mine too
it has hooked me

It hasn't come out yet but Lana Del Rey's Lust For Life

to continue the theme this is probably mine too

same

It's that one desu.

Would be Ulver too atm

on a crossover kick

did you mean to write 'The Assassination of Julius Caesar'?

so far top 5:

kairon IRSE - ruination
clap! clap! - a thousand skies
tigran hamasyan - an ancient observer
chicano batman - freedom is free
migos - culture (lol)

haven't listened to ulver or hauschka yet

new Kairon is very good, heard good things about new Tigran too

new John Zorn is great as well

Not much has happened so far this year but so far This.

This is my current favourite, and will probably be my AOTY.

>tigran hamasyan - an ancient observer

thanks for the reminder my guy, need to listen to it asap

kairon; IRSE is probably top for me so far. prefer it to their last album a lot.

Going to give the Ulver one a listen, though it's been a long time since they haven't disappointed.

i like this a lot

didn't you like Messe or ATGCLVCPALMNOP?

>ATGCLVLSCAP
eh, it's not bad, but nothing special

Messe was probably their best the past decade though, you're right on that.

just checked this out.

wouldn't be my AOTY, but I'm happy there are still bands making music like this

Same boat as me.

What a great little record

2017's been kind of uneventful for me besides Arca. I'm liking Toby Driver's Madonnawhore pretty well, though

>Ulver is top AOTY contender for most of Sup Forums

/metal/ here, Ulver going synthpop from black metal was just a prank bro, it is funny how you are that shit up.

>/metal/ here

...

What the fuck is this. What was Ulver thiking

> What was Ulver thiking

The shape of things to come, as usual.

It reminds me so much of slower Devin Townsend songs

they thought they could do Depeche Mode better than Depeche Mode, and they were right

Drunk is just a load of half baked ideas thrown aimlessly together, kind of like a decent soundcloud mixtape but still subpar

it's actually great , i take that back

not listened to much so far this year but probably either TAOJS or the new Caretaker album

...

I know a lot of people hate several tracks on this, but I enjoyed every single one.

Nu-males, the thread..

Dang

...

It just seems like radio buttrock to me, but I've only heard a couple. Any in particular you'd recommend to check out?

oh dang you sure got me user, better go back to le reddit hadn't I? XDDDD

this

.
Steambreather
Roots Remain
Scorpion Breath
Jaguar God

really need to give this a listen

top 5 for the year so far are

> Grails - Chalice Hymnal
> All Them Witches - Sleeping Through the War
> Blanck Mass - World Eater
> Old Tower - Rise of the Spectre
> Ascended Dead - Abhorrent Manifestation

>tfw you promise yourself you'll keep up with upcoming albums but end up just going through your backlog

oh well, still new music i guess

i love this album

the only thing that's caught my ear was the pallbearer and Kairon, IRSE! stuff. Im not sure how to feel about Ulver's journey to this kind of music. I love their black metal. Their folk/ambiet is good. This is good but i just feel so odd

shit son i just heard OP's post and holy shit this is great

Same here, it's fucking great

wow really surprised how well they pulled this off. is there a more versatile music group?

how come there have been no truly standout albums this year? like stuff from the past few years that was deeply conceptual philosophically, complex musically, and masterfully presented-- angel's rig hook, american drift, human story 3, the ark work, etc. masterful singular works? theres plenty of ok stuff but nothing groundbreaking like the ones i listed

SWING OF THE AXE

listening right now and holy FUCK is this good. jesus

yup yup. better than a crow looked at me, for me

...

What the fuck has happened to Ulver

This is terrible

Arca hits that mark for me desu

this

1. Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me
2. Blanck Mass - World Eater
3. Xiu Xiu - Forget
4. Utopianisti - Brutopianisti
5. Foxygen - Hang
6. Stabscotch - Uncanny Valley
7. Wiley - Godfather
8. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - Flying Microtonal Banana
9. Power Trip - Nightmare Logic
10. Idles - Brutalism
11. Sampha - Process
12. Priests - Nothing Feels Natural
13. Ty Segall - Ty Segall
14. Remo Drive - Greatest Hits
15. Dope Knife - NineteenEightyFour
16. Jaime Wyatt - Felony Blues
17. Jonwayne - Rap Album Two
18. Quelle Chris - Being You Is Great, I Wish I Could Be You More Often
19. Litku Klemetti - Juna Kainuuseen
20. Havok - Conformicide
21. Pallbearer - Heartless
22. The Pablo Collective - The Death of Pablo
23. Uniform - Wake in Fright
24. Paul White - Everything You’ve Forgotten
25. Shackleton & Vengeance Tenfold - Sferic Ghost Transmits

this is it so far, at least

pretty bad taste desu

My Top 3 so far:

Ulver - The Assassination of Julius Caesar
The Committee - Memorandum Occultus
Black Magick SS - Kaleidoscope Dreams

Haven't heard any of those but Havok, and they are shit

thanks lads. I can always count on Sup Forums for some good recommendations and constructive comments

This and Ulver's new album, easily.

the instrumentation throughout the album is AMAZING, but some songs, especially songs like Baybee, the lead singer sounds like the 100% typical indie girl in an indie rock group. Still, definitely not a bad album

the instrumentation is just as typical and generic tho?

>people have never heard anything else from Ulver but Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal
really makes you think

overrated
peep this instead

>Garm calls himself Trickster G
Looks like it.

This album is too moody even for me

Exactly everything that's came out this year has either been boring or mediocre, it's around this time of the year that an aoty drops but we should see if that changes when Kendrick drops next week

New Soulwax ain't bad either

youtube.com/watch?v=YxqeDUJWX9U

the best hip-hop to come out in a while, refreshing after how nothing great came out in 2016

Agree with this and Sampha - Process

Literally looped it for 15 times when it came out

A O T Y

And the brand new Michelle Branch might get a 4.0

>new Michelle Branch
any bangers on the new album, something that bumps in the whip?

i've had You Set Me Free on repeat the past few days
youtube.com/watch?v=neVuLCWzPfo

I'm not sure but offhand I wanna say no unfortunately. However since the album is so long and otherwise pretty solid, I think it still might add up to a 4
