hey Sup Forums I need a bit of help. I'm a consolefag (or so my friends call me) and I've been wanting to build a PC. if anyone here could help me out that'd be just great. I have this list I made pcpartpicker.com/list/4wtTjc

Bumpin while I read this list

If you have a shit load of money to spend then yeah it looks good. I wouldn't cheap out on a power supply though, get a gold certified one. Maybe dump the evo heat sink and get the cheapest corsair liquid cooled one, I think it's like $70.

console switching to a 4k rig u wot m8???
also that cpu is overkill

This has to be troll. Why would you spend $650 on RAM and get 2tb worth of SSD and then only spend $20 on a heat sink and $50 on a PSU. Lmao.

you are going way overboard

Are your parents paying for it?

OP here. Yeah I have no idea what i'm doing. Never ever have I looked into a PC and on some things I just decided "hey lets sort from most expensive and go with that"

do you make 6 figures a month of something

No I am. Been saving from my job for a while. Have the money for it but just have no idea how to spend it

bad way of making a computer

This is what my friend gave me after telling me what all you of basically have
pcpartpicker.com/list/9KHMyf

Power supply, more power.. several smaller ssds instead of two big uns.. what do you plan on playing? Not sure how 1440p with only one 1080 gtx is gonna do you for in the future. Also why so much RAM? What else.. get another monitor if you don't have extra.. get a better mechanical keyboard.. OS, no love for win 10?.. i never fucked around with liquid cooling so i got no recommendations there.

Couple Tips.

- Get a Gold or higher PSU.
- Drop one of the SSD's and get a 4TB HD (for storage). Install apps / games to the SSD.
- Get a 2nd 120mm Fan for the CPU as the 212 only comes with 1. With 2 you can do a push / pull configuration.
- I'd get a HAF-X Tower. It's one of the best towers out for air flow and spacious as fuck and will easily fit the Graphics Card you're getting, it's not as pretty as a lot of cases though.
- Careful with the ROG Swift, you might have to return it. They've been having a lot more batches with Screen Glow problems.

Wouldn't SSD's be nicer since it does have that edge of faster loading? I currently have a 1TB SSD on my PS4 and it's definitely been a help with loading speeds. Some small but some very big

Windows 7? Why?

That board supports M.2, so you could actually get a m.2 chip for even faster speeds.

He probably doesn't want to spied on.

Lol I have an old ass 2009 laptop that I still have Windows 7 on. Never did update it to like 8 or 9 or 10. Would having old OS cause a problem?

OP I've been building PC's for years, this is my recommendation.

pcpartpicker.com/list/QcVzHN

I'm just thinking of redundancy and hardware failure. I'll also second what said about storage, too. I'd rather have more separate drives than two fatties.

Windows 10 is bloatware. Plus every big new update ruins it and you have to go around disabling all the trash again.

Nah but for his sake for future gaming, probably just go with the dx12

You got a point. I'd totally dump $40k on my first PC

i stopped building rigs with the core 2 duos.

what are we on now? core 5 duos?

Most expensive doesn't mean best dude. That graphics card would be shit for gaming despite being $4k. It's a workstation GPU, not a gaming GPU.

>i've been building pc's for years
>razer naga

?

Meant for

just buy urself a alienware desktopfag

I thought about getting just a laptop at first but then I decided to just get a desktop for convenience or whatever

You can get that monitor as a refurb from newegg right now for 350 shipped, which is a fantastic deal(nevermind the occasional promotion discounts from shit like visa checkout, which is like 30 bucks off).

I bought mine about a year ago for 425, it came with everything and literally still had the protective peel plastic on the back. I take it there were initially dead pixels, so someone sent it back, they made sure it was ok, then re-sold.

You're down to only a 6month warranty, but i've never had a monitor just stop working for no reason.

Part of me kind of wants him to blow more money on incompatible parts, might learn something then.

Get a whiteman's computer, then go outside and meet women.

why do that when i can download any girl i want and fap?

that's a good question lmao

Cheaper and less of a hassle too. And with VR now and VR designed fucktoys around the corner. Why bother with women at all.

I've been in two 10 year relationships now, one after another and I've decided that when this one ends, it's going to be fucktoys and VR for me. Can't be fucked to go through the process of dating again.

Start by changing your shitty taste in mouse and keyboard, get something actually worthwhile like a K70, Strafe, CM Storm Quickfire, or a G910 or G810. And depending on what kind of games you plan to play (FPS, MOBA, MMO, all kinds, etc), get something like a G900, G Pro, Corsair M65, or anything else worth putting money into. If you have this kind of cash just laying around, there's way better mice than a shitty DeathAdder, don't buy into the Razer meme. Also, get a good mousepad(literally just pick up a SteelSeries QcK and you're set) and sound card, if you're going to get headphones like that. You may also wanna splurge for some RGB lights and a second or third monitor, there's some rather good utlrawides and 4K displays, if you're gonna get only one monitor, you may wanna get an ultrawide since it'll be better overall. Here are two options:

amazon.com/LG-Electronics-25UM57-25-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00V8FAWC2/

amazon.com/LG-34UC98-W-34-Inch-UltraWide-Thunderbolt/dp/B019O78DPS/

...

since you're a consolefag, you may also wanna throw in a wireless adapter for your PS4 and/or ShitBox controller(s).

Gold certified is a one thing, 100% Japanese capacitors is a must.

this is clearly supposed to be a joke since OP apparently has so much fucking money to spend

Or instead of a soundcard get a decent DAC / AMP. Hell even a cheap one like FiiO e10k is on par with a good soundcard.

>ou may also wanna splurge for some RGB
Gay ricer shit. Computers are meant to be powerful, not pretty.

well part of this is to totally get rid of using a controller on PC since I did that once at a friend's house and got absolutely fucked by kbm users. Comfy and feel at home with it, but at a total disadvantage

Been saving money for 2 years. Been wanting to get a PC
>let's ask the internet. Always a good choice amirite

I don't disagree, but if he's got so much money, maybe he's interested in spicing up whatever gaming dungeon he's set up with this much money, Idc what other people use for their shit, everyone's different

I only recommend the adapters because you may be interested in emulators and shit or games you can play without losing edge by using a controller, etc, not to just get better graphics then slap a controller on it anyway.

well that's what one of them has to say about your comment

your PSU is too small for that rig tbh, id go 600w at least, and if i were you id get a seasonic one

7700k is an overpriced piece of shit, either get the top of the line i5 or go xeon/extreme

RAM speed flat out doesnt matter in gaming beyond DDR 1600MHz dual channel

if youre spending that much on SSDs, consider going NVMe, with a PCI-E card to facilitate it if your board doesnt have support for such an SSD, and definately not over SATA

the razer blackwidow is a shot choice of mech, look at coolermasters shit or some other brand

Controller is still a must.

Obviously RTS and FPS you want KB&M, But platformers, action games and the like are all better with controller.

Get a Mac and continue playing console games and laugh knowing you'll get every game and they won't. Pc gaming sucks so much. You'll be much happier.

I'm not judging you, but at least get shit that's worthwhile. Razer meme is dumb as shit, they have some nice products, mostly their laptops and old-ass DeathAdder, but there's also shit like getting a graphics card that's good and expensive, but may be far more than you need. Also your power supply looks a bit low in wattage to me, but I'm too lazy to calculate rn, so double check all your parts and get something a bit higher. If you get something like 520W for example, grab a 600W or something in that range.

I'll still have both. Not just getting a PC and dumping all my consoles in the trash

K70 and K65 are pretty expensive, but they're pretty good, just get them from a place where they aren't like $50 overpriced or something else that's similar in quality. Razer DeathAdder is a fine, simple mouse, but there's way better shit that does the same job better or equally that's more worthwhile. I said Razer is a meme, not the DeathAdder, plenty of people new to pc gaming shit think it's like Apple and you just grab the expensive shit with logos that sell

PC gaming kicks the shit out of consoles. I like being able to mod my games, and mod them with any mods, not mods of specific sizes, and have to be authorized, etc.

I also like knowing that if I upgrade my computer, all the old games I own are still going to fucking work.

I also like having access to shit like Steam and not having to buy faggot shit like Live and PS Now.

The only downside is that I might miss out on one or two decent exclusives every couple of years. But most games are multiplat these days.

So after all this and chatting with friends. I came to this new list. I think it should work.

pcpartpicker.com/list/47Tcyf

nice case

Pc gaming isn't worth it. There are no good games that aren't on console first. Modding is only so much fun until you realize it ruins the experience. Windows is on its way out and Microsoft are going open source. Windows 10 is last version of Windows. Microsoft ain't making Windows after this. Google it if you don't believe me. If you want true long term commercial support get a Mac. Your other choice is the cringe fest that is Linux. We all know unless you're some haxor or child molester with gigs of cp Linux is useless. Your only choice is consoles and a Mac.

pc gaming is awesome if you like them pretty graphics and dont get a lot of sun cause you never do shit outside.

but for normal people like myself, who have friends, a girlfriend, and travel, and like to form meaningful human connections with others... consoles work best.

we simply dont have time for all that shit. (modding. kek)

i am sad that you dont like the sun, or going outside, or human contact user. enjoy your shitty porn and mountain dew.

If you are trying to blow money might as well get some dece peripherals too, dont forget a wired xbox360 controller, some kind of speakers, and any other random shit you might want. I really like my Razer Orbweaver for League and Rainbow Six Siege among other things (and get a wide mousepad)

I wouldn't drop so much, and just get more vidya, my 970 still runs all my games at 60-80 fps on max graphics 1080p

Don't bother with an SLI. Unless you're going for more monitors it's not that great of an improvement. Also keep in mind the 1080ti (best version of the 1080) is right around the corner.

And I'd also stay away from ASUS, they make good quality items, but have HORRIBLE customers service on the off chance that something does fuck up. They do not cross ship. If your GPU dies, they'll want you to send it in, try to fix the problem on the card, and then either send it back to you if they fix it, or just send you a new one.

>$400 CPU
>$600 RAM
You're just trolling, right?

Well isn't case just a personal preference thing? Does it affect the build at all?

...

KEK

lol at the "PC gamers have no friends" meme.

I'm married, have a kid, go out and have fun, and still have a computer worth 5k.

I wish I was. New to this whole PC thing and Im kinda just askin people how to get a nice, smooth and steady pc for whatever it is I'd need it for

Dumbest Idea that you could have is to buy a custom PC online, buy single parts and then build the PC on your own, you will save so much money

Then get a Mac lol duh

not bait. just true.

only fat fucks with no meaningful lives spend their fucking days "modding" and tweaking their shit into shit pointless oblivion.

seriously, go outside. there's trees and shit.

as long as everything fits it shouldnt be a problem.

it IS a problem for which sucks. my computer runs too because the NZXT H440 constricts the airflow too much for my rad on my 9590.

Kinda my fault because of how fucking hot the 9590 runs. I have to have the top and front panel off my computer otherwise it overheats. I think the only way to get it to stop voerheating is switch to a custom loop but I have no job and no money so I jsut have the case open.

>building a pc

How difficult is it, and how does the cost compare to buying a pre-built gaming PC?

I'm assuming you're probably not gonna do much content creating, so what kind of games do you play?

seems like bait, but i have a good social life and get sun. Modding takes no time at all and in no case do consoles work best, nor are they acceptable if you like a good gaming experience

jeez my eyes started to hurt

2 million people starving to death right now in Yemen

It can be, but you do have to make sure it will fit the GPU. Those things are almost 11" now and some cases the HD bays get in the way.

It also has to do with cooling. If you're going for watercooling then airflow isn't as important, but case size is. But if you're going for fan cooling then you want a case with good ariflow.

Did you even read the post? He's using PCPartPicker lol

Huge cost difference, and combining the parts is like playing with LEGOs you just need to be careful lol

>7700k is an overpriced piece of shit, either get the top of the line i5 or go xeon/extreme
7700k is the most expensive CPU you should consider if you're building a gaming PC. It's not great value, but if you're already spending $2k, it's not a bad buy either.

>RAM speed flat out doesnt matter in gaming beyond DDR 1600MHz dual channel
Skylake(and by extension, kaby lake) actually does show improvement for getting faster RAM. Still not much point going beyond 3000MHz.

>if youre spending that much on SSDs, consider going NVMe, with a PCI-E card to facilitate it if your board doesnt have support for such an SSD, and definately not over SATA
NVMe SSDs literally make no noticeable difference over SATA for consumer workloads.

Your waifu pillow and doll collection don't count.

modding takes no time at all though, at most it only takes a few minutes from a tutorial video on youtube to learn how to mod and you're pretty much set

That's like saying you're a fat fuck for downloading DLC for console games like Smash Bros or some thing, just because it adds to or changes a game a bit or some shit, and if you physical modding, it doesn't take years to install some lights or move around your cables and other shit like that so your set up is neat or whatever the fuck.

I actually do a lot of video editing, movie type stuff and make music if that helps a bit

You're either shilling for Apple or literally retarded.

plus there's plenty of shit everywhere that clearly tells you how to build it, it's not hard, just takes some time, especially first time. You can watch like any of Linus's build logs and go from there just fine.

>a good gaming experience

a good gaming experience is a fast and easy gaming experience.

most fucking classic games and even the best modern day games dont require 600 dollar graphic cards.

you stupid fucks are too stupid to realize you're throwing your fucking money away on shit that goes obsolete within months.

buy some property or hookers or drugs or something. geeeez.

true this, but OP mentioned overtweaking or overtuning wiht the law of diminishing returns.
can confirm have 200 hours modding skyrim and only 180 hours playtime or 100 hours modding minecraft and 200 hours playtime

There's no s on Lego you fucking creten

The most difficult part is putting in the CPU + Heatsink. And for that you could find loads of tutorials on youtube on how to do it.

Everything else pretty much only goes in one area. GPU can only fit in one of the GPU slots, and it doesn't really matter which slot you use.

All the connectors are labeled so if you have a fan, just look on the MB and you'll see pin sticking out in various locations that will say "Fan 1, Fan 2, CPU Fan" etc.

you need multiple monitors\
seriously get two or if you are dropping this fat fuckign meme get a fucking ultrawide 34inch qhd

amazon is having a "sale" smile.amazon.com/Dell-FR3PK-34-Inch-Led-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00PXYRMPE/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i2_r?_encoding=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=0RB5DP7QJ8KGNNWEKVTK&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=a6aaf593-1ba4-4f4e-bdcc-0febe090b8ed&pf_rd_i=desktop&th=1

OK you're either just baiting, or a jealous and poor console fag.

Your motherboard has the z170 chipset which means your 7700k will not be able to use its turbo boost function you need a z270 chipset instead. Also spend about 400$ less in ram of your using this for gaming. Ram the speed of your ram will make almost zero difference in game performance. You also need a different PSU I'd go full modular with at least a gold rating. I would Also get an HDD to replace one of your SSDs. Not to mention you should get a less expensive 1080 like an EVGA super locked or FTW. With the money you save on the RAM and SSDs and a cheaper 1080 you could buy a second 1080 and run them in SLI

tbh I was execting you'd say that. anything you're already doing on whatever pc you have now shouldn't be hard to do just as well or better on a much stronger pc, particularly since using an SSD and high-end GPU will just move shit along faster. May wanna get a bit more RAM, though, if you work while opening lots of programs like Chrome and Skype that eat your RAM while doing other shit like coding or editing or whatever. Anywhere between 16GB to 32GB or more is fine for both gaming and content creating

Not poor i own a decked out Mac pro I'm just not some fat piece of useless shit

seriously everything has really obvious spots on where/how to install it. its only tricky to build your own custom loop. but OP aint doing that

Damn, excuse me.

There's also shit like emulators that you can make run at extremely high graphics and quality to make older games even better, plus, you don't have to spend hundreds to get a good PC gaming experience. I have like a $70 piece of shit GPU that has yet to fail me on anything for almost two years while playing AAA titles, editing videos and shit, and upscaling emulators, etc. There's also the fact that you can obviously run console games and they look fine at the price point they're at, but that doesn't mean they can't look better, and not everyone likes controllers or just prefers the highest quality shit. Who cares what the fuck other people use if everyone is still having a good time anyway

Only 60hz. Shit for gaming, will see screen tearing.

I'm only fucking with ya lol this is b

all classic games can be played on PC, and no game requires a 600 dollar graphics card. Shelling out money depends on whether or not you want the best graphics possible

If you have a spare £3000 just laying around then sure but I'd recommend the hyper x could 2 if you are going to be playing first person shooters
