You missed a little piece of whiteness on the left side though. Sometimes getting up the tolerance on your wand tool helps, but too much and it'll take parts of the edge of your hat. So for that small parts try some good old eraser or even better add a layer mask in paint the parts you dont like black. That way you can undo it if you take off too much.
Okay, I'll try. I also deleted the trial version and tried finding a cravked one. The 2 I tried both turned out to be viruses.

There's an easier way: After you've selected the hat, go to Select -> Modify -> Contract. 1 or 2 pixels should be enough. Then do inverse selection (ctrl+shift+i) and use eraser to clean it up.

I would highly advice you not to. This only works when there is an even border or whiteness around the hat, not as in this case some clusters at certain parts.
You'd need to get rid of about 12 pixels and the hat would look hideous.
