Nice try, but this is the board that loves Alien, Terminator, Princess Bride, and Studio Ghibli films (which often features female protaganists), GitS, Paprika, Angel's Egg, Metropolis, Neon Demon, and generally likes the new Mad Max, as well as Black Swan, Labyrinth, The Force Awakens, etc.
Sup Forums has no particular hatred for films with women. We do, however, have a particular hatred for getting agendas shoved down our throats, and we also generally dislike shitty, unfunny comedies.

Hardly, take a look at something like Gods of Egypt for example, also $140 million production budget (but not near the same promotion budget, since the studio obviously realized they had a dud), made $31 million domestic and $114 million overseas, of which the studio gets at best 55% and 33% respectively.
That said, the best thing Ghostbusters can hope for is breaking even at the box office, but that's not very likely, in fact it's downright unlikely given the poor worth of mouth which is what this needed to fend off the new releases next weekend.
So, it's not near anything like 'blunder of the century', but it's a poor performer which isn't going to net Sony a single dime, and likely cost them quite a bit instead unless the post box office life of this title is spectacular, bluray, VOD etc, which I somehow doubt.

The expectation of success at the box office has long been three times production budget. That means for every million dollars spent on a movie, it should gross three million. Given that the movie cost $145 million to produce, you'd need to rake in over $450 million at the box office to be considered a proper success. Now, you might say "it's just the first weekend" - but the first weekend is the only real weekend a movie has. If it founders there, it never recovers. The second week dropoff is always between 25 and 50%. So, if it made $46 million in the US opening weekend, it'll be lucky to make $34 million next weekend - probably more like $25 million (daily figures will add to it bit by bit, but not enough to make up the difference). It'll be lucky if it ties Independence Day: Resurgence (which had a very similar pattern in its opening - debuting at #2 against an already-released animated film, failing to achieve even $50m) in domestic figures - and it still hasn't passed the $100 million mark).
Now, for a lot of movies, the saving grace of a weak US box office (or the cherry on top of a good one) has been the Chinese box office. But the Chinese authority in charge of letting movies in declined to give Ghostbusters a release. So, that's that. No Plan B. All of the other markets are smaller. Stick a fork in it, it's done.
