Where the hell do I start with house music?

Where the hell do I start with house music?

It seems a massive genre with tons of variation in subgenres?

With its first album, like you would any other genre.

When did "house" become different from any other for of electronoc music? Can 90's techno be considered house?

Daft Punk's Homework, go from there

I hope you don't do that, that's so fucking retarded

If you're a pleb go start with EDM and work backwards, if you have any semblance of taste or self respect, skip the EDM and go directly to the predecessors

Easiest to do would be Daft Punk and seeing who they've been influenced by, but you could do better. Listen to some earlier acid house, you could start with some of Aphex Twin's early works, or just go straight to Chicago House.

Also, post this in /bleep/ instead and don't start a thread just to spoonfeed yourself.

>When did "house" become different from any other for of electronoc music?

muh "Karlheinz Stockhausen makes the same music as Coldcut because they make electronic music"
muh "B.B.King makes the same music as Metallica because they make guitar music"

>Can 90's techno be considered house?
No, educate yourself.

House is a singles based genre so you're best of getting a bunch of compilations for the different genres to explore them all.

Start with Chicago and then acid house, there's loads to choose from.

>Daft Pleb
cringe

>also, post this in /bleep/ instead and don't start a thread just to spoonfeed yourself.

Why should all dance music be in one thread while the boards rampant with 20+ rap threads and multiple rock subgenre threads?

>House is a singles based genre

But why?

>implying daft punk aren't one of the single most important and influential producers in house and the wider electronic scene since Kraftwerk

>implying extreme hyperbole

Because it use to dance, no one gonna dance to an entire album you piss of shit newfag

Daft Punk are literally at the forefront of what is considered masterpiece tier electronic in most cases

don't

>(banger)

Here you go OP. A nice B2B boiler set with two of my favorite DJs. 2 hours of house music. No bullshit.

youtu.be/iDsVTBix5_U

discovery is a great album to begin with
other great albums are luomo - vocalcity and DJ sprinkles - midtown 120 blues

but coming from rock you'll find that most house and electronic musicians in general release more singles than albums

Pump Up The Volume
