.
You got ripped off.
My personal favorite was Zendikar because I like fucking around with allys. The inherent synergy makes for lots of fun with more customization options and less of the bullshit that plagued the slivers.
Pic related. My UB ally mill deck holds a special place in my heart. Halimar Excavator and Agadeem Occultist are bros for life.
You think?
She is selling for $80 right now? I sold my play set for $360 in booster boxes. I pulled two masterpieces that are alone worth $120.
I'm there with you. Revised and fallen empires, it's when I got in and I could actually memorize every card. Now I'm fucked. Been out too long. Every time someone plays a card I gotta fucking read it.
Legions and Onslaught were fun. Scourge ruined it, though. I'm an Akroma fan. Actually I'm an Angel fan. My collection is pretty epic.
Mirrodin was fun until Darksteel. Indestructible just made the game less fun. And don't get me started about the Clamp. Everyone is all up in arms about the Standard bans and how it's never happened before....Skullclamp broke Standard (and a lot of other formats) and it was banned soon after release.
Of the more modern sets, I really though zendikar was cool
Urza's Saga
because blue is the only color
Uh....no. She goes for $100, and that's only because everyone is betting on her being reprinted in Modern Masters 2017. If she gets passed over again, she'll go back up to $120.
If they were in good condition, I'd have asked for 5 boxes.
Tempest, Urza's Saga, Lorwyn, Ravnica: City of Guilds, Avacyn Restored, Planar Chaos are a few favorites.
Least favorites include Prophecy, Homelands, the whole kamigawa block, Battle for Zendikar, Torment, Judgment, Legions, Alara Reborn
Their worst release to date is easily Chronicles. Very close to killing off the game entirely.
I like the recent block, the previous couple of years were not great for expansions.
Also, we need another Unglued.
You're retarded.
Most op card in the game. Used it once before it was banned in tournaments out here in Australia. It turned the game no problem.
nigga you dumb as shit
Whatever. If you have a Lili, then I'd be more than happy to part with a box of Kaladesh. She's the second most sought after walker ever printed behind super jace. If she gets past over again for MM2017, then people are gonna hold their copies a little tighter.
The gratuitous use of indestructible and hexproof is unfortunate. Those mechanics are often in the EDH decks of the guy going all out to win casual games with friends.
suck a cock
...
Time spiral, and worldwake
It made me feel like revised again.
I always hated I missed unlimited, and I hated it more I had a MOX and ancestrial stolen from me in HS (they weren't super expensive by today's standards, but back then to a 15 ur old kid $100 was a lot.
And it pissed me off adults never took my "those cards are worth hundreds" seriously.....
inistrad because I'm a fan of the story of it. it's the first block I started on. and I'm a vampire collector and it obviously had tons of those. I don't like what they did with eldritch moon but some good has come from it. can't wait to see what they do with sorrin.
>ironically using anything except TCGplayer market price for card value
Agree, the Innistrad plane had a good feel and story to it.
Then fucking spaghetti monsters had to happen.
I enjoyed Rise of the Eldrazi, but we don't need to have them ruin every plane now.
>There's a site selling them for more so it just be more
Nigga you dumb as shit.
Urzas saga fir the art!

eBay completed listings are also helpful, but tend to have more variance.
that's what I'm saying. I feel like they were in a rush to start the new block releases so they couldn't finish the story on zendikar but come on innistrad had enough issues haha. love the picture by the way.
>Magic players,
not one.
>what is your favorite MTG set
whatever has the black lotus
>and why?

Ice Age will always be high on the list for me, cause that Set just starting coming out when I started playing High School.
it's beautiful.
>arabian nights
plebs and noobs won't know how awesome this set is
Khans of tarkir, only because me and my friends drafted it so much
nigga Y U lying? Unsets have never been legal in any format but their respective blocks
Torment
color identity was so fucking down to the wire in that set.
madness, flashback, threshold & discard had an awesome dynamic and was pretty high level for that time
sadly, very few overpowered or even rare cards from that set, but a bomb to play
Wasn't a legitimate tornament per say, just a local group who wanted to play with whatever cards we had. But our group later banned it hahaha.
>color identity was so fucking down to the wire in that set
Not sure what you mean.
Black cards were twice as plentiful as each other color. It was basically the ONLY set that was completely off color-wise.
play this with a bunch of forks, isochrons, twincasts, etc.
isochrone won't work, as it only accepts instants
But still shahrazad was fun when it was allowed in T1 ... Best Burn card ever :D.
However the "exile" zone rule changes made the deck unplayable. It was fun playing burning wish on the sharahzad of the main game which was still laying on the stack. Even for judges, the situations escalated quickly ruleswise
...
made sense why it was the only non-ante and non-dexterity card banned in vintage
It's quite good.
You realize that that's NOT how the pricing and trading of magic cards works, right? You can't bargain for magic cards like a fucking bazaar, the cards have strict set prices that any affiliates are FORCED to legally sell at. A card shop in my hometown got shut down because he was altering the price of certain cards and wizards took his ass to court and got hit business license revoked.
>Innistrad
Story was intriguing, and realized B/R vamps pretty well dominated anyone I played
Make Kamigawa great again.

the deck's "codename" was 007, as it tried to draw every match when played in a tournament.
Nesting subgames also are quite fun.
