Why is he the best, most underrated and most tragic folk singer?
nice try but it's actually Tim Hardin
What about Nick Drake?
>death gives no reason, so why should i?
>death has no season, so i know ill never die
>no one knows me in the morning
>no one sees me go walking by
>and if I listen while no one answers
>the winds can only echo a goodbye
Underrated as shit.
The word underrated was made for Jackson C. Frank.
His live songs and demos are the best.
That raw emotion can't be replicated.
Clearly, you've never heard of Michael Hurley.
What about a Nick Drake cover of Jackson Frank in his style?
Oops, forgot the link
Oh god, this is like surround-sound sadness
Dialogue is literally suicide in music form
>His live songs and demos are the best
Huh guess ill check that out
if you feel like crying, read his wikipedia article while listening to blues run the game
The '90s recordings, when he's a sick old man, are so haunting and beautiful.
Fred Neil was another underrated songwriter. His life wasn't really tragic, but he did give up music to save the dolphins. Which is its own kind of weird tragedy...
Also, Karen Dalton. Although I feel like she's gained a lot of recognition lately.
What is the album name, is it on Spotify?
And could, for more modern examples, East River Pipe, or Elliot Smith be considered examples?

There was no album.

A lot of them were released posthumously and you can find them on Spotify on the Heartbreak Hotel album.
Blues Run the Game is a great song, but the rest of his micro-opus is not as solid. It just isn't tuneful or memorable.
that's where you're wrong, kiddo
This is my favorite.
Shit, I thought this could never be topped

That was fucking beautiful, user.
