About 8 months or so. I have been doing the long distance thing since graduation. But I make her cds n shit for special occassions and always tell her about bands I think she might like. She acknowledges that some of the things I show her are good but to really dive into genres outside your comfort zone I believe you need to make that decision for yourself. I think she is just fine listening to the stuff she has always listened to and thats cool by me. But I wish she could understand why some of the things she likes just make me cringe on the inside.
