the beatles
You guys meant to say Minutemen, right?
i've never understood the appeal of minutemen. and this is coming from a huge fan of sst and 80s alt punk in general.
they just sound like goofy funk rock
No I meant the Mekons. Most underrated alt-rock band D E S U
I disagree. The Police should've dominated the eighties like the Beatles did in the 60's. They knocked off Thriller at its peak 10 years before Cobain and Co. would defeat a much weaker Jackson album and be proclaimed the band of the decade. If they stuck together for another amazing album or two, us Police-fags would be as vocal as the Beatle-fags. As it is, we have one of pop's most consistently good discographies.
Kate Bush
The Cure
and The Smiths
In that order
Idk where I'd put Joy Division since they started in the 70s but Closer is the best album of the 80s to me.
Yeah, but you posted the wrong one
Cocteau Twins
The Smiths
New Order
New Order are neck and neck with The Smiths for me, especially their earlier post-punk material.
U2 is fucking gay
it's unique in the genre but you gotta focus on the gnarly rhythm sections. Try Jesus and Tequila again
Wall of Voodoo
Pixies
Stone Roses
Swell Maps
>Try Jesus and Tequila again
i'm still not loving it but holy shit i just realized that primus owe their entire career to these guys. specifically that song
I love Stewart Copeland. I think sting is trash without the police
Holy shit. What a completely stupid and just embarasing thing to say. You might want to think about deleting that post.
Seriously.
Big black flag
When
Agreed. I think they had one more very good album left in them. Sting could still write good chunks of great songs, but he missed the other two to fill in the weaker portions. The Police really were more than the sum of their parts
not soon enough
Hard pick but i'd have to say The Chameleons
U2 ruled the 80's by a long shot.
REM for second place
