I pulled out his CDs out of dumpster 15 years ago. Last time I listened to them was 14 years ago. I'm I cool?

Is that lil yauchty but yellow??

AND SOME A DEM A WEAR IT TELL IT RESEMBLE DIRT

>Is that lil yauchty but yellow??
Yes. Lil Boat is to mumble rap what Yellowman is to dancehall

please tell me this is a good comparison senpai

I don't listen to mumble rap

Kind of surprised to see this posted on Sup Forums

I always doubletake whenever I see a reggae or funk thread.
It's like we share this board with some people who are actually cool.

Same. I love dancehall, Yellowman included. Reggae and Jamaican music in general are truly underappreciated on this board. Maybe a /reggae/ general could be started if there's enough support.

I really like tropical music and disco no one ever talk about it

Is fire

Sweet, I guess I'll get on it tomorrow and hope we can go from there.

I'll be on the lookout for it
Maybe make it tropical general? Because dub, dancehall, calypso, and whatever it is exuma does . Maybe salsa? I can contribute a lot of stuff.

Sounds great, also because it includes the genres you mentioned + things like mento and other forms. With any luck it'll last.

But they it's like we'll let ska and reggaeton be contributed, I play with ska, like almost anything that isn't 3rd wave American ska . Also stuff like Asian dub foundation and Dubwar which is on the fence stuff. Rocksteady also

I'm the same. I have a lot of knowledge about Jamaican music in particular, but my knowledge of reggaeton is lacking. We could definitely share a lot, and I in particular could share a bunch spanning the entire timeline of mento through the late dancehall/raggamuffin era. Also 1st wave ska = best ska.

Rocksteady's my favorite genre though.

We'll have to take into account Latin American music , a lot of reggae , ska, dancehall , dub and fusion stuff is good . Also take into consideration cumbia . Reggaeton is very touchy genre with a lot of people on this board . I remember when it went mainstream and everyone thought it was a phase and it never stopped .

True, true. Maybe some stylings like Latin jazz (a la Ray Barretto or Herb Alpert) could make their way in too.

>Cumbia
Please no. Shift the attention to Tejano and Brazilian dancehall.

Ray barretto is fire
We'll probably won't do post 2003 cumbia and keep the villera stuff out
Can't deny there isn't some stuff that's worth saving

Perhaps we could segment it into editions. I'm really enthusiastic about a dancehall thread, specifically because of stuff like this: youtube.com/watch?v=7bFVjS_Vh1Y

It'd be great to introduce Sup Forums to a larger and, for the most part, almost totally obscured international music scene.

I thought it was going to be tiger

So tropical general - and whatever genre edition

Tiger's got some pretty great stuff. He's usually pretty good at giving me an unintentional giggle. /tropgen/ sounds like it has some promise.

Tiger is featured on probably the best Brand New Heavies track ever.

Speaking of the Heavies where are all the /groove/ kids at?

Lady law - passion is the last dancehall album I listened to
My friend is more inclined in that field since he's from Belize and they are with reggae and dancehall

This is pretty great. Surprised I didn't know about this already. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting. I've heard that Belize is basically a continental extension of the Caribbean. If we were to do a roots or dub edition too, I could provide a whole bunch. Blackboard Jungle Dub is a gold mine of stuff.

I like disco and whatever cameo and the o jays are
And milli vanilli idgaf is it's lip synced

Going to bed now lads. Enjoyed our discussion. I'll see to it that /tropgen/ is made on the morrow. Hopefully it can take off. See y'all later, and keep grooving.

We'll need an essentials
