it was shit

Why do they keep getting farther away from cross?

I liked this album a lot but everyone seemed to hate it. I think Randy, Safe and Sound, Stop, and Pleasure are all great tracks.

They should have made only one album.
Their live is great though.

Anyone check out their coachella set?

Don't you fuckers get it?

The entire genre of electronica is commercial, all electronica is EDM, as it's objectively inferior/cheaper music. It's our degenerate plebeian Sup Forums that has tried to make us believe EDM is an "essential" genre and that if you don't like it you must be "narrow-minded", a "rockist" who listens exclusively to "twings and twangs" and there's probably some racial element to it too. EDM music has no staying power. All of EDM is just a neo-disco sub-genre of top-40 pop, with a "mechanical" paint job. This music doesn't stand the test of time, it's a fad. That's why EDM producers are discussed about like fashion. Image/fashion/numbers sold are actually considered when talking about them. EDM is just a really cheap/lazy form of music anyways. The majority of EDM beats are just stealing (MUHH "SAMPLING") another artist's music, looping it over a generic drumbeat while someone throws preset synths over it. The "technical aspects" of EDM are not hard at all. That's why there's 14 year old white girls on YouTube uploading themselves mixing with ease and speed, dropping polyrhythms like it's nothing. But because they don't fit the image of a "EDM fan", no one would take seriously. I've listened to it all from backpacker shit like Basic Channel and Deepchord to the "golden days" of Derrick May and Frankie Knuckles to revival stuff like Mall Grab and Delroy Edwards to the 90s with 4hero and Omi Trio to the CLT approved Mouse on Mars and Autechre to today like DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn. All electronica is EDM. All of it. Stop spamming it. Either keep it contained into one threads or request a containment board. I'm sick of coming on Sup Forums and seeing a million DJ Rashad threads (none of which are about music btw).

Wow, congratulations, you named all 4 of the ONLY GOOD TRACKS.

Same shit as AVD. 4 good songs and the rest are shit.

Meanwhile, Cross is over here being a perfect 10/10.

I'd add Alakazam and Chorus to that list t b h, the others are alright but nothing special. Heavy Metal feels like a missed opportunity, same with the last one with that weak ass snare and Fire just draaags

when will they stop pretending they are a funk rock band

>same with the last one with that weak ass snare and Fire just draaags

user they all fucking drag. I haven't seen such self absorbent long tracks since Human After All. Randy is only tolerable with a fucking radio edit. God, they all needed radio edits.

Nah Randy is cool as it actually goes places, way better than the radio edit. I'd argue that only Fire needs to be trimmed, or just replaced with a better track

I feel like AVD is so underrated, had a blast listening it while driving

AVD has 5 good songs with the rest ranging from mediocre to terrible.

Horsepower, Civilization, New Lands, Helix, and AVD are the only good ones, and even then, only 2 of those are truly "excellent".

It's not a bad album, but it's painfully mediocre when compared to its predecessor.

Phantom Pt. 1 is their best track

fight me

Genesis is better

How do you go from a 10/10 album like Cross to something so boring and uninteresting

Being a child is idolizing Phantom and Gensis
Growing up is realizing Newjack and Valentine are the best.

>Growing up is realizing Newjack and Valentine are the best

similar situation for me, i really enjoy newjack now, and stress is a hell of a track to me as well

Stop is realy nice gives me goosbumbs especially when he sings together surrunder

>they will never make a song as good as valentine again

nobody read this btw

Agreed, never really felt betrayed as a cross fan listening to it. Maybe because I always thought Justice was only okay and nothing special.

What does everyone think about their Coachella set? Pretty good, but some absolute essentials were missing, and they really, really cut short some of their best songs while having that excessively long outro.

Only one I felt was cut short was Phantom Pt. II, the outro coulda been more heavy I reckon but still a badass set

long time justice fan. loved the new record personally

because artists evolve and move forward

>because artists evolve and move forward

No. Discovery coming from Homework is evolution.

AVD from Cross and Woman from AVD is falling backwards drunk.

Do not confuse change with progress.

Reminder that DVNO is their best track.

DVNO may be good, DVNO radio edit may be great, but the Justice remix of DVNO is elder god tier.

youtube.com/watch?v=fPR0cqgJV_o

it's a fucking shame they don't do remixes anymore

I fucking hear that. I still play youtube.com/watch?v=enrrbWOAFR4 from time to time.

Why is valentine so fucking good?

On it's own, it's such a great beat, but it really shines when played in Cross order, due it being a brilliant palette cleanser after the party fever Newjack and rough electric Phantoms. It's the perfect song for going "Okay, you just went through some really hard beats, now chill out with this until they return"

ill agree that AVD was a step down in quality from cross but they were trying something different which resulted in some mixed results.

woman is a more experienced and mature album in terms of song writing and album crafting imo.

Woman feels even less thoughtfully crafted than AVD, what are you on about? The majority of Woman's songs go absolutely nowhere and overstay their welcome far past their expiration date. Not even considering their self indulgent lengths, several songs seem completely unfinished, such as Chorus and Heavy Metal--almost like they accidentally released demos.

It feels like they're trying to evolve but it's just stumbling. Absolute stumbling.

It's because SebastiAn stopped ghost producing their tracks

and it was pretty good

im gonna have to re-listen before i respond senpai

Source?

nice pasta

That's a pretty baseless claim. Do you have a single fact to back that up?

Guys, Justice was never good. Their first album was a bunch of electro fart sounds made on an iMac, and they haven't gone anywhere with it since.

...

okay well i guess i like how cohesive this album sounds. i disagree completely that the songs go absolutely nowhere, they have a lot of nice riffs/melodies/fills that to me sound more complex and confident that anything they've done before.

self indulgent lengths are up for debate, i agree some songs go on for a little too long but this is dance music, a genre known for long repetitious songs. personally i love chorus and how it groves, i also like how it keeps building. though the ending is a little anti-climatic imo.

liked heavy metal on first listen but these days i think its lacking. they came up with one good riff and didn't much of a satisfying hook for me to consider it memorable.

finally, i think close call is by far their best album closer. great album with a lot of replay value.

I think this is true also, I think justices first album was almost a full collaberative ed banger project.
Oizo was definitely involved

>but this is dance music, a genre known for long repetitious songs

That's the thing, though, Cross was a pioneer in Dance music having acceptably short but deadly beats. Not one song goes over 5 minutes.

lol, its more pop than dance.

>cross
>pop

Planisphère... Just listen to Planisphère.
youtube.com/watch?v=rZgfrDMQFas

Planisphere is my stockpiled Justice song. I've never listened to it, and I probably never will. I'm saving it for a terrible, terrible day, when Justice is dead and gone.

definitely best while driving

i always thought of justice as a rock band

In what fucking way

i thought cross had a level of aggression and masculinity to their music that set them apart from other dance artists. then AVD came out and its got this dadrock aesthetics that further drove the point home for me.

I guess that makes sense. In that vein, how do you feel about Woman, then?

i think its great. im actually this user:
