Record Store Day 2017

Happy RSD 2017! Post your collections, favorite records, and RSD pick ups!

Remember, some artists are just cashgrabbing and dont bother having proper mixes made, check online before buying a new release!

Going to a record fair today since none of the stores here actually participate on it. Hope I can find some good shit, but I wish I could find the AnCo ep regardless

What's the best place to go for used vinyl in Portland

RSD was easy enough when back at home when I only had three record stores to choose from, but Portland has like 50 of them and in my experience they range from lackluster to just plain daunting

2nd Avenue in my experience.

Gonna go look for AnCo cuz my town doesn't care about anything other than Grateful Dead and Dave Matthews

This years released kinda suck
Probably gonna pickup the Robert Johnson centennial recordings reissue and maybe the marcy playground release

'preciate it, I haven't been to any of the downtown offerings yet and today's a good day to try them

Bruh I cant find ANY dead here. is it prices well? I want terrapin station sk bad but not at the 60 bucks my shop said they could get it for me at.

Who /denver/ here? Heading to Black and Read after work today to see what's left

I did a lot of searching to find this. Finally paid off

got:
anco
vic chessnut
spoon
and iron & wine

im pretty happy with it all

>Local record store Electric Fetus
>Not many deals at all
meh.mp3

Anyone have a shop to recommend in pittsburgh? I heard jerrys sucks on rsd because his new stock disappears instantly

...

What's up with that Brain Salad Surgery 7"?

Got my eyes set on AnCo and The Offspring.
Only problem is there are two different record stores in my town, a hip and trendy one (Probably will have anco) and one that sells classic rock and jazz (probably will have Offspring)

What do

GOLDIE M8

Offspring of course

Here's today's haul. Was queuing from 6am this morning with a couple of friends.

Anyone here in the New England area? Know of any good record stores around that aren't Newbury Comics?

picked these up in Crouch End, along with Wildflower as a birthday present for my dad. Wanted Heart of the Congos and the Lindstrom/Erot split too but I showed up late and they were gone at every place I checked.

Was able to snab the last Danny Brown picture disk. Pretty disappointed that there was only one copy of the anco EP at the place I went.

Grabbed Donuts as well since that's been on my want list for a bit now.

my haul

anybody got the sex pistols box?
willing to trade

I've lost the drive to go out and try to actually get shit on RSD, every past year has been me getting one or two things I'm just kind of lukewarm on so I feel like I didn't waste my time, while everything I truly wanted is already gone at all local record stores and is already being scalped on Discogs

I stayed home and bought the Narkopop vinyl box set on Amazon

help me out dudes. i want to start my collection soon but i need to choose the right TT. I'd like to know your opinion on pic related (numark pt01 usb).

i know you can rip your vinyls with this too, so that's a plus.

comments would be appreciated.

>Buying the seer vinyl
..user....

The stash - also wanted Popol Vuh, Klaus Dinger, and the Close to the Noise Floor comp but they were out :/

this, the flow of the album is completely ruined

kill you're shelves

>calling records vinyl

>3 (THREE) picturediscs

>tfw pre-ordered the album when it was released
user... i didn't know...

RSD is getting weaker and weaker. This year featured a ton of flippers pre-selling in lots, though, which is hilarious:

gripsweat.com/search/?query=rsd 2017&page=1&sort_by=price

Fuck vinyl, there's only two stores in my city and they just sell p4kcore new releases and shit reissues, also overpriced as fuck,
fuck those hipster owners, thinking in starting my own place to sell vinyl in my backyard on weekends desu

>he calls it vinyl
also: just get it from discogs, lad. i am just very lucky that i have a record store in my area which sells really cheap punk albums where i buy most of my stuff.

The flippers were out in full force here, half of the people who came early were busy on eBay with their phones, grabbing all copies of Blade Runner, RHCP Go Robot, and pretty much all the picture discs. One asshat grabbed all the anco in one shot. I went mostly for the half priced used stuff anyway but it's a joke now.

I'm not very happy.

Barely snagged the last copy. The only thing I wanted.

here's the stuff i bought today

I got a near-mint Nas single for 3 dollars

have you listened to it yet? I'm not at home to listen to mine

When i heard about it i was excited then i realized it was a scheme created by the jews to make them money so i decided not to impulse buy

You fucked up, you got the inferior pressing. The RSD repress is missing one song. I was interested until I saw that they cut off a track.

USB turntables are always crap.
you'd be wise to get a normal one. and with normal i mean 1980's era, or something like a pro-ject.
not a crossley or one of those retro-looking shits. not a soundburger or anything with a non-replacable cartridge.
nothing that doesn't have a counterweight (exception being linear turntables, such as the Technics SL-7)

if you want to rip your records, use line in on your computer, get a recording device (i use a zoom H4n), or get a phono amp with record function (ART Pro Audio for example has one)

...

did anyone get the RSD bags (not the RTJ tote bag)

I manages to pick up the Vangelis OST for ~$25

Ive been searching for it for 3 years

also got a jelly Roll Morton dixieland album, and almost bought the johnny cash xmas album

Allen Toussaint Collection
10/10

>Supporting big companies to make them more rich by buying overpriced, obsolete music formats.

ain't got a pic but my cops today were:

Francoise Hardy S/T
Meeting Of The Waters
Ágætis Byrjun
Thick As A Brick

how about that

...

sorry for the glare

got the records i wanted from rsd plus a bunch of freebies, went to a few record stores and looked around but everything was too expensive

>tfw the dude at my record store will reserve me any RSD release and sell it to me early but I didn't want anything
Grabbed these used memes from a record show. The Coil is UK original press and the Vuh is an '81 reissue.

vinyl is the only remaining analogue format. you could literally play it with a bend piece of paper.
now with WWIII on its way, i feel like analogue is the way to go...

I got myself some good stuff for decent prices.
3 Mike Oldfields + Spingsteen's Nebraska.
The left 3 are some random bleeps for dirt cheap.
Alphabet Town presents Gee Traxx (4 tech house tracks, they're good for the most part)
Bowman and Poole - s/t (some IDM + post-rock fusion. thought it'd be better, but still okay.)
Space Raiders - Glam Ride (Breakbeat Big Beat for people that don't like Breakbeat, it was the least impressive here.)

I should rip them and share on the sharethread, can't find any downloads for them so far.

Got what I wanted, in LA of all places. Im lucky to live near some small shops. Fuck going to Ameoba

i wish i had an amoeba near me at least it actually has a decent variety even if it is a capitalist hellscape

Oh i love it there but if there was a line at my small record store id imagine on RSD ameoba is insane, im not down for that. Plus cool guy owner was handing out free donuts and coffee and everyone was really chill. First RSD was a good time

I got this. Extremely satisfied.

Was looking for the anco ep, they didn't have it but I did pick this up

...

...

damn did you blow all of your allowance on that

I picked up a copy of Gold Panda's Kingdom EP, Sun Ra's Discipline 27-II, and a 10" Frank Zappa single featuring Rollo on side A and a live improv on side B. All of which were released especially for RSD 2017.

I also found a new copy of Caribou's Milk of Human Kindness from RSD 2013. Printed on to orange vinyl and limited to 600 copies.

I almost picked up Electric Wizard's Dopethrone but I stopped myself cause I was already spending more than I wanted too though it's likely I'll cave and end up picking it up sometime next week.

Super happy with my pickups.

Total cost: $200

I heard there was an extended Welcome to the Show on the vinyl version of Donuts because the album doesn't loop. Can you verify, user?

Just copped Beach House's Devotion and am having my guy look into a couple QotSA releases for me (Rated R and Lullabies)

Couldn't find Marianne Faithfull's Rich Kid Blues and I didn't even know Distiller's Coral Fang was on RSD until I came home fuck, so nothing for me from there. Was too lazy to keep searching so hopefully I can at least find Marianne online tomorrow

Didn't wanna leave empty handed so I picked up Hole's Pretty On The Inside

the other thread is dying so I'll post it in this one too

is the Heaven Adores you soundtrack worth it?

Is their anything on there that isn't on Grand Mal rarities?

I got Go Robot by Red Hot Chili Peppers today. I planned on getting Offspring self titled today but by the time I got to go inside the store. Looking at the regular releases I noticed something rare for about half the online price, Relationship of Command by At the Drive In for $30. I didn't have the money on me for both because I was planning on just getting one RSD record and nothing else. Once I can afford it, I'm going right back to see if it's still there.

To the asshole ahead of me that grabbed every copy of Bowie's Cracked Actor, I hope you get fucked by a bull moose.

Otherwise grabbed Alice in Chains, Claypool Lennon Delirium, Rush, U2 and the other Bowie release.

One side of a picture disc sounds like absolute shit. Non stop fuzzy the entire way through. But the reverse does not. How is this?

my local store only had one copy of The Offspring and it was sold before I was at the front of the line to enter the store

Record store day is kinda dumb desu, as long as you aren't after some pleb hand, you can usually find what you wanted the day after in store

of what picture disc?

Got American Psycho out of the free bin when I made 2+ purchases

Hows the claypool? I was considering going back in to see if i could nab it

Great covers that have a lot of the Claypool personality, bonus points for it coming with a download card for all four tracks in 320 kbps.

Amoeba in sf is good - black lady spinning oldies R&B

of the 2017 rsd exclusives i just got spoons single

wanted the smiths and vangelis :(

I had the chance to get the Blade runner ost but didn't. I'm not a fan of picture discs honestly but I'm kinda regretting it now

I got The Smith's album and Rush album from "Vinyl Bay 777"

RATM evil empire, AIC unplugged, and American Psycho came from "Infinity Records"

both independently owned businesses

Chimaira - Infection

Some dumb cunts thought it was a good idea to glue the download card directly on the vinyl itself. Couldn't get it to come off with just distilled water or vinyl cleaner so I had to use lighter fluid.

while i was there though i also grabbed
cocteau twins - the pink opaque
elliott smith - either/or versions 7"

fuuuuuuuhk
That's a shame. Hope it's not ruined.

Front seems ruined desu. Which is the side that has the track I like the most unfortunately

same here. i had it in my hands and put it back. should have just gone for it. if i wouldn't have liked it i could have always sold it for same price online...

Got these today. Glad I was able to get the limited Sunny Day Real Estate clear vinyl. It was the last one. The tube is a "Heroes" poster I got for $6.

i don't understand why they allow for more than 2 of the same per customer.
I was lucky that the 2nd record store i went to still had it.

Didn't get any RSD special releases, but I grabbed some stuff at my local store's 30% off sale. I never thought I would ever actually see a physical copy of Fall of Troy - Phantom on the Horizon on CD. I can't remember the last time I grabbed a CD off of the shelf so damn quickly. The regular price the store had it going for was $12, while the ones on Discogs start at $50. Score.

The store I went to just put people on a "5 RSD items per transaction" limit, so someone could get 5 of the same album if they wanted

Not too concerned, since I'm fully expecting Cracked Actor to show up on CD in a few months.

My local store allowed no duplicate purchases. Fair enough and it bothers me none as I'm no flipper.

RSD is a scam tbqh family

youtube.com/watch?v=V7DDEybm3Gc

that sucks that they only had them upside down at your record store, mine were all right side up

pls no bully, I am but a humble phoneposter

Reissue of a promo flexi disc that has the song 'Brain Salad Surgery' (not on the album) and a condensed 5-minute mix of the album on the b-side.
P rare desu

This is all I could get from the battlefield. Bummed out I couldn't get the AnCo one but apparently there were barely any available here to begin with.

i feel empty all of a sudden

>be me
>live in big city
>arrive at 6:00 to get in line at biggest record store
>nobody's there
>phew.exe
>fast forward to 8:00
>only 10 people
>mfw
>got everything i wanted except for popol vuh, which they didn't have
Is RSD dead? Not that I'm complaining desu
