i know ableton pretty well but I just can't bring myself to finish a track. sometimes i'll get blackout drunk and wake up and see that I made something pretty decent but it's never finished. I know I can make cool shit but how to get over the blank canvas stage? anyone have any advice for this

This trend is dumb and you're dumb. Do something extremely bloated just to break past it, then strip it down. Sometimes it's hard to visualize yourself actually completing something because you simply aren't familiar with the feeling. Once you get in the swing of it you'll be fine. Most people are going to disagree with me on this but instead of saving project files just export whatever you have, no stems. Kill of tweaking it any further and just let it be. This will help you accept letting go/finishing. It's not like you'll never make anything else anyway.

if you have no musical background and only 3 months into it that's not bad, you still need to work a bit on your melody to bass relation, it's not terrible dissonant or anything but you just have to fuck around with scales and chords a bit more, also getting a small midi keyboard will help. join prod discord senpai

>clyp.it/xtav2fc2 I liked it! Not much to comment on since it's so short, some more progression would be nice - add more elements and make the piece more complex while keeping the eerie/creepy feel would be good.
I like the use of the vocal sample in the beginning and the way that it transitions into the drums then changes, the bass works really well with the kick also (around 0:32)
What you've got so far is a good base for a track, I would keep adding new things and experimenting with techniques, maybe incorporate a bridge/chorus where you switch it up a bit, then go back to the main part. I'm not great at building stuff from scratch so my advice might not make much sense but I think this track has potential.
