A small collective of people of varying races owned and traded slaves in America. They were of similar proclivities and outlooks, and differed from the bulk of individuals who disagreed with them and had disagreed with them more or less the whole time. This is simply the reality.
But that's not thinking like a nigger.
A nigger sees slavery and they see white people from America to Europe complicit and contributing to institutions of slavery. Therefore, all white people shared, in some way or another, this collective burden.
It stands to reason, from the nigger perspective, that the LEAST white people could have done upon coming to their senses was to free their slaves.
That is simply what the slave portion of the Civil war is to the nigger. It is white people, as a whole, deciding far to late that slavery is bad, and then a bit of bickering (war, in reality) with a few of them who were especially reluctant. The Civil War to them was not a clash between two very different groups of people, it was just a spot of turbulent unrest as the last of the people on board with slavery were put in their place by the bulk of people who were on board with slavery up until just now somehow. The slaves were not given their freedom by the sacrifice of people with no real obligation to them or their lives, they were given freedom by people who owed them freedom and the life-cost it incurred.
That is how the nigger perspective views emancipation. There isn't really any way to cure it. As far as this perspective is concerned, because the slaves didn't deserve to be slaves, it was therefore upon everybody to free them.

THE NORTH WAS NOT FIGHTING TO FREE THE SLAVES. They fought to preserve the union. The south didn't secede because the north threatened to emancipate their slaves, but because he North wouldn't send runaways back to their masters, wouldn't allow slave owners to take their slaves to the North, and wanted to stop the spread of slavery to new territories.
The North would have been totally fine with allowing southern states to continue practicing slavery if it meant preventing the civil war.
