keep watching

I watched it recently and thought it was fantastic.

>The dried chilli gag

Love that movie, Gibson really surprised me here. The first 45 minutes are pretty boring but definitely finish it.

>Village being marauded and destroyed
>boring

Am I missing something here?

Not enough explosions for most people.

>>Village being marauded and destroyed
>violence maek movie good!!1!
Keep thinking that sport.

The last hour is 10/10. I agree the beginning was a bit weak but keep watching

best film

>village NOT being destroyed is good
fucking millennial kill yourself your argument is so fucking bad its insane how do you even inhale

"I only watch artistic french dramas from the 60s" : The post

Apocalypto is about the fanatical aztecs enslaving and slaughtering, please explain to me how this setting would be a good film without violence?

Fucking turbopleb.

>aztecs

>Based in Mesoamerica
>Aztecs dominated Mesoamerica in the 14th to 16th centuries
>Colombus arrives at the end, year 1492
>Not aztecs

Have you been diagnosed with Autism yet?

stick to capeshits please

Back to r edit

Wait, not colombus, but the Spanish pioneers, meaning this film took place anywhere between the 1490s and 1519.

It's definitely the fucking aztecs.

>happens in Yucatan
>where the Mayans lived
>and the Aztec Empire never gained a foothold
>Columbus never discovered Yucatan

learn2history m8

> vocals by rahat nusrat fateh ali khan
wtf, i thought gibson was a based nazi

>Columbus

That was fucking Cortez on the boat.

Good argument
I win

>Here the Yucatec Maya language is used, with English and other language subtitles (which sometimes refer to the language as Mayan).
>Set in pre-Columbian Yucatan and Guatemala around the year 1511, Apocalypto depicts the journey of a Meso-American tribesman who must escape human sacrifice and rescue his family after the capture and destruction of his village at a time when the Mayan civilization is about to come to an end.

Fucking retards. Jesus Christ, are you b8ing me?

That was Cordoba.

>Cortes arrives end of the film, year 1511
>Hernán Cortés is one of the most well-known Spanish conquistadors. He is best remembered for conquering the Aztec empire
>Aztec Empire

This flim is great but you know the people had beef with it said it was way to violent and racist.

That was one unspecified European conquistador. Probably Cordoba. You fucking mongs. I know it's b8 by this point.

>way to violent and racist.

Some people are beyond hope.

Probably Jews who are still salty about Mel Gibson's rage

which is a shame cuz this nigga can act

Pause your life and eject yourself.
OP sounds like a Generation Z 2000 born fagglet who grew up with an iPhone and has the attention span of Kanye West's farts.

Jaguar Paw and the other captives are to be sacrificed on a column-shaped stone to appease the gods and avert a drought, this type of sacrifice was never used in Mayan culture, this was specifically an Aztec practice.

Yes, the bad guys in the film were named as Mayan, however their practices(such as the village raiding and enslavement didn't happen historically. So if anyone got it wrong, its was Based Mel, the setting reflects both Mayan and Aztec culture but never settles directly on one.

Finally a decent answer.

Mel didn't get it wrong, he intentionally did away with historicity for the sake of plot, action and message. And he did film in Yucatan(well, Veracruz). He reproduced the Tikal ziggurats for the film, and certain things(eating the heart of the sacrificed) are Aztec, but Mayans did do ritual sacrifices.

And the plague destroying their lands happened considerably earlier, 9th-10th century. However, the setting was fucking amazingly done, the costumes and visuals top notch and the action is 10/10. I'd say this is the best film of the past 10-15 years.

Stop leaving parentheses open, you brump.

s-sorry senpai

Yeah despite the historical flaws it was a pretty great film, Definitely kino tier, I hope Mel does some more films about forgotten history

>Watching the exiled tribe unveil itself from the forest
>dream sequence with guys stomach in his palm
>Lessons from Jaguar Paw's father about fear
>Story from old man at campfire about mans relation with earth and how fear with cause him to consume until there's nothing left
>Boring

Yea, op is a fucking faggot. Hell probably watch the rest of the movie and think it sucks because it didn't deliberately tell him what to think while its themes encompass a world view and relate to the entire history of humanity

the best bit is when the aliens nuke the village from low earth orbit.

This movie is awesome. You're shit posting, and a faggot, if you even remotely dislike it.

>dream sequence with guys stomach in his palm
That was his heart, bro.

OP here.Listened these guys and watched whole movie.

Good movie not great as Braveheart but definetly solid flick.
