working on the arrangement, still not mixed so get your headphones, doing detail and subliminal work but not compressed nor mixed yet
i dont have a fragile ego plz feel free to shit on my track, i want to make it better
drums are placeholders in term of sound design, rythm patterns are still finding their way but i think its 80%, unless you think its shit, please say
also post your tracks i will give my best to constructively criticize in a less violent way that i want you to criticize mine, if my track were a pussy i want you to deform my track in a way that it would no longer be able to bear childs

Montevideo has weird charrua-rock not heard anywhere else
Buenos Aires rock is quite unique too doe it takes to heart the latin indians with electric guitars trope, has this two as main plates
under sounds to me like a long trip in car through dreamy landscapes, mainstream is more 80ish i could go on and on about its influences but better not
What's a VST that I can use to program a drum pattern? Like using a real 808.

Anyone here heard the latest Arca? I was wondering if the sounds in songs like Anoche are just processed piano. It sounds like it to me, but can't be sure.
Also, how do you think one goes about processing instruments like pianos? Process single notes by themselves and add them together later, or entire chords at once?
Nolan Baker
It's a synth layered on top of a piano, the weird effect isn't from the piano itself but rather from the synth layer on top.
Henry Sullivan
for the initial sound at least, lateron he fucks with the piano too, lots of pitch modulation.
Wyatt Barnes
Really? Sounds like the high notes are some heavily processed piano, whereas the lower ones are just processed to sound a bit dull and wonky
Well, i don't know. I'm not exactly super experienced. What point exactly do you mean when you say "later on" ?
Joshua Gomez
About 0:20. It seems that he's both fuckin around with the piano but I think he also has some synths playing, also it sounds like off by some cents a lot so you get that detuned sounding effect at parts.

Is there any point to attaching acoustic foam panels to a ceiling?
Wyatt Barnes
name one song with a synth that actually sounds good
Any tips on how to get into Max/MSP for an Intel user? Do I just need to make a partition and install OS X + Max?
Joseph Watson
what? it isn't specific to mac
Owen Rivera
Retard here
What's the difference between Max and Max for Live that is included in Ableton Live?
Wyatt Russell
one is standalone, one is for ableton
Hudson Anderson
yeah, but are they essentially the same thing or is Max for Live like a "Lite" version, since it doesn't cost any money and actual Max license is like 400 buckaroos
Bentley Harris
Well, I've never actually seen anyone using it on Windows. Isn't a windows version somewhat limited in functionality? (That's what I also heard a few years ago.)
Carson Cooper
No, the only difference is during live settings Macs are more reliable.
Luis Jackson
Absolutely dazzling shit-cans.
Adam Mitchell
Pls redpill me on algorithmic/glitch music. What type of synth and/or patch would produce this kind of stuff? Or rather what kind of algorithms one would engage to aim for such specific sequences?
Which monitors/headphones do you use for production, /prod/?
I've got a pair of Rokit 5s sitting in an untreated room, recently got myself the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro and realized how badly I have to treat my room... The Rokits are nice but the bass just goes all over the place in my room.
Jeremiah Brown
Granular synthesis can get you stuff like this easily.
This is super weird.
AKG K44's because I'm poor as shit.
Jeremiah Baker
Weird un a good way? owo
Nicholas Cox
Nah, firstly I don't really understand what you're doing but it doesn't sound good.
I know this sucks. What can I do to make it suck less? I don't know what I'm doing.
Gavin Myers
clyp.it/yhmdtdeo Instrumental I've recorded vocals for (haven't edited them yet), I feel like its missing something, like another instrument. Tried strings but not 100% thats the solution, any suggestions?
I think after vocals are over it it will sound good. That's three distinct musical elements. Don't feel the need to pack everything as tightly as you can. Sparsity and Density are just two more values you can modulate in order to create variation within music. When I listen to an album where everything is packed as densely as possible at all times I get fatigued.
Adrian Cruz
Thanks, although I have listened to it with vocals (there's a few edits and mix tweaks I want to do first before I want people to hear it) and it still sounds a little bit bare. I'll try leaving it for a while and see. Thanks
Brandon Thompson
Add a bass for starters, also the vocals just sound off key.
Strings could fit, also I'd add some more background elements, maybe more percussion, some pads?
Lucas Miller
anyone know a better max for live midi envelope than this one?
it's really close to being what i'm looking for, but the actual envelope drawing is kind of shit. you can't delete points unless you delete them all and if you miss the point you're trying to move by even a little bit you'll end up with another point you can't get rid of
because you can't trigger it with incoming notes like you can with the max device
Bentley Lee
trigger the envelope with notes, why not knobs or mod wheel?
Lucas Lewis
why would i want to have to hit the mod wheel/ turn a knob every time i hit a note when i could just link the envelope directly to the incoming notes though?
Josiah Jenkins
I don't get what you're doing, what element are you enveloping?
Kevin Thomas
any parameter, it's the same as linking an envelope to a parameter in a synth, except you have the option of doing it to any parameter in any vst
I've been recording on Garageband for the past year. I just found out that you can open Garageband files in Logic, so I pirated that shit.
What are the best plugins for Logic (that also work on a mac)?
Michael Anderson
>using randomized patches ever wew
Brayden Butler
maxMSP envelope plugins are kinda fucking shit because they can't record the automation unless something has changed recently. correct me if im wrong, because id love to record maxMSP automation.
i use midishaper but the problem is if you want to record it needs to go over IAC bus(or midiloopback for windows) which means 8ms of latency that needs to accounted for by nudging the automation lane which is an annoyance. the only other work around is mapping it with midi learn which doesn't let you record it.
neither solution is elegant imo, its shit like this which drives me insane about music production. it could be easily fixed if the DAW makers would implement feedback they get from users.
Brayden Perry
can anyone recommend a good plugin for viewing clashing frequencies from two tracks? already tried voxengo but its awful
Mason Bailey
>viewing clashing frequencies from two tracks what did he mean by this
Elijah Gomez
T H I C C
Kayden Hill
BlueCat FreqAnalyst Multi
i cant remember how they communicate between all the channels, some of multiband freq analyzers use some really fucking annoying routing options to get all the "data" from each track whichs makes it super cumbersome to use in reality
there isnt alot of good plugins in that area desu because most good engineers can map that data in their head by ear and EQ from there
its nice to have if you are a visual learner but it can be a crutch where you are just sculpting the them into very different bands when in reality a good engineer will have some overlap
Julian Hughes
how do you cut vocals quickly without sounding flat? i have issues with this
Jaxson Stewart
fucking degen would've never got into his music if I knew

Hey guys, I've posted here some times before, I'm that guy who does unoriginal stuff and samples Lithuanian stuff.
I'm working on a new song that sort of imitates the Boards of Canada sound, but is way more boring than BoC. Obviously it's not yet finished and some parts are really stupid and not thought out, but I'd like to hear some general thoughts:
