If you played G1 and G2 as they came out I doubt you'd feel Gothic 3 is better. Maybe I am wrong but the dramatic shift in gameplay mechanics and artwork was not taken kindly by many fans. People who were introduced by Gothic 3 seemed to generally agree the game was lackluster overall and even though it's a continuation of lore, the real story ends with Gothic 2 for me. I feel those two games are far better than the elder scrolls and their artwork remains relevant and beautiful to this day. The unique controls and open world gameplay laden with details, unforgettable characters and excellent variance in the main story stays with me forever. I'm very happy some other people have loved this series

Was debating playing Gothic 1, but apparently the whole prison area is basically Gothic 1?

Is it worth going back? I mean I know what happens to the sleeper. And I know the controls for 1 are even more wonky than 2.

Don't know about "Arisen", but 'Risen' was kinda boring on the combat. Get Shield, Hold Block, Win.

Gothic 1 seriously had me hooked. Great game. Got only halfway through 2, though.

Gothic 2 was the best Gothic. Gothix 3 is, thanks to tbe bugfixings of the community also pretty good, atleast better then the first one, which isnt bad, either. Never played the 4th. To all germanbros: Steck die scheiß Waffe weg!

I'm hoping Elex will be good, but I'm afraid it will be casualized like Risen. Basically Elex is Gothic + Post apocalyptic alien tech. I'm guessing science will be the magic, indistinguishable, because of a loss of knowledge.

nah they are still working on gothic 3 idk the exact website to them but i believe if you google a bit you should find them pretty quick they also have always christmas specials where they release from dec 1-24 everyday a new update
