just a heads up, and i i don't know if this has changed in the last 5 years, but when my wife went to school bsn was more theory and "management" (for lack of a better word) type training, while rns were getting more clinical hours and real experience, which she found frustrating. so be sure to check out the hiring requirements for places you'd like to work and how the schools allot hours.

My mom has been an RN all my life. She supports 2 kids AND her husband while he goes to school. And I think shes paying for his school. Its insane how much money they make. Yeah.. Stuff is changing all the time. I'm definitely gonna look into it soon. I'm already registering for my prerequisites.

I feel like I have actually found my passion. I have been told by all my RNs that I should go through the County program and get licensed. Talking to patients just came to naturally for me. I'm very excited to go through school. And I'll just keep sitting till then. Maybe 3/4 of the way through become a CNA and experience the slavery for a short time before my last block. They don't make much more than me.

i never understand this policy. at my hospital security isn't allowed to touch pts. so when some one call a code gray they stand around and wait to file paperwork while the orderlies all run up and jump on the dude (usually the best part of our day).

I was once working in the ER, and there they have a 'Red Gown Hall'. Its a hall that is closed off for the crazies. I was having a pretty smooth day. But right before I was about to leave, a little old lady that had been chill all day, gets all her shit together and all her clothes on and starts to head for the door. I fucking jump up,
"Hey user, where you going?"
This cute little thing goes, "Well, its almost 5, and i need to catch my bus home."
"No, You have to stay here..."
"Listen here! I've worked my 8 hours! Now let me go home! My Shift is over!"
She would refuse to believe that she was in the hospital and kept heading for the door. Eventually 5 security guys met up with her and talked her back in her room.

A house keeper walked by (A good friend of mine) and she goes "Yeah, it would take 5 big guys to take me back in my room too.."

It was kinda sad, but funny. She insisted she had been working all day and needed to go home. She was quiet the last hour I was there.

I help them with what ever they need. I find excuses to get up and do stuff. I used to house keep, so I'll clean their room, make their bed.
I have to chart behavior and sometimes what they void.
Depending on the patient, sometimes we play cards. Sometimes we watch movies.

He was there due to kidney issues. But he needed a sitter the entire time, because he was still suicidal. Thankfully he didn't TRY while he was there, I don't think, but the psych doc never cleared him. He left the hospital to go to a psych ward... For further evaluation.
