Despite all the controversy over Fury Road it was still a good movie. A comedy movie that isn't funny won't be good at the end of the day.

>Fury Road it was still a good movie
You need to grow up.

Not him, but it was.

It was the culmination of a vision that was nominated for best film.

Faggot.

>Fury Road it was still a good movie
And despite that a commercial failure

They shouldn't have spent $145M making this movie.

They should have tried to do it with $60-$80M and cut down on the special effects. They wound up looking shit anyway

Fury road was as anti-feminist as films come.
Woman makes plan
It goes wrong
Man fixes things
Woman wants to walk across dried oceans
Man says that's stupid and fixes things

WE DID IT, GUYS!

The difference between this and Spy and The Heat is that Ghostbusts is more than three times as expensive as those were.

Green Lantern was a fucking flop, and First Class was good.

>some one has a different opinion than me

Nah you need to grow up

>July 14
did he wrote that at 0:00?

And how legit is this?
Seeing pic as the prof that the author didnt researched it properly
Or was there some release change?

I'm not going to see it because it looks awful, but I'm glad it didn't flop because I like Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon

>375 million dollars worldwide on a 145million dollar budget
Megafailure!

Nope, it'll be lucky to reach 45 million. It's not even projected to make back it's cost of filming and advertising. lol. How are you this delusional?

And every woman that wasn't Furiosa was either worthless or horribly murdered. Even Queen Sarkeesian didn't think it was a feminist film; it had one strong female character who was more of a main character than the titular male character but that doesn't really make it a feminist fantasy.

>they have to use green lantern as proof it's not a bomb

wew lad

375 / 2
- 145
- 145
=
(neg)102.5

Don't give a fuck. In one year's time this movie will be pretty much forgotten.

>Wrong about TFA
>Wrong about Fury Road
>Wrong about Ghostbusters

Do Gobblegremlins ever get tired of getting BTFO?

>145M budget
I'm talking about ghostbusters there

MMFR had a $150M budget, spent another $150M on P&A, and only took in $375M worldwide

The general forumula is that after production costs, P&A, taxes and INTL licensing (up to 50% can be lost here), and all other costs a movie needs to make triple it's budget to be considered a good ROI.

>$300M spent
>$375M brought in
That's a commercial failure

I loved the movie and I'm glad it's critically acclaimed but it didn't perform well monetarily

It's going to flop and China isn't going to save it.

With it's $144 million I don't see them doing well.

REMINDER BEFORE THEY CHANGE THIS!!

>As opening day approaches, Feig can’t help but think about the stakes of making a $150 million movie. “A movie like this has to at least get to like $500 million worldwide, and that’s probably low,” he says. “But the thing I care about most is the industry looking for an excuse to say, ‘See, a tentpole can’t be carried by female leads’” — three of whom are over 40. “I cashed in all my chips,” he says. “I had to use every chip to make this happen. And if this doesn’t work, I will probably have to go back to movie jail.”

>“A movie like this has to at least get to like $500 million worldwide, and that’s probably low,”
>“A movie like this has to at least get to like $500 million worldwide, and that’s probably low,”

fuck i forgot the link

>Trying to use Green Lantern and X-men First Class as sucesful measuring sticks.

First Class is one of the lowest box office of all the X-films just above The Wolverine.

Green Lantern under performed so bad, it threw a wrench in DC's shared universe plan.

Never watched it, what even was "feminist" about that movie anyway?

I mean Ghostbusters is just a shitty reboot with a gimmick.

Why did we britbongs get the first serving of this shit? What did we do to deserve it?

Screencap and archive that shit.

>From a PG-13 perspective, a few other films that had similar Thursday performances include

>Pacific Rim (domestic bomb)
>Independence Day: Resurgence (domestic bomb)
>Warcraft (huge domestic bomb)
>San Andreas (successful unknown property with starring current box office viagra and a smaller budget)

WEW LAD

>It's just like Fury Road!
Fury Road, despite it's accolades, didn't do well in the box office.

Since when does a bunch of basement dwellers know better than the people behind it? If they have a target of 50 million domestic, then they have a target of 50 million domestic

Stop trying to use mental gymnastics to say that it isn't somehow their target and needs to make a lot more

Why did you Brexit?
Just kidding.

UK film critics are general more lenient than US ones
UK moviegoers are less vocal than US ones.

It's safe for studios to premier in Europe because they can keep the ratings high and use them as promotion to try and drum up excitement for the wide release. Then Americans get their hands on it and tear it to shreds

Picturing this is a mid-200m worldwide range movie. That seems about right for the confluence of factors here (whiny feminists turning out in force on one hand, but at the same time it's a tired remake with no positive word of mouth/repeat viewing).

50mil is the target they're hoping to get due to the tracking and circumstances. Doesn't mean it's a good number, especially considering the budget.

>Ghostbusters fell shy of the $4.6 million Thursday start of Pitch Perfect 2 last year, as well as the $5.5 million of 22 Jump Street in 2014.

>“A movie like this has to at least get to like $500 million worldwide, and that’s probably low,”

>I don't understand what the target means

You fucking think that Sony doesn't want a bigger target?

>we made enough!

Said no fucking studio ever! If they said "WE WANT TO MAKE 100 MILLION IN THE FIRST WEEKEND DOMESTIC!"

Their stock would drop when it fucking failed to reach half of that! The "target" is a realistic number the studio predicts based on tracking

>Never watched it
WHY

Tracking /= Target. Target is how much you want to make, tracking is what you are going to end up making. Very different things.

Their "$50M target" is for the opening weekend not the whole fucking run

PROJECTIONS ARE NOT TARGETS

THEIR TARGET IS 500MIL(LOW) FOR PROFITABILITY

IE BEFORE THE MOVIE TAKES HOME A SINGLE CENT, IT HAS TO GROSS 500 MILLION (CLOSER TO 600 MILLION)

DO YOU KNOW WHAT FLOP MEANS? BECAUSE YOURE LOOKING AT IT IN GHOSTBUSTERS(2016)

>boxofficemojo.com/studio/chart/?studio=sony.htm

I seriously need to see how this is doing overseas. I can't imagine foreign plebs wanting to watch this shit.

>yfw sony has only had 12 movies hit 200 million domestic

It has a female main character, they save a bunch of slave wives. I really don't see why people are complaining and I am usually a Sup Forumstard when it comes to that type of shit in movies.

I bet at least three if them are spiderman related if not all.

>OG Ghostbusters is number 7
What happened to them calling this current shit Ghostbusters: Answer The Call?
Did they say fuck it and go for the full nostalgia plot?

>only 2 movies in their top 10 are from the last 10 years
>Original Ghostbusters is still in the top 10
Just sad
I bet if you adjusted this for inflation it'd be even worse

>Did they say fuck it and go for the full nostalgia plot?
Feig threw a temper tantrum and insisted on a reboot because a sequel meant the girls didn't invent the gadgets themselves

I'm look at this and thought to myself "Did Amy Pascal just go to this site go down the line and say MIB and Ghostbusters were successes lets do a reboot of one and have a crossover with 21 Jump Street with the others."
Just think this could have been an MIB reboot.

>Since when does a bunch of basement dwellers know better than the people behind it?

They seem to know better than you.

Yeah but the name. Why are they keeping the name?

>Why are they keeping the name?
Probably more favorable among test groups

Australia here, most people seem to think it's hilariously bad and a lot of women think feminism is a joke outside of the city centers.

>Just think this could have been an MIB reboot.
>Melissa McCarthy as K
>Leslie Jones as J

Please no

It doesn't matter, what matters is that outside the movie, it was called feminist filth much like Ghosbuters 2016.

>Just think this could have been an MIB reboot.

Fuck that! I liked MiB3 so it could have been MiB4!

It made 624 million!

There was a story that they were changing it to Ghostbusters: Answer The Call as a means to please detractors and get them off their backs but after they got backup from the SJWs and numales they said fuck it and kept it Ghostbusters. They don't want there to be a way to differentiate the two so the masses will be oblivious this isn't a sequel or has zero connection when they pay for their ticket.

What is the other -145 for? Marketing?

>I liked MiB3

Okay, guys, shitposting is fun but there are limits.

>wrong about ghostbusters
It is getting beat by life of pets lol

i want it to publicly bomb so they can't even say it made average profits. i can see attempts to spin it even if it makes 50 million.

Promotion and Advertising

Studios almost religiously spend just as much on P&A as they do on production

>Did Amy Pascal just go to this site go down the line and say MIB and Ghostbusters were successes
That's pretty much the story of how Fant4stic was made. Sony was going down a list of properties they weren't going to have for long and made a movie to keep the rights.
I think Ghostbusters was the same they kept it on the back burner because Harold Ramis had some kind of rights via a contract and once he die they were free to do what ever.

>what even was "feminist" about that movie anyway?

You should have learned by now that pissing babby men will call anything feminist at this point.

They're going to spin it regardless.
The Good Dinosaur flopped (due to poor marketing on Disney's end) and it was still spun when the DVD came around.

MiB3 was underrated! fite me!

Pretty much this.

They'll say they're really happy with the commercial performance and that'll be the end of it. People will argue over whether or not it was profitable enough for a sequel.

Then they'll announce a MIB reboot

>Pacific Rim (domestic bomb)

>Have modern performers cover the iconic Ghostbusters theme.
>chose this piece of crap youtube.com/watch?v=TE3ADdsjqkc to use in all the promotions
>not this one youtube.com/watch?v=Dlk_ub2TQnE

They're so fucking dumb

They probably spent about 200-300 million in promotion and marketing
I mean christ they are using the empire state building for a whole week. The fact that it looks like it already lost this Friday to life of pets is embarssing enough. If it fails to Saturday it will be a failure for never coming number 1 and shilling it to death. At best they need to hope to make a killing at SEVERAL other markets and I can't see many countries eating this shit up

Female character saves a bunch of wives. The wives are badasses, too. They meet up with more women who are older and also badass.

That's the extent of the feminism. It was a good movie.

Despite having female leads and a bunch of female characters, the best character was Nux. Unlike the rest, his story and character progression was the best.

Max was boring. Furiosa was boring.

Secret Life of Pets
>budget: Estimated 75M
>open: $103M
That pic openly admits that the animated dog show blows the fuck out of Ghostbusters while competing with Finding Dory. The next few days of shitposting over this are going to be entertaining.

Just watch it user. I promise you it's worth the price of a bluray rental.

MIB>MIB:TAS>MIB3>>>>MIB2

>They probably spent about 200-300 million in promotion and marketing
And paying off critics and internet shills

They went pretty all-out here in London. Waterloo station had plastic slime everywhere, a stay-puft guy bursting out of the floor, and some sort of shop/shed thing selling tshirts and whatever. It wasn't exactly mobbed.

>The fact that it looks like it already lost this Friday to life of pets
Where did you get this from?

I blame Pokemon Go for putting Pokemon into Ghostbusters screenings.

Actually people are blaming PokemonGo for people not wanting to go to the movies this weekend

Which do you think kids will want to see more in the dog days of summer?
A movie about 4 middle aged women telling queef jokes and fighting shitty CGI fedora ghosts?
Or
An animated movie about talking animals doing crazy stuff while they owners are away?

I work at a movie theater and just got off work. Many box office sources are saying it's coming out on top. It was projected too anyway so it's not much of a shocker. Kinda sad really, was one of the calmest Friday shifts I have ever had.

50 MIL? YAAASSSSSS !!!!

guess how much your precious fucking Bill Murray version made on it's opening weekend... I just looked it up BARELY FUCKING 13 million.
UHHH Remind me again how female fronted blockbusters "don't make money"??? REMIND me again how "women aren't funny" REMIND me again how this film pales in comparison to the "original"?

>A SOLID 3.4 they said

Sure, but people sometimes do shit I don't understand

Retarded tripfag. Checks out

Sup Forums made the mistake of making Anita popular now they're paying the price.

>SJWs don't foot the bills, just make a lot of noise about what they want.

The sooner people realize this, the better. That's why I want to see this movie fall on its face.

Why are people pandering to these idiots? Their only mission in life is to ruin everything.

If there were 2 SJWs left on the planet they would fight each other to the death.

Congratulations you win, humanity is finished. You ruined fucking everything.

I hope it does less than 100 million worldwide when it is all said and done.

This shit has to stop.

>women exist in a movie
>F-F-FUCKING SJWS

Did you copy that comment from reddit?

You should go back there.

I was kind of surprised at this. I really thought he was just going to fade out of relevancy at some point but he just keeps moving forward as a character.
Truly a man to forever ride the highways of Valhalla.

Also atleast at my theater secret life of pets sold about 3 times as many as ghostbusters. It will close the gap tonight and might do better Saturday, but still all and all a pathetic showing

call me whatever you like BRO, the objective figures back me up

...

meh tier bait

Give it a rest cuckfag

Woman gets mortally wounded
Man comes to her rescues and saves her

but it's true

>>SJWs don't foot the bills, just make a lot of noise about what they want.
That's sort of the Internet in general - remember Snakes on a Plane?

>get BTFO'd
>F-F-FUCKING KEKS

We get it you are completely retarded and don't understand inflation let alone the rising price of movie ticket. Wake me up when it beats it's inflated final box office numbers

Sure do. It was better than this piece of crap.

Sorry shills, but you're probably not receiving your final paycheck.

Shill away, but those funds will have dried up after this weekend.

DO IT FOR THE GREATER GOOD, BECAUSE YOU AIN'T GETTING PAID, LOL!

>get btfo
4 words
Secret life of pets

We're in America, Chinky. Where the movie cost $190mil but only made $102mil.

Wow, have you not paid attention to what got this movie greenlit in the first place and how it is marketed?

The ENTIRE thing was relying on the SJW mentality of praising things for having vaginas in it.
