The first movie was made in 2001, didn't have great CGI and still managed to look better than all its sequels

Sharkboy and Lavagirl also made no sense, but at least that one works as an autistic ten year old's revenge fantasy.

Back then it was a fresh idea and the CGI looked pretty good for the time.

Acting for the first two was also pretty good when compared to other live action kids movies.

Now it's just a garbage cash in on nostalgia they can pull out every 5-10 years.

They're great movies. When you see a clip on YouTube they look silly, but as kids movies, they are fantastic. The seemingly low-budget aesthetic is far better for these films than any extravagant show of money.
