yeah explosions in the sky are pretty good

sftb is the only consistent post rock album. post rock has become a blanket term to define a band without a clear genre name

Get your crescendo shit out of here.

This album deserves so much more praise and notice. Really interesting emo and glitch influence here.

This song features 2 people from Clouddead, and it actually works very well.

Is post-jazz a real thing? What does it sound like? What are some examples?

that was the joke

I love Hood. My favorite album of theirs is The Cycle of Days and Seasons.

A lot stuff from the Chicago scene fits this "post-jazz" label, including pic related.

Can we just talk about this album for a second? I know you guys might find it generic, but it's one of my favourite post-rock albums of all time.

are you saying post bop?

youtube.com/watch?v=YHVarQbNAwU

Fuck post rock is so good when it's good but when it's bad it's so fucking bland.

We need more weird, experimental post-rock
youtube.com/watch?v=I7QOGnn4jNc

godspeed is really weird guys :3
I kinda like it tho XD

What are you doing?

if you need recs:

Set Fire to Flames
Yndi Halda
Hiss Tracts
Rachel's
Slint
June of 44
Rodan
Seven Mile Journey
Do Make Say Think

is there post-buttrock

what about post-cockrock

and post-buttmetal

I rec Mouse Parade. There is an amazing vain of music here if you dig into similar artists.

Everyone needs to listen to Crippled Black Phoenix

Lets settle this. Which is better?

no I mean a genre that is to jazz what post-rock is to rock

I dig this. You might like Tableland by Steven R. Smith.

Reminder that you should check out Random Avenger by Magyar Posse.

It's like if old style prog met Post-rock.

That's actually really hard. Can't decide. They're both excellent in different ways, like Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock.

I really like when Slowcore meets Post-rock

Here are some examples

Any Port-Royal fans?

One of my favorites

Here ya go

You guys are posting albums that are too safe. Here's something more experimental.

I'll check it out a bit later.
Godspeed is one of my favorite bands, but it's not the crescendos that draws me to them, it's always been the atmosphere, the creativity and the experimentation. Plus very little music *feels* like that, that stripped down low income feeling that's oddly real.

Spirit of Eden > Laughingstock, but LaughingStock has more soul.

YESS! Strange Warmings is one of my personal favorite albums ever. It is my go-to album when I accidentally, and frequently drink to much while i'm alone. The rhythm destroys me on every song, It is like Jaki Liebezeit but maxed out.

who ghetto beats here?
If you like the Glitch influence, listen to Gastr Del Sol - Mirror Repair and Vonneumann - Switch Parmenide.

Love Ghetto Beats, but because I have listened to From Bone To Satellite so much I would have to say thats my favorite. Also Big Black Square is super underrated in their discog. One of the greatest post-rock groups without question.

Budd is the first "Slint-style" post-rock song

I used to think spiderland was childish but now I can see the lyrics and I find myself relating to it a lot.

underrated first wave release imo

I feel like you have to come in from a special kind of bad angle to see Spiderland as childish.

>laika
Don't make me do it....

I meant childish as in teenager.

The archive is down and I can't find my album list. What a shame.

youtu.be/P2_b7wO-R5A?t=2

Laika is underrated only because their listener base is so small. Most people who listen to Laika appear to rate them appropriately.

tfw knew low roar was going to sell out as soon as one of their songs was in a kojima game
new album sounds absolutely awful

Damn, I entered the thread to post this because I just got into Hood (always thought they were slowcore, didn't know they were weird-ass post-rock).
Listened to that album slightly baked late at night and it was amazingly comfy in a gloomy way, same feeling I got when I heard Bark Psychosis's Hex for the first time.

>mfw Mono are coming to my town but the show is 21+ no exceptions
Fuck "technically bar" venues

I may be biased since Hex is my 2nd favorite album of all time but I was never crazy about Dustsucker. None of the tracks have that magic nocturnal feeling that the Hex songs do, and while it's enjoyable to listen to, nothing really ever stands out for me.

I like this, thanks m8

>vocals

any love/recs for similar bands to this?
