It's distinctively electronic era Ulver with synthpop, krautrock and some drone elements. Because Depeche Mode created synthpop there is no need to hate on every other band that incorporates the same genre, that's edgy at the least.

the comparison is about the voice, mainly. Also they are going for that "dark" synthpop sound. The Ulver album simply does not evoke a response in me where depeche mode does. So no, it isn't a 1:1 copy. Ulver are lacking.
