Ask a fag, who spent almost $700 and waited 9 1/2 weeks for this sword, anything

And view of the blade

testing some shit ignore this

oh but your sword is gay

Can I see your ass hole?

why...

did it come with a wooden mustard spoon?

Up for a match of crusades?

Do you even know how to use that? Or just a collector?

How fat are you, OP?

>buying sword

Why are you such a beta fag? Real men make their own swords

Do you even HEMA?

I hope you realise OP, that fine blade will be used in the retaking of Constantinople

Kek Vult

is it albion? if not, why not?

Does it matches your fedora?

What do you imagine a vagina feels like

Why no Katana ?

Show US ur edgy photo with that sword so we have mats for the cringe thread

With or with out the sword in it?

Because, it's a fucking sword, who does not want a sword... I also got a $300 Katana 7 years ago when I was a fucking weab

I only wish it did, but it did come with a belt and suspension straps for carrying the sword.

Hell yeah

It's not that hard to "use" just don't be stupid, keep the edge aligned with your target, and step and rotate with the swing. Cutting shit like bottles is pretty fun and easy with a little practice... as for like HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), No I've not done any training, I plan on trying it at some point.

The german longsword is a great weapon tho

does it english?

Dat factory dulled edge.

Cute. Why did you spend that much on an ornament?

Looks fine. Valiant Rhinelander, Hand hammer forged diamond cross-section carbon steel blade, Sharpened,
Macassar ebony wood handle, Solid steel wheel pommel
S-curve steel guard
Fully functional
Long blade with great balance
Blade: 37"
Handle: 7 1/2"
Overall: 45"
Weight: 4 Lbs 12 Oz
Cross guard: 9"
Has a rat-tail tang, but almost everything does these days. Don't go slamming it into trees or anything, and enjoy. A man should own a sword.

Sweet katana dude, does it match your fedora?
Does your GM give extra XP if you bring it to D&D night?
With that for defense no woman will take your virginity. You can finally feel safe.
I found a picture of you from the future.
So this is how you justify camping alone with men in the woods.
Good luck with your +27 hobbit slaying sword.

good job, you looked up the manufacturers specs trying to look intelligent.

I got a buddy who bought a sword like that for around the same. Hemastrong on YouTube. Shit looks intense. It's actually a sanctioned form of fencing utilizing training derived from historic translations of European manuscripts.

Awesome man, you hang that on your wall and people will know how serious you about your virginity.

If is is +27 hobbit slaying do not try shaving with it as even the slightest nick could kill you.

Gotta be honest that's pretty gay

It's a nice sword, I'll give you that.
But the engraving gives you no tactical advantage whatsoever.
Unless you were planning to auction it off as a collector's item.
And you're forgetting one more very basic thing...
You don't have what it takes to kill me.

>fencing
>derived from real manuscripts
pick one

No, I looked up the specs because OP said nothing about the sword and I was curious. I pasted them in case anyone here was also curious and not just here to be a dick. Did you think I was pretending I owned one, or could magically tell all that at a glance?

About 6'2" and 255, I've actually lost 30lb over the past year, and losing more. I have been jogging and eating less, tired of being a whale.

I've made a knife or two before, but sword making if fucking hard.

Nope not yet, plan on it at some point, there is a group that meats near me every weekend.

Nope, look at File name... Albions are fucking expensive, and don't even come with a sheath. This sword costs $648 (before tax and shipping), Albions START at $880, with a few exceptions. Albions are "better" but more expensive and have a 9 month waiting period.

Sorry don't have a fedora

I don't need to imagine, luckily I have a gf that puts up with this shit.

I also own a Katana, it's a Hanwei Raptor.

When I meant know how to use, I meant any HEMA training. I'm a HEMA fag myself, know Italian and German tradition. Been at it for about 3 years. It's fun, you should find a group.

That pommel looks like a hand destroyer without gloves though.

If you want a good synthetic to practice with, get a Pentii from Purple Heart Armoury.

>historic translations of European manuscripts.
Like The Homo Sutra!

Wouldn't a karambit be cheaper OP?

Not OP but yea I HEMA, and don't own real sword with blade only trainers.

Will buy real sword one day but want custom job, so gotta save for that shit. At least I'll know how to use it when I get it though.

So we're supposed to find that photo cringeworthy? He looks like a badass fun grandpa to me. That's what I'm aiming for, and I already have two kids.

Looks like a valiant armoury Rhineland, also Albion a overpriced.

If its for display, why isn,t it Forstmourne? and if its for functionality, why isnt it Coldsteel?

It's not dull, not as sharp as I would want, but I will fix that. It does have a "v" bevel if that is what you mean.

Love that photo

I think you are thinking of HEMA

You are probably right

Pic related is my other sword (Hanwei Rapotor) and some Cold Steel Swordchetes I own.

It's the dog that sells that pic. You've defeated your own purpose.

Looks like it would work well for kebab removal.

That's what I said. He is involved with hema and competes. He posts his tournaments under the name Hemastrong on YouTube.

i actually just ordered on too and im waiting on it. i got the ronin katana two handed longsword. this is my first one and im pretty excited

Yeah there is a group near me... I've yet to do any cutting with this one (just got it yesterday), but the pommel is not as bad as it looks. The points a pretty well rounded... The Cross guard though, I may have to sand down the hilt side points though, they are pretty sharp. I'm thinking of getting a Feder (Either Regenyei or a few other brands) and a Purple Heart Synthetic.

I really like Cold Steel folders, fixedblades, and machetes, I own quite a few, but their swords are shit tier. They are notorious for having loss guards and/or being over weight crow bars.

>>homo sutra
>>bastardization of kama sutra
>>Indian
>>not European

This fucking guy!

What would drive you to take your own life?

OP here
Oh yeah, I like Ronin Katana, they are having their factory second sale right now, and only do to the threats of my gf, I managed to not buy something.

I'm really looking at their Kriegsmesser, even though it's not actually a Messer and instead a Falchion. I just wish they did the cord wrap handle and not the atrocious stitched handle.

Sonny makes great pieces. I've owned a few of his Practical/Signature swords.

Right now my only piece is an Angus Trim.

...

Those are pretty shitty and I'm gonna be honest, I don't like the crossguard or the hilt of the one in your OP either.

I think your knowledge has grown and from what I'm reading, the Rhinelander fits fairly typically within historical specifications and the oakeshott XIIa is a tasteful choice...

that been said, it's a huge fucking waste of money and I think it's ugly. that's just me, though.

You could do better for $700, or have put it towards splitting the difference between something better you'll want down the line.

I can't see you justifying that purchase to yourself five years from now, but if you think I'm wrong, then I'm happy for you.

OP here
I actually really wanted an A-trim I-beam (I think they are called), but he removed them. Idk when they will be back for order, but if they do come back, I may get one. After buying this Rhinelander, and a Cold Steel Chines War Sword Machete, and a Schrade Brush Sword (pic related) and I'm going to buy a $80 s35vn Kershaw Link in a bit... I'm low on blade funds.

The Pentii's are nice. I have a VB that's held up pretty well that I've been using. I had a feder, but I actually broke the tip off....

My friend's all have nice sharps, so I just borrow theirs if we're cutting anything. I don't feel like dropping that much money on blades. HEMA gear adds up enough, so I just stick with what I need really. If you do get into it, I suggest getting your own gambeson (the jacket), and maybe a mask. It's fucking gross when you share one with someone that's been sweating like a beast.

OP
Well I bought that Hanwei Katana 7 years ago now, and I'm still happy with it. I'm well aware those machetes aren't swords, hence why I call them swordchetes. I like them a lot because I actually use them for yard work and brush clearing, and I can do stupid stuff with them that I would not do with a real sword.

I think this was a good start into European swords for me... Yeah I could have saved up a bit longer and got a Albion, but I don't feel like waiting 9 months (I could hardly wait the 9 1/2 weeks for this), and I wanted a sheath, but not to pay $400+ for one. If I ever get an Albion, which I may, I'm just going to store them in a Pelican Rifle case. Like I do my knives (pic related)

when did you first realize you were gay?

Duke Nukem got old as fuck, but that won't stop him from going medieval on your ass

Good luck getting anything from Gus these days. He's been backlogged for years and years, and now he is focused on clearing that. The only new pieces you can get from him are extras that he produces to fill out batches of backorders. Those extras end up on KoA mostly.

I got very lucky buying my Atrim when I did. His prices and available work will probably never come close to what they were.

Yeah that's pretty much my plan, I have a fencing mask that fits me from when I did fencing years ago, but unfortunately it's foil, so it's not going to give me the protection I need for HEMA. And I have been looking around at gambesons, you have any brands you recommend?

I'm in to sharp blades. I love cutting. I got into swords because of my knife hobby, and I pay for all of it with knife sharpening.

Nut on the blade and write a timestamp in semen

OP, you're a total faggot.

First of all, ignoring the fact that you're a fat fuck who can't possibly swordfight worth shit... your bullshit little "I spent over $700 on a sword" post is meaningless to a true collector.

You wanna drop numbers? My oakshot XII, historically accurate 12th century european single handed long sword (The kind used by the Priest in I.33 (If you don't know what that is, fucking kill yourself)) is not some piece of shit Albion... it was forged by a man considered a master swordsmith for more than 30 years (Not 30 years of smithing, 30 years of being a master smith)

That ONE BLADE set me back $1,300 and it didn't even come with a scabbard.

WORTH. EVERY. PENNY.

I don't practice in the HEMA leagues, but I do practice. Most of my fighting friends are ACL (Armoured combat league) but I mess around for fun in the SCA.

I bet the balance is shit, the blade moves like crap, and 10 to 1 says I could take it from you bare handed.

Were you born this stupid or did you have to take lessons?

wtf that big dildo there

Maybe it's Maybelline.

Well I had a bit of a sexuality debate after my first big break up, it was with my highschool sweat heart, a human female, but now I find my self happy with another human female... A surprisingly not retarded (well she does frequent Sup Forums... so), nor disfigured one.

Yeah... I probably would end up just going for a Regenyei or Black Horse Feder or maybe a Albion Menstro longsword.

I fucked my boyfriend with a knife handle once. (I'm a gay guy, for reference). It was more a murder fantasy because I was pissed at him than sex, though.

Oh lord I don't know whether I want this to be autistically real or a perfectly crafted troll.

Wow OP, you may not be the biggest faggot in this thread after all

I have a SPES jacket, but be forewarned they're pricey. It's good protection, but it's heavy and cuts down on mobility a bit. It's a tradeoff: lighter equals faster but gives up extra protection, and vice versa.

Honestly, best bet would be to talk to the HEMA guys, or go on a HEMA forum. Sometimes HEMA groups can do a bulk order and you can get it cheaper.

The hardest thing to find are gloves. Steel rated gloves are $200+, but if you want some cheap ones if you're not going full force, full speed, Lacross gloves are the go to. Just buy a cheap pair from Play It Again Sports or somewhere.

OP here
Well this is a rare event, I'm normally a pretty big faggot.

What do you do for a living?

To be completely honest that sword looks amazing but no ones needs swords for any reason. Imo this is like collecting baseball cards. I don't see the point. But if you like it you like it, more power to you. My question is; is it actually sharp? Upload a video on youtube of you cutting shit.

See

>there is a group that meats near me every weekend.

i see what you did there

haha you could buy that piece of junk for 60 on amazon

Good advice, thanks. I think I'll just ask when I check out the local HEMA group. As for gloves, Skallgrim (YouTube) showed a hard plastic pair that looked really nice a few weeks ago, I may give them a try when I start doing HEMA.

Yeah, you just get shit over time. Really all you need to start are some cheap gloves and a practice sword.

Where do you live at OP? Just curious to see if I know any groups around you.

heat it to 1000 degrees

research the ketogenic diet OP, you might find it useful in your weight loss endeavor

The blade is harmonically balanced. The waveform coalesces at the striking point. The balance is beyond anything.

I've felt a $700 version of this blade... then I felt this one... and now I know where my dollars went.

I'm a engineering college fag. But in between I work landscaping (mostly driving trucks, trailers, tractors, machine maintenance, ect..) to help pay for school. All of my knives, swords, machetes, sharpening equipment, ect... is payed for by knife sharpening I do on the side.

Yes it is actually a sharp sword. And yeah there is not practical use, it's a hobby, I enjoy it. I'm also into knives, and I have a few thousand dollars of knives, at lest they are useful. As for a video, not really my thing, but if I ever do cutting videos, I guess I'll put some up here.

Correction, you could buy a piece of stainless steel screwed together junk on Amazon for $60.

Why? Do you use it? I've spent 700 on a gun, but i shoot it every weekend.

...

do you actually plan to use it (if so for what) or will it just be for display?

the sword is pretty gay by the way.

>single handed long sword
>single handed
>long sword

Terrible troll, but I guess made me reply so 2/10

There are single handed long swords... and single handed short swords... then there are various two handed swords.

Clearly you're not knowledgeable when it comes to sword types.

But, you got me to respond, so... 3/10

I recognize that sword. It's an Atrim from back when Tom K. was selling them through Tried & True Armory.

Excellent piece, but that was back when they were going for well under $1,000, let alone $1,300.

Also, if that even is yours, you should clean the rust off the blade before talking shit.

I live around Cherry Hill Nj. The closest group I've found meats in the town of Maple Shade, it's no more than a 20 or so minute drive for me.

Hate to break your bubble, but this is something that any half way decent $300 sword should get right... And Obviously a $1,300 sword is going to be better at it than my $700 one... But non the less, the point of harmonics of my sword are very good, the first node is right at the bottom of the cross guard and the second node is about 3/4ths of the way up the blade, which is right around the center of percussion for this sword, with a balance point of 4.75" from the guard.. this is a very well balanced and tuned sword.

kek, hitting down the trolls with logic.

No. Longsword, in reference to European swords, only talks about two-handed swords used in longsword manuals like Lichtenauer and Fiore.

The use of "longsword" in reference to a single handed European sword is mostly used in video games and fantasy, and is not a real thing to anyone worth their salt in the hobby. The correct term you are looking for is "arming sword."

There is no rust on the blade. The blade is so polished, it's reflecting the brown colour of the boxes surrounding it.

It's not an Atrim, nor is it from Tom K. Looks similar... but the difference is in the quality.

Ah, damn, don't really know any groups on the east coast (I'm in Colorado).

Well, good luck to ya! Maybe I'll see you at a tournament some day.

Yes it is going to hang on my wall, but I will do some basic backyard cutting, watter bottles and stuff, maybe some Tatami mats this summer. But I could do all of that just as well with far less expensive blades. I actually was kind of debating if I wanted a gun for the $700... But I have a good enough home defense gun, and I'm not planning to get into guns as a hobby just yet... for the sake of my wallet.

I second this, there are "long" arming swords, but they are still arming swords. Really, at lest in the common use of the terms among most sword enthusiasts it goes, Arming Sword, Hand&Half/Bastard, Longsword, then the two handed great swords.

can I have it?

Sorry, it's kind of my favorite object at the moment.

(pic related taken from website, I ran out of pics of my own)

>made a knife or two

Never made a fucking knife or two , thats not some shit you forget.

>There is no rust on the blade. The blade is so polished, it's reflecting the brown colour of the boxes surrounding it.
>opposite side of blade is also tarnished
>not an Atrim from Tom K.
>his grip work is clearly identifiable and nut securing hilt is clearly Gus's work

If you say so.

Well, it depends on the particular terminology you're referencing... but I'll take your point and admit I'm incorrect.

However, my understanding was that swords such as the gladius or others which are clearly longer than a knife/dagger but don't touch the ground are considered short swords... while swords which can not freely swing as they touch the ground were considered long swords.

However, it seems the current nomenclature agrees with you in that the modern convention of "long sword" refers to the "long handle" rather than length of the blade.

Tip of the hat.

...

Oh yeah?
I dropped five grand on a historically accurate longsword. Not to have it forged, but to have it recovered.
It was lodged in a fucking rock, m'kay? I paid five thousand US dollars to excavate it from the rock, and it was worth every god damn shekel. Upon studying it, I've found that it was made with European steel, which was the highest quality steel in the ancient world. Not only was it European, but it was made with Japanese techniques.
That's right.
That mother fucker was folded over seventeen thousand times, which means it's basically unbreakable.
On top of that, the carbon in the blade was super heated and put under pressure that shouldn't have been achievable back then, which means it basically has diamonds in the blade, making it even harder to break.
It also has symbols engraved on the scabbard, blade and pommel. Since I frequent /x/, I know that the symbols are binding runes, which means there might be a demon trapped in my blade.
I've paid thousands upon thousands of dollars to be privately trained in the use of this sword, so I'm like mother fucking John Wick but with a sword.
I've taken the liberty of naming the sword Brisingr until I can learn its real name.
GET ON MY FUCKING LEVEL YOU ABSOLUTE COCK MUNCHING FAGGOT

I said knife or two because I made one and helped my cousin make two.

The long, silver blade, wood handles, brass pins, knife on the left, mid way up, that is the knife I made. It's just out of mild steel, I did case harden it, but have since reground it which negated the hardening.

I have a bunch of 1095 laying around that I have yet to do anything with.

Psst you know today even with modern presses and foundries that steel can't be folded more than 500 times. In fact htere is no need to fold it more than 20 times as that is the best it will get. The reason for folding is to remove carbon as carbon makes a blade brittle. So maybe you should get your metallurgy down before you spout shit you have no clue of.

It's not tarnished, the fuller is blackened.

Seriously though, kudos on getting me to keep responding.

Honestly, I've forgotten the name of the swordsmith... so I can neither confirm nor deny your claim as to the craftsman's "signature" work.

However, having been a collector for more than 25 years... having practiced for hours per week for more than 25 years... having evaluated more swords than I can easily count... this one is phenomenal.

Are there better out there? Most likely.

Is OP's $700 blade one of them? No.

But kudo's on him for following his hobby... and most definitely a tip of the hat for paying for it all through knife sharpening.

Depending on where OP lives, I'd help him learn how to fight with it.
