2005 world series was way better.

That uncaught third strike was legendary.

no, because worthless cleveland was involved.

Best one I've seen in a long time.

Pure gameplay wise, 2001 was better.

Maybe not the best series, but DEFINITELY the best game 7. Argue me.

>one strike away. twice
2011 will never be topped.

2001 just had a bunch of ninth inning choking

ALL THOSE LEFTHANDERS AGAINST SHAW
LAST BATTER SWINGS ON FIRST PITCH WITH A MAN ON

did you not watch this game 7? Lol

If not this one, 1991

In the last 20 years, 2001>2011>1997>2016>the others

Agree.
The story line of this series is what made it compelling. 2 teams that have a combined almost 170 years without winning a world series.

Yeah this will go down in history as the GOAT.

Autistic retards on Sup Forums will argue otherwise but that ending in game 7 and the fact that it was the Cubs that won makes it the GOAT

honestly man no one here is over 25 meaning you probably can only remember 20% of televised world series at most. it was good but baseball has a long-ass history, and we won't know how this fairs until we remember it from years past

Boy you must be a riot at gatherings

no, because the favorites won

White Sox fan here. 2005 was not a better series.

Found the bandwagon Cub fan who started watching baseball this year.

28 here, guess you're wrong.

It was a great game, but i gotta say the ending was as anticlimactic as it gets. If it was a walk-off, then it would have been GOAT, but throwing Bryan Show to the heart of the cubs order it was incredibly obvious what would happen. This was one of those situations where you'd rather bat first after such a long rain delay.

Also there was just a lot of spaghetti from both teams all game. Maddon was so lucky to get away with this one.

How can this NOT be the GOAT? The fucking cubs just won the world series. Something I think no one ever thought would happen again.

>That uncaught third strike was legendary.
That happened in the ALCS and the White Sox still swept in 5

2002 is really underrated

there are rarely years where a team is just so much better than the rest of the field. this was one of the them. good for them but if you ignore made-up curses it was pretty unexciting

>TFW you got to watch 1991 live
>TFW you're a Minnesotan watching 1991 live
KIRBYYYYYYYYY PUCKEEEEET!
The best world series? Are you kidding me? It doesn't even crack top 10. Just because Game 7 was good doesn't mean it was a GOAT series.

>it was 3-1
>amazing game 7
>the fucking cubs won a world series, their first in 108 years

Nah it's a top ten for sure

>game 1 kluber destroys them
>game 2 they fight back 1-1 going into wrigley
>game 3 is a 1-0 nailbiter
>game 4 kipnis and his big dong
>game 5 first WS win at wrigley since the year we dropped the bomb on japan
>game 6 sort of boring, the indians only threaten to threaten
>game 7 fuckin dope and u know it

i still prefer 2001 for my team winning, but be serious

game 3 and and game 5 were also phenomenal.

it was definitely one of the better world series ever. not my personal fav but it's up there

That's usually how seven game series go.

Even 2001 had two huge blowouts

I don't know about a whole series but 1960 is still the GOAT Game 7 in a World Series.

>walk off home run

this this here

cards were never favorite to win
overcame a 9 game deficit in the wild card just to get in. Cards were originally the underdogs in all the matchups, cucks were favorites

Not sure if best world series, but one of the best finishes to a World Series.

Joe Carter's walkoff still gives me goosebumps.

No it just looks really good because last two years were so horrible

It had a number of extremely interesting characteristics which likely place it among the better series. I will even admit to not being an expert, and yes, even bandwagoning the Cusb, but the WS is one event in sports that I've consistently actually cared at least a little bit about.

-didn't involve the god-damned fucking Yankees. any WS with this characteristic is automatically better for it, unless one involves the Yankees losing in spectacular fashion (2001, kicking them while they are down post-9/11, thank based D-backs)

-involved two non-coastal teams, much to the ass-mad of coastal faggots everywhere (this is a good thing)

-involved long-suffering teams and markets, which means that it actually meant something, unlike, say, a Cardinals/Yankees series

-went all 7 games (only about a third of all series ever played have ever done so)

-the team without home field advantage won

-recovery from being down 3-1 by a team to win series (has only happened like five-six times in history now that I check)

-dramatic rain delay right at the very end, just as God planned it

-extremely historically unlikely outcome of Series shows that anything is possible, thereby anticipating an outright, un-controversial Trump presidential victory a few days later

-most games were won away. I'm going to comb the stats to look for other series where a majority of games played were won away.

-contained a grand slam

-contained blowouts, as well as frustratingly tight pitcher's duels

Statistically, culturally, and historically, this was a wholly remarkable series, and can objectively and easily be argued to be among the most remarkable series ever played. One doesn't need to be a johnny-come-lately Cusb bandwagoner to see that.

its shit because the bad guys won tbqh

the cubs not winning the world series for 108 years have nothing to do with the quality of games

>A FUCKING PYLON

That was the ALCS

I have to agree. It was epic to see them win, but they cruised to a sweep. The Stros had no chance at all in that series.

Any WS that goes seven is already top-tier. Then one with such a dramatic game 7 that's won by a team that hasn't won in 108 years?

I'm not even a Cubs fan, but GTFO.

Royals world series was better

This guy gets it

Fucking this, it was everything that I wanted out of a Cubs World Series (Game 7, tied at the bottom of the 9th, huge comeback by the cubs, and asses clenched to the final out)

Makes sense as Cubs fans. I see why you would love it. Listing 3 games out of 7 that were good doesn't do it for me. The quality of games matter more.

Indians also lost 2 of their top 3 starters and their best hitter. This wasn't close to a GOAT series, sorry.

>Soon North Korea will invade and there will be one flag for Korea

Feels good

I hope Kim Jong Un invades you for your shit opinions

I can't wait until the Supreme Leader liberates South Korea from the 8 Goddesses

INVASION MIND

BYE BYE STARCRAFT LAND

cant handle the truth?

Ive watched baseball for longer than the last couple of years unlike some Cubs fans in here.

This series was good, but in terms of 7 game series I don't think anything will ever top the '04 ALCS in terms of how improbable it was.

This series should be remember for having one of the best game 7's of all time though, no question. I still can't believe Cleveland blew it.

The only thing you'll be watching soon is your country getting rekt by a fat dude with a stupid haircut

>losing argument
>cry about bandwagoners
kys kim

I'm 34

YES

HOLY FUCK

CUBS WON! CUBS WON!

OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING

THE CUBS WON THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!

it was good, but can't say it was that great

the nats getting knocked out in game 5 was the highlight of this year's postseason

Are you niggers really gonna try and compare this to 1991 or 2001? The GOAT eries'?

Can we all agree that 2015 was one of the most boring ones in recent history?

Out of like 150+ times a team was down 0-3 in a best of 7 seven until then only w tans had every come back to win and those were hockey teams, it had never happened in baseball.

>tfw over 25

this is what i do with my lunch

i don't really think cleveland blew anything. the largest lead they had in these 3 last games was 1 run in the very begining of game 5.

they had a depleted pitching staff and although their offense was pretty good overall (scored in every game), nothing was stopping the cubs bats when they got hot.

I don't think the dust has really settled yet. Ask again in a month or two.

Only 2 teams had ever come back*
My autocorrect went full retard there

It had fantastic games 1 and 5

2012 and 2010 were way worse

Twins fan and Yankee hater here.

Yes, this series is on a par with '91 and '01. For the reasons given in .

You had to be there lads

props to the cubs l guess

I'm 36.

2014 was better than this one honestly

>tfw >we delayed this

Cleveland only took games 3 & 4 because the Cubs' bats went absolutely quiet, which also happened to them against the Dodgers in the NLCS. Cubs were overwhelmingly the favorites, but the media narrative made them look like the underdogs because of history, which is fair - imagine generations and generations of fans never seeing the mountain top. Indians weren't gonna close the door I knew it.

t. Jints fan

It'll be considered "One of the better" WS

But will definitely have the title of best game 7 ever.

It really was amazing how the Giants killed any enjoyment in a World Series

1991 2011 Still come to mind, but this series had it all really.

Far and away the best game seven since Mazerowski dingered and won the series

>yfw over 25
>engaged
>9 to 5 job

There is no escape

>amerifats conveniently forgetting 1993

What's with the old man memes?

this right here. 3 games went to extra innings. game 7 was a nail biter 0-1 10 inning game

I was there

it was lots of fun, glad I could chug beer in the street and the cops didn't give a fuck

If we're talking postseason series, however, then Sox-Yanks 04 takes the cake.

I don't know if the best, but it was the first one that made Sup Forums care about baseball.

Triggered by people talking about stuff that's out of your realm of knowledge? Now go Google your heart out on baseball in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, so you can come back and try to prove that you're not 17.

>Korea
>Having any opinion on baseball

I mean ffs Japan is better than you at baseball

It wasn't the best series of all time for sure, but that was by far the best game 7 in recent memory.

>favorites win

Can't be top 3

>literally just wrote a players name
Ahh yes I'm sorry thanks for imparting your vast knowledge of previous WS.

cops gave no fucks. as long as you werent breaking shit no one cared. And when I woke up this morning the street was clean. pretty amazing how fast they cleaned

All of the San Francisco Giants recent championships were far superior to this trash

alright faggot lol

Every game was a Blowout except the last so no. Cards Texas was better

>Winning 1 to 0
>Blowout

Pick one faggot. At least pretend like you understand what pitchers battling it out is

>heavy favorite dicks around a little before finally stomping the crippled underdog

Reminder that Cubs are the new Red Sox and you will all hate them in 5 years if you don't already

>2001
>actual game winning blooper by team hero to take home first major league championship in any sport
>not fucking goat
jesus

1991 was the greatest eries of all time.

That was a shit Series senpai. Mets errors and sloppy play practically gift-wrapped it to KC. Outside of Mets and Royals fans this Series is already forgotten.

Yes. GOAT sports game as well.

>bad guys won
Sure ok bub. Cards were underdogs in every postseason series that year.

WE WILL SEE YOU TOMORROW NIGHT
