Is it acceptable as a 27 year old guy to hang out in associations meant to bring people who share interests together?

I'm in a group for people interested in vidya and anime, but the problem is that it's the only one in my city and all people there are between 16 and 18.

I'm not after anyone sexually, but even if I was it would've been legal in my country. I just want to know if it's acceptable to hang around teens at my age just because we share common interests.

Other than that, I'm a normal guy with friends my own age, my own apartment and a qt3.14 GF.

I know they play a lot of obscure japanese games as well, so I would get out a lot of it seeing all my friends play casual crap like CoD and such.

I'm 28. Personally I find it hard to be around most teens. They're too spastic and don't have anything to talk about, have opinions that are stupid because they have no real-life experience yet, and they think everything that they have to say is important. I'm not saying there aren't exceptions, these are just general things I've noticed.

Ehhh if your a leader type, then it's fine. My local friendly game shop runs dnd, MTG, 40k ECT and all the DMs and such are real beardy motherfuckers, and all the members are either teens or neckbeards.

Consider it mentoring, if you actually are a normal person. Do you help out and show these youngings classic games and old school LAN stuff? How small is your town?

It is TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE. If you are the group leader, you are a MENTOR. This is an honorable role as you guide today's youth into being good people with a healthy attitude towards anime and video games. As long as they understand you are not their friend but an acquaintance, and you have your own outside social life, it's OK.

That being said, these people are teenagers and can be unforgiving for any minor social gaffe. Do Not Friend These People on Facebook. Keep your life from them separate from everything else. Business like communication in regard to the club / group / association is about as far as it needs to go - what to show at the meetings, what to do, meeting times and cancellations if necessary.

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You're a Responsible Adult and can do anything you want. If you think the teens in the group are making you uncomfortable, make someone else in charge who is also capable, and just step away.

But don't let nagging fears keep you from doing something positive and give these kids something fun to do and keep them from dropping rocks on the freeway (ie causing trouble).
