I don't get this movie. Why does it get so much praise? The action was good and that toilet scene was great. It was nice to watch and the movie flowed like water, but apart from that, I don't really get the movie.

What didn't you get?
That's creepy as fuck. Theres people like this that actually exist.
It's shot brilliantly, the acting is really intense and the atmosphere and tone is phenomenal. I don't think a film has captured dread better than The Shining.
It isn't necessarily a masterpiece, but its fame is well deserved imo.
Its just about one of the best possibly done horror movies out there. Read some more about it, it has an interesting structure and use of dissolves, low angles, etc.
I think the production behind the film was my favorite aspect of it.
It wasn't the old "in-out, in-out."
>I don't get this movie.
That's because you're an idiot. Probably a nigger too.
It looked like one of the best movie productions ever.
The 'making of' is extremely comfy.
This
the shining is patrician as fuck
Kubrick actually drove Shelly Duvall hysterical on set.
Her reactions in the film are real because he made her do countless re-takes and berated her.
Me on the left.
>Why does it get so much praise?
It doesn't.
yeah her name is Hillary Clinton
>atmosphere and tone is phenomenal
This guy get's it. It's even better if you watched it as a child.
>tfw we will never get that authentic of a performance by any actress today because she'll probably just complain about le opressive masculinity or something
This movie was really good but it wasn't scary at all
I will never forget seeing this shit as a child
Same here, it was amazing. I fucking loved the intro too.
Feminism really lowered standards for females, didn't it?
Me too.
just get a pedojew to direct, they get away with literally anything
So much this. The atmosphere and tone is what makes this movie great.
I know a lot about The Shining but not the dissolves?
It's made it easier for female actors to just play themselves in movies. And it's celebrated for some reason.

It definitely is if you watch it as a kid. And I think there's an undeniable uneasiness for adults as well.
