How do you make a film this good and make less that 9 Million?

this is my second favorite movie of the year, behind Everybody Wants Some!!

I can't find a figure anywhere but with how obviously green screened the ending was, i can't imagine it was that much. I haven't heard of Everybody wants some, I'll add it to my watchlist.

probably 3 million tops

so it's a success
but it won't get pushed on the award circuit or a wide release

there's a fair bit of buzz around it at the moment so hopefully it gets recognized for some big awards and then goes on to be a much bigger success. Can't believe the kid actually performed all of the songs
