I have a $1500 laptop that is practically bricked because the idiots at Microsoft can't figure out how to fix the "100℅ disk usage" issue. Bunch of fucking twats
It's shit like this...
I don't think it's that bad, but windows 7 is better in my opinion
That sounds like a you problem, I've literally never had that problem in any of my devices
>my computer is broken and it's their fault, not mine
Same problem Disc usage and high CPU
It's reeaaaaallly bad. Sluggish AF.getting annoyed. Had a laptop with windows seven but when I sent if in for repairs they refused to give it back so I had to buy a new one with the new windows fuuuuuck
>110 million PCs can't be wrong
they chose their wording carefully. theyre fucking shameless.
im gonna link a website thats completely independent from Microsoft. inside it you can download a "program" that changes settings in your PC so its not "upgraded" to win10 automatically
if you dont trust me, which you shouldnt, just google the site, google the website's creator, etc. that software can save your computer.
fuck microshit
I love it tbh
Not a me problem. I've literally checked it all. From drivers to bad programs to hardware. Apparently this a giant problem in the community and there still isn't a fix. It's a problem with older computers and computers that have really high end hardware and run an HDD it doesn't really happen to those with SSD. It's been suspected that it may be an AHCI issue when they optimized windows 10 for SSD and it fucked up everything for memory and sends ng your computer to do some stupid shit
Your opinion is irrelevant if you can't fix your own laptop. Especially concerning an operating system.
W10 is very cool for common use, i upgraded like 6 months ago and still no problems
Who still uses HDD (unless it is backup)?
2017 and no ssd, sounds like a you problem
ok thx.
i use 2 hdd, i hate this ssd shit, pay twice the price for less memory, fuck me instead
yes, but there is no acceptable alternative so we are stuck with whatever we get
and still no problem with W10
people who dont waste money on shit they dont need
are you gonna argue and say that you need ssds to make windows work? please do
There's no point to having one, that's what having an obnoxious amount of RAM is for
>Inb4 hurrdurr .2 sec boot times
It is worth the money. Once you have it you can't go back. I have a 2T HDD sitting in my case too, but I have not even plugged her into the MOBO
>poorfags
fixed. SSD made windows noticeably more responsive and faster versus my HDD
damn nigger. how can you be so fanboyish and absent minded?
2017 and not being the top 1%, sounds like a you problem
i have an ssd, not everybody needs one
jesus fucking christ
even i dont need it. i got it because im a little bitch that enjoys a fast computer. not everybody is willing to waste their money like i did.
16gb is a meme
I call it invest, not waste. Time=money
Linux fag here. Don't feel like I'm being spied on every time I go on porn.
Fucking Pleb get on my 24gb level
call it whatever you want. not everybody needs one. poor or not.
even if they were poor, thats not an argument. youre just throwing personal attacks like an emotional being, not a logical one.
Is there a good Linux build that supports gaming on steam and origin?
Trump is gonna ban linux for Desktop use.
>Time=money
...and here you are spending your time with us.
Oops! I mean "investing".
the only acceptable HDD to install OS on in 2017 are hybrid drives
It's a you problem.
Ubuntu MATE just works.
same here
who cares what YOU think is acceptable?
a big % of the world still relies on hdd. for microsoft to mess up there is a big fuck up.
>living in america
How much different is Ubuntu from Debian?
not really possibly just a shit HDD but it doesn't justify 100% disk usage
>it works for me personally, so it can't be a problem with the software
I realize everyone on this board is underage b&, but holy fuck, you guys are technologically illiterate.
Sure is a you problem
The software is the control, not the variable.
yeah, tell me about it. sometimes i forget.
a big % of the world still uses windows XP and CRT monitors too. Quick google search reveals plenty of confirmed fixes for people stuck on 100% disk usage
Ubuntu is dervived from Debian. Think of Ubuntu having more useful features that you would expect to have by default when installing an operating system.
Debian is basic and doesn't really include any friendly graphical software manager and is not great for beginners. Unlike Ubuntu, Debian doesn't make it easy to install proprietary drivers (Nvidia, AMD and some wireless networking cards).
Checked,
Second you illiterate fags I said disk usage not CPU
>a big % of the world still relies on hdd. for microsoft to mess up there is a big fuck up.
Especially for businesses. Many of them big and small want to avoid any OS changes to avoid these problems. I know even some that still run XP, but they're on a intranet, so it's understandable.
No. THE only correct answer. Linux is too diverse and developers are still hesitant to add linux support to their games. Steam works just fine on Linux, but not a lot of games do. Especially not the most recent releases.
Windows XP is a different beast and only Haas a fraction of the background processes this w10 garbage does
Dumb fuck you can see the disk usage on the left
Apparently you are the illiterate one since you can't read the task manager all the way. If you read further down the list you see the discs...
Anecdotal evidence isn't evidence.
>My computer has 100% disk usage so it means W10 has shitty optimization!
Go to processes. Sort by disk usage. Post results.
I honestly haven't had any of the problems other people seem to bitch about. I dunno. I like Win10 personally.
real nice never even got dubs when it was important and now got fucking trips
>Quick google search reveals plenty of confirmed fixes for people stuck on 100% disk usage
oh, so there ARE fixes? the other guy was saying there are no fixes to his specific problem. hopefully not true.
anyway, my whole point was that win 10 obviously needs to work with win10
agree windows 10 is chock full of garbage, shit OS but there isn't much choice
You're the faggot who still Ctrl-Alt-Deletes his way into task manager, huh?
>anyway, my whole point was that win 10 obviously needs to work with win10
fucekd that up
>implying getting 6tb worth of SSD storage is practical
If you use multi monitors, high resolution monitors or worse both, it's a nightmare. I have a 2k and 4k monitor setup and the system can't remain stable for over 24 hours. I've tried tons of things too like re-installing the operating system and changing hardware. Everything including the hardware is up to date and should be able to do it. It's a programming issue.
I remember reading that Debian is the rock in which Ubuntu is derived. I know Ubuntu has a huge community support, I was wondering which I could just port from a thumb drive at work just to play minecraft or some basic games that don't need any need for a graphics card. The motive is to avoid working at work.
100gb sdd
6tb hdd
practical
bare
I have to wait for a spike which happens every 30sec to 4 min I've cut my processes down to in like something is trying to initialize but just gets "stuck"
>implying that everyone saves 6tb of garbage onto their computer
Use win10privacy it does miracles
>I couldn't get it to work but it's not my fault.
Multi-monitor setups, regardless of resolution, aren't tied to anything more than their respective drivers.
I've shut down BITS, Window search, Superfetch, Location Search, and a handful of other shit but I can't seem to get my "services" stuff to stabilize
Meh, it's worked alright for me. There was a problem or two early on (I think I had forgotten to install a driver somewhere), but it's been perfectly fine since then. That said, I wouldn't pay money for it, either.
You're installing something.
Installing something writes to a disk.
That requires disk usage.
Those are the causes of the spikes.
Are you retarded.
I quit using Windows 10 because of the automatic updates.
I can leave it asleep but its on more checking for updates than it is being used. But if I turn it off all it wants to worry about is updates when I want to do something else.
Also it somehow figured out my last name and uses it for all that MSN account bullshit, it eventually made my gamer tag my last name and I have to pay them if I want to change it from something I never wanted it to be.
I've built my own desktops and never had and continue not to have an issue with them. It's the prebuilt garbage that usually has all these issues for no really good reason. It's not fluffware because that is the first thing I go to. Next Processes, then drivers, then hardware. I can't find the fuck up.
You can change it once free on Xbox.com.
have you tried everything listed here
reddit.com
Nigger I know I'm installing shit. I understand that concept. I'm not a complete fucking idiot. YOu wanted to see processes there you go. The disk usage spikes to 99.9% in the "services" tab bullshit when I have them if the issue was installing software I'd know.
OP, download process explorer from the technet website.
The services tab doesn't have anything regarding usage.
Run resmon.exe
Find the issue
Fix the issue.
Or, better yet, just pirate a copy of Windows 7 if you believe W10 is the cause of your issue.
Or Linux!
Yep, I'm considering rolling back to 7 and saying fuck this
Yep. In addition to the CONSTANT updates, my friend's hp wouldn't work at all if charging, and my acer sometimes gets so laggy i can't play portal.
he might be
>acer
you deserve what you bought
Ta-da
if you have a pc from windows 7 age you should not go to 10
windows 8 you can get away with
no problems here
Task Manager> Services> Find DiagTrack > right click and STOP
see if that works
Why would I buy or upgrade a pc to microsofts malware
Popped it off. Honestly this is the part that kind of sucks is it's a waiting game to see when it takes a nose dive for the extended period of time and then trying to find what's going wrong
It's not /great/, but it's not /bad/. Boots up in 15 seconds.
It's fast as fuck on an ssd.
I have an ok-tier laptop I bought for college that came with windows ten.
Put everything on a terabyte ssd and popped a terabyte hdd into the optical bay cause its 2017 who uses cds/dvds, and added 16 gb of ram.
I had to disable some shit so it wasn't cancer and so it didn't limit my frames in csgo but it works.
I get 100-150 frames on every map.
I ofc have a linux partition for coding and that's speedy as fuck on an ssd.
Try deleting all that midget porn fam
I fucked up that picture. High ram usage is prolly chrome, it usually sits at 2 gigs
too drunk later nerds
Hated it so far. Updates have fixed some of the issues since I got it year ago, but currently dealing with two major issues.
>install something
>random update later W10 uninstalls it for me
and
>shut down
>booting it makes it stuck on login screen until another restart
Also the amount of time I've had to go into the regedit to fix unwanted shit has gotten out of hand. Basic normie users probably don't care about or even notice some of the issues, but as power user (editing, drawing, recording) it sometimes drives me nuts.
Yes. And yes, linux is better. I switched to it a year ago and never looked back.
I think we're abandoning bread
Incorrect but even if it were true it would still be a programming issue. The operating system is tied to EVERYTHING running under the kernel including the drivers.
also don't have this issue
Cortana is the new evil.....try getting that piece of shit off of your computer
How big are each of those drives?
it's a mixture of drives at the moment, will eventually buy a few 4TB drives.
>I sent it on for repairs
FICKONG NORMIES get off my board
