Probably the beech.
What part of the world are you from?
Number one
Germany. Why?
Never seen a beech that large
Ginko Balboa master race
In fact what you are seeing is the wolrds largest beech, as far as I know.
cool
Although I forgot where it stands.
But I think it was in some national-park.
I like the Italian Pines and Ginkgo.
...
Douglas fir or acacia, or that odd yellow Colorado - specific one which acts as a single entity
is that a conifer?
Can't top this tree!
A tree that eats trees is no tree of mine
The Ginkgo? No sir it's not.
a tree that can hold my weight when I hang myself..
lots of love for birch

Ahh fuck that's what that is. I see them all over the city but
Old tjikko
Looks like a Western Hemlock
Larch is unique in that it sheds it's needles in the winter.
bald cypress
architectural millwork, doors, and windows made from cypress are absolutely amazing
Where does it grow?
Northern Spruce. Or Picea abies in latin.
Mostly because it's what covers 95% of the forest where I live.
Makes great firewood, great building material, smells good and they look good. 10/10 tree.
Sounds very similar to black spruce. Or maybe they're the same tree.
in the us states along the gulf of mexico
there are log called "sinker cypress". they are trees that get so big, the mud they are anchored in can't hold them and the fall over. the mud preserves them. there are guys who salvage these logs and sell them for a premium. some are hundreds of years old, and the fell into the mud hundreds of years ago. :)
coolness
As far as I can tell it's pretty much the same tree yes. One of the few tree species that continue growing even in temperatures down to -50 degrees Celsius.
So why am I lurking this thread exactly?
lumberfag here.
there are also guys up north who salvage old sinker logs from the great lakes. lumber guys used to float them from wilderness to sawmills...some would sink. the icy cold waters of the great lakes preserved the logs. i've seen sinker hard maple, cherry, and walnut lumber go for near $100/board foot. it's some of the most beautiful hardwood you'll ever lay eyes on.
NHLA does not differentiate between spruce, doug fir, or hemlock. nor do they differentiate between pecan or hickory.
Good to know. Here in northern Sweden it's pretty much the only tree we got. Too cold for anything else really.
Underrated post
There's an industry for float wood in BC, too. I met a guy with a mad max looking boat who salvaged logs that fell off of barges and mills them himself.
Because trees are the coolest life form on earth
They also love fire and seed like a mother fuck.
You in new brunswick? Eastern white pine detected
Came here to say this.
Pussy Willow Tree.
this!
i still love this mess, it reminds me every time that nature is everywhere!
Very cool.
Though aren't you supposed to be either sleeping all night or working all day?
Love me some large oak.
Can someone tell me what the tree just right to my house is? Always figured it was just a spruce but in the last two years it has been developing these light brown/yellow seeds as you can see on the pic during the early summer. It was almost dead when I bought the house.
Onterrible. Looking at that pic it could be, though. Skinny as hell for a white pine.
I don't know what tree is it, but it is a very useful one.
Looks like a white spruce to me. Other than that I might just have never heard of it.
oh, i'm not a lumberjack.
i buy and sell hardwood lumber.
fun fact for the day: hardwoods are classified as such if they shed their leaves or not. the term hardwood has nothing to do with the density of the wood. :)
Yew tree
Hard maple is pretty hard.
it's a deciduous tree, making it a "hardwood" and yes, it's very hard. i have a cutting board made of hard maple.
I see. But it seems white spruce only grows in northern America, but then again my google skills suck. Meh it's a tree. Good enough.
Yeah, I've only ever done Canadian tree species.
Ah, Canada's nature and climate is pretty similar to ours here in northern Scandinavia. Probably some related tree species.
There are. Notably fur and spruce.
Does the tree have "cornflake like" bark?
Yes it does. When I bought the house the tree was completely barren. The bark was peeling off and everything. For some reason it started growing again before I chopped it down.
Whatever tree this was
Lucky tree.
I'll stand by it being white spruce, but it could be a nice neighbor like you said.
Deltree
Lebanese Cedar Master Race
Ah yes the illusive mountain tree. I heard they are spooked easily.
>oh, i'm not a lumberjack
That might be the most socially acceptable reason for the crossdressing, though....
More seriously, thanks for the fun information about trees and wood.
How much I should pay per cord for firewood if it's bristlecone pine?
how'd you know i crossdress and why would you want to burn pine?
this
maokai is sooo cool
thats an angry little guy
no its a happy little guy
its hard to tell with sneks
>en.wikipedia.org
meh
not as impressive as general sherman
>how'd you know i crossdress
Dude, you're posting on Sup Forums. Duh.
And not just pine - bristlecone pine. I hear it gives a subtle, unique flavor to grilled whale and rhino.
Maple tree! Nice and symmetrical most of the time, medium sized leaves, nice bark, not messy as hell. Just the perfect tree all around.
If you burn pine, plan on your chimney burning down. Pine is dirty as hell.
I am the Lord your God. Thou shalt have no other Trees before me.
