Hey, Sup Forums! Today I've got some time, so I'm gonna redpill you on the music of my country: Portugal.
For some reason, nobody talks about Portuguese music in this board. Don't know the reason, but that's a shame, since we have tons of great musicians that you should, at the very least, be aware of.
So I'm gonna power rank them, and then you decide if you want to listen them or not.
KEK TIER:
>Quim Barreiros (you probably won't understand the subtlety of the lyrics if you don't speak Portuguese, though, and it may sound like garbage if so)
ELDER GOD TIER:
>Heróis do Mar (Sea Heroes. Check out Saudade, Amor, Brava Dança dos Heróis and Fado)
GOD TIER:
>GNR (NOT guns and roses, try to translate their lyrics, specially Morte ao Sol, Pronúncia do Norte and Pós-Modernos)
>Canto Alentejano (Folk music from Alentejo. Best tradicional music in Portugal. Vitorino, Janita Salomé and Ronda dos Quatro Caminhos are the best)
>Carlos Seixas (composer from XVII century. Our Bach)
>António Variações (our Freddy Mercury, but actually good and a visionary)
GREAT TIER:
>Amália Rodrigues (best Fado singer ever)
>Sétima Legião
>Rui Veloso
>Roberto Leal (HE AIN´T BRAZILIAN!)
>rest of folk music, specially from Miranda do Douro and Rancho Folclórico
>medieval music (Cantigas de Amigo, de Amor)
GOOD TIER:
>Xutos e Pontapés
>Madredeus
>Moonspell (our version of heavy metal. They are actually really good)
>rest of Fado
>all the bands that sing in English (like The Gift, David Fonseca)
OK TIER:
>Portuguese rappers. They are good, but not as good as the rest. The older it is, the better
>Rock bands from the 80s that weren't yet mentioned, like Taxi, UHF, Radio Macau
PLEB TIER:
>Portuguese mainstream rappers of nowadays
>Pimba that is not Quim Barreiros
>Tony Carreira
SHIT TIER:
>David Carreira
>Mickael Carreira
Also, check this Portuguese bands on youtube, that may be more of Sup Forums's taste:
>First Breath After Coma
>Best Youth
>Legendary Tigerman
Listen and enjoy it!
