Help me, I can't stop listening to September Gurls
Austin Hernandez
Have you listened to Third yet?
Oliver Ross
Cheap Trick is literally the best act to come out of the Rock Era (1962-2005)
Charles Hall
Salvation Army The Records Exploding Hearts The Colors The Shivvers Bram Tchaikovsky Sonic Avenues
Those are some of my favs and I'd recommend any of them.
Xavier Watson
I love Cheap Trick, but isnt that a little hyperbolic?
Josiah Reyes
Of these I've listened to The Records, Bran Tchaikovsky, and The Exploding Hearts--rest in peace :(
You ever listen to The Kind or Dwight Twilley?
Hudson James
Hollerado is probably my favourite power pop band, really good.
Ian Bennett
Bah, I used to make power pop threads all the time asking for revs and just got ignored
Teenage Fanclub and The Replacements are 2 of my fav bands ever. Also love Jellyfish and the various side albums/ solo projects like the grays, Jason falkner, roger etc
Mandatory mention to XTC for being a massive influence on them. And The Format/ fun. (well, Aim & Ignite. Less said about Some Nights the better)
Love that Exploding Hearts album, also really love The Posies (Frosting on the Beater esp) and The New Pornographers. And yea, Weezer's good stuff ofc
I always thought Big Star were just okay and feel guilty for not liking them more. Some names here I don't recognise so I'm gonna have to binge tomorrow. Good thread ladz, sorry for the meandering post
Sebastian Bennett
Fountains of Wayne's debut album is steller
Matthew Lewis
Jason Falkner, the guitarist in Jellyfish, is ridiculously talented. His debut solo album should be essential Power Pop.
bumping this so i hope it survives when I get out of work. I'm very interested in getting into more power pop bc I love Weezer, but sometimes I love the acclaimed albums (raspberries, matthew sweet, replacements) and other times theyre pretty bland with a couple amazing songs (cheap trick, fountains of wayne, big star, teenage fanclub, jellyfish). where do i go from here?
Ryan Myers
I am convinced Another Girl, Another Planet is the best power pop track of all time. I'd love to be proven otherwise.
Cameron Bennett
I saw Teenage Fanclub live last week, they still got it
Christian Hughes
Listen to Bandwagonesque and Radio City again.
Dylan Lopez
The original Hanging on the Telephone, or When You Find Out, both by the Nerves.
