How do we fix the housing crisis? (in your cunt)
How do we fix the housing crisis? (in your cunt)
Huge government projects everywhere so that everyone can live in their own little brutalist cube.
Murder half the population
Ban Chinese investment
Get rid of minimum parking, zoning, minimum lot size, and all spacing requirements/ anything that doesn't have to with safety.
What is your crisis, not enough houses?
There's lots of housing if you can afford it. People should get better jobs.
>tfw bought a townhouse in Toronto 6 years ago
>tfw its value has gone up 80% thanks to chink money
there's nothing to fix :^)
we burst the bubble eh
Sack the department responsible for building permits and building code
Lucky bastard
>land cheap as fuck
>houses cheap as fuck
Since the people are immigrating because lol corruption, it's pretty cheap to buy a home here. Especially in the mountains, where there are villages with 10-20 old people and houses for 10k euros with land and shit.
let old people lose out on savings and investments without compensation for bad decisions/financial mismanagement (also fixes the economy)
>10k euro
Still too pricey for me
I wouldn't mind living in Bulgaria, tbqh.
this
a cheap comfy house near the black sea sounds pretty appealing
Well, adjusted for inflation, the average house price in the 70s was about 80,000£, it's now approaching 300,000£. You could rent a small apartment for £9 a month in the early 80s in certain parts of the UK, now it's hundreds of pounds including expensive deposits.
Margaret Thatcher in the 80s realised that as people grow older they want a bit of stability in their lives and don't want to worry about costs of living. She realised that people want to settle down if they are happily married and happily located. So she begun selling council houses (social housing) to the people and stopped building new houses. By the early 2000s house prices were rocketing year on year and have continued to do so except a minor dip during the recession. People began to see houses as an investment and began to expect the high costs to be justified by the fact that it's a given that you make money from your house, so it's worth it in the long run. This pleased the boomers who already owned houses and also the people who sacrificed a lot to get on the housing ladder. The idea of the landed elite class never fully died here, council houses and social housing have always had negative connotations, so this further bolstered the appeal. These people vote. They voted to increase their investments and they would be very unhappy if the value of their properties as investments were to fall. So we end up in the dire straits we are in today, with comically inflated house prices which indirectly attract foreign investment and encourage people to buy houses and then rent them out at low rates where they still make significant returns on the value of the house increasing year on year.
George Osborne, pre-Brexit Chancellor of Exchequer, introduced the Right-To-Buy scheme which helped new buyers with loans, which kept the home owners happy as it didn't affect house prices.
Without sounding like a whiny millenial, the younger generation is absolutely shafted in this regard.
The market is retarded but luckily I took advantage of it too.
Bought a small one-bedroom condo, 5 minute walk from the subway. My brother lived in it for 4 years and I went in 50% as an investment. Sold it after 4 years for 85k more. Put that down on my own condo in a very good area and I'm moving in in May.
I'm really the only person in my circles I know that actually afforded a place on their own.
Anything near a subway station is bound to go up like crazy in price
Give birth control to minorities/poor people
That's a terrible idea
Tell me your opinion
With no parking, no one would be able to go to stores/restaurants, and no one with a job could live there. It would make any place that did that unlivable.
Looks normal.
>what is NYC
kill poor people
who BUY TO LET LANDLORD here
Obviously I need to do own research on this, but what am I looking at if I want to buy a decent condo in one of the less desirable parts of downtown Toronto? I know there aren't any real ghettos down there, but there are certainly a few places east of Yonge that have less than stellar reputations and I would have no problem living there.
NYC is an overcrowded shithole that put the trash on the sidewalk like uncivilized savages.
NYC is not typical of America and shouldn't be replicated
Developers won't build something if they think it won't sell.
Also there is such a thing as developing infrastructure that doesn't use cars as the mode of transport.
housing here is cheap as fuck except for some large cities but people who live in cities are not really people per se
t. fuerdai
I don't know east of Yonge too well, I'm a west guy. The one me and my brother sold was one of the last subways stops on the west end and it sold for 325,000.
Chances are nothing is going to be less than 300,000 in a decent area far from downtown, or a crummy area close to downtown.
Public transportation sucks. It's always filled with poor people, Asians coughing without covering their mouth and the seats are way too small for anyone taller than 5'11
In America it does, in other countries people guard them to make sure homeless people don't get on and it's well cleaned since they have funding.
t. Schlomo
That's socialism, this is AMERICA
love it or leave it
Won't ever be done, the government refuses to build new houses so house prices skyrocket, artificially boosting gdp figures and making it look like the economy is doing well
what housing crisis
A car is nice to have if you live outside of Manhattan like in Queens or Staten Island.
No need to be so radical.
You just need your whole population to loose half of it's weight
Would live in.
There are a lot of buildings mean that there are a lot of shops.
Where are the shops there are cafes, bars, karaoke and other places to go for intertainment.
...
13% is enough
Either build more social housing or allow private companies to build more houses
It's simple really and boils down to building more houses
build more land in the sea
That's good.
Your immigrants need more land to live on.
>Make a law to compel the owners of unoccupied houses to rent them at market price or to pay 20% of the house's value in taxes each year, and get a 5 year jail time on the third year.
No more house crisis.
>Make a law to compel the owners of unoccupied offices to convert them into apartments and houses, then rent them at market price or pay 20% of the house's value in taxes each year, and get a 5 year jail time on the third year.
We're set for the next decade.
...
build what you built in Hong Kong.
Looks comfy.
Do people in China tend to know their neighboors?
Does France have a lot of foreign investors too?
Literally just stop fucking building huge commieblocks in istanbul.
Jesus christ just let us die already its like the entire city is a dying puppy.Every other city gets a reasonable amount of cozy apartments whilst istanbul gets fucking spammed with shitty commieblocks left right and center
How's does that look comfy? It makes me feel claustrophobic
I think, that's unacceptable by european and american building norms, even in russia these buildings would be considered fire hazard regulations with low amount of insolatied surface.
>tfw 250 a month
Kill me please
...
Kill off all the chinks
Build more fucking houses
Why do we let foreigners invest in property in the first place
Citizenship should be a prerequisite
in canada you ether
>buy expensive house in city
>buy somewhat expensive house in suburbs and drive an hour to work
>live in small town with no jobs
government needs to allow for more resource development so people have a reason to live outside the 7 cities
We are so poor for housing crisis. We found who can shooting our corruption.
Financial times did a really good paper on it
Can't find it now
But there are many ways to attack it
The UK has many old buildings that are in disrepair if the government would support landlords to repair there property it would greatly help
Building in Scotland
And lastly not giving housing to migrants
Those who are vulnerable should be housed in hostels with structure to insure they don't turn to crime and can find a good social atmosphere and support for work/education
Lastly stop foreign buyers
Though this will have a hard time as the torries support the tradition of Russians buying up property in hyde park making close ties with Russian politicians and giving us a political edge over other NATO countries
dis
Work on your English senpai
>we are so poor for housing crisis
We are poor(suffering) from the housing crisis
Unsure what you mean by the next part m8
>Work on your English
i m so lazy.
This only works if you basically replace old houses in the cities with huge flats, so commute times don't increase.
We did that and it kind of went wrong.
>live further away
>wake up a bit early
Problem solved
Me too
Don't be an arsehole, it's obviously not his first language, you can't expect everyone who posts here to be fluent
Cunt
Are you slow?
I'm trying to help him people always want help when learning a language stop trying to be overly nice this isn't a fucking safe space you mupit none is impressed

Shan't
Drastically reduce the cost of building houses in order to just meet our stock replacement ratio annually to start
In cities, houses and buildings are pretty cheap to build compared to the cost of the land they sit on.
We don't have housing crisis since everybody left for western Europe
Not in Dublin, it is the core of our housing crisis
There only place that has a real housing crisis atm (although several more will be coming within the next 10-20 years) is the Bay Area, and that's because the entire metro area save for a few pockets is zoned for single family housing. Change half of that to even multi-family and you'll no longer have people commuting from the other side of the mountains.
>tell someone else to work on his English
>use "there" as a possessive
Hmmmmm
Oh fuck me if every cunt here doesn't have an opinion on it.
We've had a situation where housing price inflation in the major cities has massively and consistently outstripped price inflation in the rest of the economy since the mid 1990s. There's a bunch of factors that have caused this- high levels of immigration, long periods of growing affluence, urban planning and social tastes making the inner suburbs more attractive than the outer suburbs, new housing supply maybe not meeting demand.
Everyone knows that it's a bubble and everyone's terrified it will burst. A lot of talking heads think they have solutions for letting it down a bit and the developers in the outer suburbs employ economists to tell the media how much better it would be if they could get their hands on more government land faster.
Personally I don't think it that easy to avoid the bubble bursting but we can take steps to make it less painful when it does, by regulating banking and borrowing so that we get less shittiness over bad mortgage debt like the USA c. 2008
Kill the BOOMers
What's the housing crisis? too much houses?
There's nothing in my country, I think 5% of it is city.
I assume most western countries have the same issue we have here.
Houses or apartments in cities are too expensive for young people to own. The prices are driven up by wealthy foreigners (most often China and Dubai) which make the prices increase even more. So there are people here that can't find somewhere affordable to live meanwhile there are many empty houses and apartments. They are forced to move further away from the city or live with their parents.
This
I think the housing situation is alright here for a western nation. Since this country is not centralized at all and has great infrastructure, you don't get any huge discrepancies in housing prices throughout the country. Of course there are differences between the Randstad and for example the north east of the country, but this goes along with the wages and economic opportunities in both areas.
However one thing that has been going on is that it has become very hard for starters to buy or rent their first house, especially on a single income. In the cities these problems are the most visible because there is a huge waiting list for social housing. Amsterdam for example has put basically every (sand)nig in social housing and they don't have any incentive to leave their social housing and buy something, even though their incomes might be high enough to do so. This creates the problem that the low-cost housing market in Amsterdam is somewhat on lock. Real estate developers and property owners rather build/develop something for higher incomes and this creates a vicious circle that leaves single income starters with no place to rent or buy in Amsterdam. Expats are also bumping up the rent prices in Amsterdam too because property owners can ask like 1.5/2x the normal price for it on the expat housing market.
If the government and municipalities create more incentive and opportunity for people in social housing to buy their first house, this would create more "room" in the lost-cost housing market and would create a housing market that's more healthy, active and goes along with upward economic mobility.
The maximum income for social housing is already really low m9, the sandnigs actually have a low income.
They're already being steadily pushed outside of De Ring, into the Bijlmer and Almere, and social housing inside of De Ring is steadily being sold off.
Yes but you can't just easily kick them out once their income has outgrown the maximum income requirement. The only way they can """force""" them out is by letting them pay a higher rent, hoping they will move out and rent/buy something else. Since there are still half a million "scheefwoners" in this cunt then I think it's time for more drastic measures.
Also what Amsterdam is doing with just selling off social housing is kind of silly, this doesn't help if you don't offer an alternative in the form of low-cost housing for people to buy.
you mad boyo
>implying
The US doesn't have a housing like the "leaner" countries.
Yeah no. I don't want to live in some packed thin walled commie block.
I like my single family home with a yard and dog
Only to build fucking maximum of 6 stories apartments
live in the suburbs then
