My favourite black metal record at the moment probably has to be Marduk - Panzer Division

this ones gud

Under the Sign of the Black Mark is also really good. I've been bumping that shit all week while I do homework and what not. The best song is Woman of Dark Desires.

...

Dawn of the black hearts is the epitome of black metal

Not of all time, but recently I've really enjoyed this Wigrid album. It's better than Hoffnungstod, and has a unique atmosphere that is comforting but also very depressing. Also the Burzum inspired final ambient track is very nice.

There was a time in my life when I'd listen to Woman of Dark Desire every day. Fantastic song, one of Bathory's best.

What is the best black metal album from this year? The new Horn album is alright, but I don't feel like anything special came out this year. I've also been meaning to listen to the new Forteresse album from this year as well.

Am I allowed to say this

Opps. I almost forgot the new Striborg album as well. It's nothing new, but if you like Striborg you'll enjoy it. It's better than This Suffocating Existence.

People rag on The Return...'s production being so shit, but I really like it when black metal has shitty production and sounds cheap and echoey. Adds atmosphere.

It's my favorite black metal album.

>1980s: Under the Sign of the Black Mark
>1990s: Pentagram (Gorgoroth)
>2000s: Sardonic Wrath (Darkthrone)
>2010s: III I (Darkspace)

This album is amazing.

Interesting idea, and also nice taste.

>1980's
Under the Sign of the Black Mark
>1990's
Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
>2000's
Paysage d'Hiver - Winterkälte
>2010's
Evilfeast - Wintermoon Enchantment

wigrid is basically burzum worship - the band anyway, but yea its good

it's their best album for me probably, check out obsidian arc by pillorian, its john haughm's new band, it's better than serpent and the sphere by miles at least but i need to relisten to that one

this is probably my all time favorite black metal album. or pic related
i just love em riffs

>paysage d'hiver

>"You've gained Karma"

Possibly Drudkh's "Blood in our Wells"? Other two main contenders would be Thorns self titled and Immortal's "At the Heart of Winter". That's about half of all the BM I listen to anymore, largely grew out of the genre.

Forgotten Legends is better.

Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, but Grand Declaration of War by Mayhem is also amazing.

Currently this one, it just embodies everything I love about the 2nd wave.

Cause I had a Blood Fire Death t-shirt and I always tended to listen to it more than to the rest of Bathory albums because of it.

This at the moment:

Criminally unknown band.

written in waters and bergtatt

>That solo at the end of Equimanthorn

Who here /sad/

Blut Aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God
Deathspell Omega - Fas (also Drought and Paracletus)
Paysage d'hiver - s/t
Burzum - Filosofem
Weakling - Dead As Dreams
Fanisk - Noontide

I can't pick a favorite though.

me

I have like 5 essential black metal albums I always go to

Taiga - Gaia
Baise ma Hache - La Grande Suicide
Drudkh - Estrangement
Diapsiqour - Anti
Dark Funeral - Angelus Exuro pro Eternus

This is probably my favorite tied with Ballade cuntre lo Anemi Francor

I love this alum, but Sons of Northern Darkness has to be my pick for my favorite Immortal overall

haha no

Live in Leipzig is closer to the epitome than Dawn of the Black Hearts, and I would say Secrets of the Black Arts or For all Tid are more the Epitome than that

Anyone can rec me some "spring-infused" black metal albums?

Like Spring feeling? Kroda – Пoплaч Meнi, Piчкo... (Cry me to the River) or Askivals Eternity are the closest things that come to mind. Maybe some Temnozor
