Why is there no good place on the internet to discuss underground and avant-garde music free of interference from Top 40 trash and entry level Pitchfork-core and stupid memes and shitposts?

because no one cares really.
what would you like to discuss?
maybe try going out and meeting people, user
because milennials think they're being really deep and cool
they think liking beyonce but also listening to swans and throbbing gristle and xenakis and rymcore and obscure shoegaze makes them some sort of cultural bridge between the different worlds of music, but they're just attention seekers that use music like a fashion accesory
and for whatever reason that mentality is becoming really popular so of course the media is going to cater to that if they want to stay in business
a lot of indie is being phased out, its getting to where the radio is a little better. unfortunately you need to dig or be well connected to find music that is good
fuckkkkk. neil is looking old
there really isn't anywhere better than Sup Forums to discuss music on the internet. you can find obscure subreddits with way better posts but they'll be extremely slow and empty
like said, you'll have to go out to shows or record stores or something. which of course depends on where you live
or you'll just have to settle for us
this looks very interesting. How did you come across this record user?
>there really isn't anywhere better than Sup Forums to discuss music on the internet.
Sad. The quality of discussion on here has taken a nose dize to the point where the shitposting and memes are too pervasive to properly converse about music no matter how hard you try to filter them out. Either that or it gets ignored and buried in dozens of off topic threads.
I saw a review of a compilation on the same label in an issue of the Wire and decided to check out their other more recent releases.
you'd probably be better off just reading books and stuff like The Wire and thinking about things yourself.
i've occasionally come across random message boards while googling stuff about, like, The Shadow Ring and other more 'underground' music, that seem to be reasonably well populated, but i can't think of any off the top of my head and they never had much interesting discussion.
I should return to reading The Wire. Got the subscription but too much work lately.
The record sounds really nice from the snippets. Sort of like Ian William Craig but with a much more interesting ensemble of sounds amongst an ambient backdrop. The piano suits it especially well.
Do you have a RYM by any chance?
yeah, unfortunately every board has gotten much worse in the past few years. the ones i go to at least. all the obsessed, genuine, autistic anons have moved to discord
Sup Forums became well known and Sup Forums got massive. the /r/thedonald meme is actually very true. tons of redditors migrated to Sup Forums and then started spilling out to the other boards
all is lost. only /r9k/ and /x/ remain the same and that's because they're too schizophrenic and autistic to be absorbed by normies
I don't have an RYM actually. Would you recommend getting one?
I use it too keep track of new releases from artists I have heard and for having some sort of control over my backlog. I dunno, I like it. You can also go through interesting lists and label catalogs.
Here is one of my favorite lists for example. Pretty vast range of recordings that fit a specific description. Always nice to dive into stuff like this.

>/x/
/x/ is just moronic creepypastas 100% of the time instead of genuine mystery or discussion of paranormal topics.
Also, what exactly is discord?
join my discord homie; I'm down to hear new kinds of music and we're pretty active
thanks
I still haven't got a Royal Trux album :/
they're hard to get into, especially twin infinitives. these are the songs i would rec someone, although you may have heard them already:

all unusually accessible and pleasant songs for royal trux
Hard to get into? I've been a fan since 1994
well sorry grandpa but what you said wasn't at all clear. it's even more confusing now
Its generic ambient
Thanks for the compilation, I'll have a listen later. I assume they're usual grunge kinda thing? Fuzz up me wuff muzz
agreed OP. findig a good discussion on Sup Forums is a chore
does anybody have a good avant garde rec chart to share?
Any good magazines or charts on world music?
Literally none
is this sarcasm user, i need that variety
Yeah, usual
Maybe you shouldn't go to one of the biggest public forums on the internet expecting people to only talk about obscure underground stuff.
>complain Sup Forums are pleb for talking about mainstream shit
>Sup Forums is no better than a Billboard charts board
Sup Forums is better at talking about mainstream shit tho
Sup Forums besides the grimesfags just care more about the score and "feels"
Not really what you are asking for, but the DJ of this radio show plays plenty of good world music, check out the archives : wfmu.org
