In the Court of the Crimson King > Thick as a Brick

Jethro Tull is low tier.

...

do we have an image that separates prog bands into tiers? i'd like to see it.

I guess but that's not a high bar to begin with

Faust exists

Yes, Soft Machine, Gentle Giant were miles ahead of them

Both are the top two without a doubt, only question is which is #1.

no

if not we could make one

Canterbury scene =/= progressive rock

>falling for the gentle giant meme

Great album, but there isn't a single part of it as intense as Fripp's solo on 21st Century Schizoid Man. It's got an impressive and better level of cohesiveness and thematic development, but overall, itcock's way better musically.

43 minutes of average guitar music with a few interesting vocal lines
>masterpiece

It's the rock side of fusion. Which is usually classed as prog. But bands like Soft Machine also came out of much rockier music that wasn't all too much like the jazz-rock they're more known for.

"guitar music"

kys

where can i stream king crimsons albums?

You're too offended that people in this thread don't listen to superior artists like St. Vincent, right?

Except when it comes to Thick as a Brick or Songs from the Wood.

TAAB doesn't have 10 minutes of bland noodling either. Don't care if that makes me a "pleb" or some such shit.

nowhere

Fripp is the prog equivalent, really.

It's not even the best King Crimson album

...

this
streaming is industry cancer but i wish fripp would do bandcamp

...

My nigga.

im offended people itt dont listen to superior artists such as bob dylan or tvun
plus im pretty sure st vincent was a movie

Arguably the weakest Mars Volta album

...

a 2/10, would you say?

Umm what about foxtrot/sebtp ?

I would agree but this exists

VDGG a shit, just listen to Henry Cow and stop wasting your time

Came here to post this.

Argue which is their best, if not this.

>genesis
>not complete shit
kys

>Genesis
>not GOAT

Fucking plebs

>You've got to see the show, it's rock and roll

INTO A DRIED UP RIVER BED
BUT DON'T TRY TO TELL HIM
'CAUSE HE WON'T BELIEVE YOU

what is this image from

>The first ever prog album is the best one.
What a shitty music genre, lol.

2/10.

No, this is.

kinda like shoegaze

this

my my my

...

I don't really see the value in discussing music on those terms

These two along with pic related are contenders.

>not Wish You Were Here

>Guardians of a new clear dawn, let's the maps of war be drawn.
God, that part always hype me

meme

Greatest intro ever to grace rock.

Neither Third or Tago Mago are Prog if we're being picky.

came here to post this

Yes they are you retard

"I'll take what utter plebs say for 1000, Alex."

meddle is absolute trash other than echoes and that is their best song.

I guess if you want to argue Third, even if it's more Jazz Fusion/Canterbury. Tago Mago is built around lots of repetition, not "progressive" at all.

>15 minutes of random stings
overrated af my djude

No

Good taste user

Loveless is not the first shoegaze album, you pleb.

stop being wrong you guys

Troll with this one instead.

1/5

...

krautrock is not prog rock

Maybe if you have a distorted, Anglocentric view of what prog actually means

this desu

not even the best king crimson album

lol

I'm literally german and that garbage has nothing to do with krautrock

that's one of the worst KC albums

mmm nice taste

...

...

refined taste senpai. great album

nah

Pale Communion is one of my favorites too.

Members of Amon Duul II were vehemently opposed to the term krautrock, and maintained that they are German prog rock.

>No pictures at an exhibition ITT

>that pic
Kek

Great records for sure, but not as complete as Lamb

Bedlam in Goliath, easily.

wow i never thought of that

Krautrock can be any genre. It's not an actual genre in itself, it's just a blanket term for the underground music scene in Germany in the 70's. Which included many prog rock bands among other types of bands.

...

ha
do i need to explain to you what the word "kinda" means?

*Cough Cough*

Karn Evil 9 is perhaps the greatest medley ever written

you're all plebs

>henry cow
lol

I dare someone with enough balls to say that they like Tales of Topographic Oceans

Good taste

My personal favorite prog album

RIP John Wetton

Clearly someone NOT thick as a brick.

>tfw when the chorus of what was meant to be the grand finale of your band ends up incidentally name dropping two hentai series.

In a world without TAAB, it's an incredibly high contender

Why has no one posted the greatest Rock 'n' Roll album ever conceived?

It's the best I could find
