Eusebio was never the best, since Pele was playing during the same era.
Ronaldo is not the best, since Messi is playing in the same era.
For some reason poortuguese players always get cucked out of the title of 'world's best player' by South Americans. Quite historically ironic if you think about it....
William Campbell
Who the fuck grew up watching Giroud?
Tyler Young
more like Bale v Neymar, either way its underwhelming, but atleast lel liga will finally become a competitive league again once tsunaldo and messi are gone

Rugby's already had its big changing of the guard in the past couple of years. There are only a handful of players from the 2003 WC still around, and not that many from 2007 and the Lions tour to SA

Reminder that in less than 20 years they will be remembered like this:
>Messi weak league babby who played great in a great team >Ronaldo weak league babby but at least proven in 2 leagues.also his media team and the fact that he was a superstar at the 2 most bandwagoned teams will keep him relevant. plus the fact that most today recognize messi as the better player will make the next gen consider him simply out of spite >Iniesta forgotten by everyone outside spain and only mentioned as the fedora choice a la laudrup/garrincha >Torres just another striker, forgotten faster than Shevchenko or Villa >Ibrahimovic retards will keep him alive as the #cool manly man swag man like Cantona/Bo Jackson >Lahm forgotten faster than Xavi >Robben remembered as a guy who couldve been goat but injuries cucked him >Ribery remembered for being hideous >Buffon remembered as the proto-donnarumma >Giroud forgotten the moment he retires >Rooney adidas will push him as the goat english player so pretty well known in anglosphere >Modric forgotten utility man, will only be mentioned when he dies >Neuer forgotten like all defensive players

Milan/juve has solid young players, but the money is elsewhere, and they will get the fuck as soon as one of the big clubs comes around. And you still have the dumbass premier league clubs buying all the fucking memes for billions

Who do you think will be players that are considered to be preforming on a goat level in their 35+ years. Like Zidane is.
The only one i can truly think off on top of my head is Pirlo?
Julian Phillips
>Pirlo He's stopped playing on goat level long ago
Zachary Hernandez
>Pirlo >performing as goat at 35+
he wasn't performing on a goat level even in his prime. He needed a babysitter around him to be able to play at all. Marchisio is much better than him, more complete. the only italian goat players in the last 25+ years were baggio totti and buffon
Owen Thomas

correct. Defenders by definition can't ossibly be goats. It's football, the most important thing is how well you can use your feet on the ball. And those with the best quality in that end up as forwards or midfielders. He could be a goat defender, but being a defender means that his ball footling skills aren't as good as attacking or midfielder goats.
Grayson Reed
>an italian not ranking defense wew

Why you included Buffon, then?

Once Messi is out of form (since Ronaldo already is), which is in like 4 years max, Dybala, Neymar, Hazard, etc. will be fighting for Ballon
Adam Martinez

I rank defense, but objectively defenders don't have as good ball control skill as midfielders and forwards. If they had they'd play in midfield. Some defenders have better skill than most but not as good as the best forward players. well it's a completely different role with a completely different set of skills.

I'm not sure I completely agree, I feel like you are downplaying defensive skills. Sure, foot-on-the-ball skills are the most important but aren't tackles these type of skills as well? How about marking or aerial defending skills? defensive positioning? These are all very important in the game and I'm sure a player who can dribble past a number of players and score is as necessary as one that can actually take the ball off him.
Chosen GOATS (ballon d'or) are almost never defenders because of the voting systems but I think that from a manager's point of view, a defender GOAT is more probable than what you are saying.
you should start a thread about this, btw
Brayden Scott
I agree that those are important sskills in a football player, but I think that the game being football the foot-ball skills are the most important of all. And as for what you say, a great forward or attacking midfielders can win a game by himself even if the rest of the team is shit. A defender, no matter how good on 1vs1 can't defend by himself. And it's not just defenders a good defense needs good midfielders to protect the defense as well. tactical organization is more important, or at least as important, as individual skill for defense. If you have limited amount of money you're better served buying a great forward than an equally good defender.
