Because guitar solos are literally exclusively for masturbatory self-indulgent faggots. Perfect for Zappa.

how is it different from any other form of improvisation?

Fucking plebs

He does more in 10 minutes than Zappa did in his entire career
>inb4 you talk shit without even listening to it

That's not even Frank Zappa's best guitar solo, ya pleb

love Mick Taylor

Go back to your Kendrick and Kanye and let the adults discuss real music.

>projecting this hard
Bill Bruford never recorded a single drum solo in all his time with Yes. You know why that is? Because he was fucking secure in his drum capabilities, he didn't have to flaunt it so that everybody could know how fucking GREAT HE WAS like Zappa, the insecure manchild he was, did.

>Not available in your country.
I'm in America
what the hell

This one is pretty crazy

-all better guitar solos

Zappa admitted to being a mediocre guitar player, a number of times in fact.

I still like his solos because they have a unique sound and a kind of sloppiness that sounds good imo. guitar solos like you hear from steve vai that are exact and precise take away from what's special about solos. they are supposed to have character, they are supposed to be indicative and unique to the person playing them. bill bru is find and dandy and all, I agree, but know your shit before you spout some try-hard shit that is missing documented info.

That's a pretty poor example considering YES had lots of guitar solos and Zappa didn't have any drum solos. So I don't know why you're comparing the two.

>Zappa didn't have any drum solos.
That so?

youtu.be/nTSBR7eHL_I

>Insecure
>Pierre Boulez conducted his pieces
Just stop, all right?

When did Yes have guitar solos? If you're thinking of the beginning of Close to the Edge, that's as much a guitar solo as YYZ is, and Mood for a Day doesn't count.

All right, 10 minute live guitar solos may have been over the top, but none of that was on his studio albums, except on those 3 Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar albums, which I didn't like at all.

>Because guitar solos are literally exclusively for masturbatory self-indulgent faggots. Perfect for Zappa.
Then I guess jazz would be a hard pill for you to swallow.

>this one completely different genre does it, that means that this other genre can do it

Are you trying to be retarded or does it just come naturally?

Why are you faggots listening to Zappa if you hate guitar playing and just want simple pop songs? He's just a weirder version of Grateful Dead where his studio albums suck and his live shows are incredible.

Please enlighten us all, why can't "rock" music have guitar solos?

>Ad hominem attack
Not even worth addressing.

His studio albums suck? Freak Out!, Hot Rats, We're Only In It For The Money, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, etc.?

Compared to his live performances they do. His improvisation is top notch and never plays the same version of a song twice.

Alright, then.
Composition has literally L I T E R A L L Y nothing to do with technical skill, which is what I was talking about in the first place. The fact that I need to explain this to you shows that I really wasn't off the mark.

>basic bitch pentatonic scale runs
>best guitar solo
Hahahahahahaha

Here's some god tier guitar work.

>Zappa didn't have any drum solos
You're saying this about the guy who made THE BLACK PAGE of all fucking people? Really?

RIP

So, if Zappa, which he acknowledged many times, wasn't the most technically proficient guitar player, he should've just played rhythm guitar? You know, not everyone is on Allan Holdsworth's level and they're still worth listening to. Not to mention that there are many worse offenders than Zappa.

>Compared to his live performances they do.
I can't say that his studio albums outright suck.
His improvisation is top notch and never plays the same version of a song twice.
And that's what I love about him. Yellow Shark is one his best live albums.

This is why I dont come to Sup Forums often

There has.

Zappa's favorite guitarist was allan holdsworth. He said so himself and not surprising. Possibly one of the best solos by big al.

Zappa's guitar was the worst part of any Zappa album/performance.
