If they had just released the uncut version in theaters, would things be different? Would be getting more capekino instead of Quip Fest: DC edition.

Before BvS was released the writer Chris Terrio already stated that the tone of JL would be lighter.

It would have made even less money due to the longer run time. That's all that would have changed.

People don't know what they want.
Fanboys bitch about everything because deep inside it's themselves they really loathe.

It'll be capekino. The trailer lead me to believe that and nothing else.
>That Excalibur-esque sequence
>Aquaman's intro

>inb4 muh tone

>I failed him in life...I won't fail him in death
>Superman's selfless sacrifice is the spark of Batman's rebirth into light and the dawn of a new golden age of heroism.
>Chris Terrio says this is the intention even before BvS releases
>Dawn of Justice...literally the night is darkest before the dawn.
>First picture of the Justice League features the sun rising in the background

Why are people claiming that Justice League being lighter is anything other than what was always intended? Are people really this dense?

Chris Terrio:
>At that moment, I thought, “I’m not done with this yet. I want to go back and keep telling the story.” “Batman v Superman” is a bit of an “Empire Strikes Back” or “Two Towers” or any similar middle film in a trilogy. The middle film tends to be the darkest one. I do think from “Man of Steel” through “Justice League,” it is one saga really.

>I expect “Justice League” will be tonally not quite as dark as “Batman v Superman.” From that point of view, I felt compelled to go back and try to lift us and myself into a different tonal place because I think when you write a darker film, sometimes you want to redeem it all a bit.

What's the difference between theater and ultimate edition?

Theatrical is the worst comic movie since Catwoman. UE is the third worst comic movie since Catwoman, passing Green Lantern.

Nothing really. Its still extremely bloated. Horrendously edited. Poorly cast. Baldly acted. Lazily written. Painstakingly dull. Unbelievably boring. Unnecessarily broody. Terribly paced. And that is just the first hour, there is still two more hours left.

The shear number of pointless subplots are simply staggering. Plot holes? You mean mystery elements. The fact that someone read the script and decided it was worthy of spending over 250 million to bring it to the screen boggles my mind. This is what happens when you take five different scripts that have no sense of correlation. Did editing and streamlining the story not cross anyone's mind.

The production is big on making terrible decisions and this is clearly evident in the casting. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther is laughably bad giving his rejected Social Network performance as twitching Mark Zuckerberg. Gal Gadot is by far the biggest miscast. Most people complained when she cast due to her poor physicality and zero resemblance to Wonder Woman. Those points are fine, but the biggest drawback is that she's frankly not a good actress. She has the emotional range of a potato. Her big reveal in costume is complete with a 'cool' guitar rift like it's some Robert Rodriguez film. During action scene she is replaced by her cgi double which obviously looks bigger and muscular in comparison to Gal Gadot's actual physical appearance. I just couldn't help by have a good chuckle at that.

The biggest misstep in the entire production is the appointment of Zack Snyder as director. It seem like he just walked of the set of making Watchmen and nobody seemed to tell him that he wasn't contracted to direct a lackluster patchwork Watchmen sequel. An opening scene that features Jeffrey Dean Morgan being killed with a slo-mo shot of a shell casing exiting a gun; the government against masked vigilantes, a powerful god-like superhuman figure; a man that dresses in a black costume and fights crime with gadgets coming out of retirement; the death of a famous hero; not one, but three funeral scenes. How is this not recycling elements of Watchmen.

Zack Snyder has the inability to direct scenes where no action takes place and he can't mask it with stylish cgi backgrounds like he did in 300. Simply put when there's no explosions it dull and boring. Simple character interactions prove to be a struggle for a director who still gets his philosophy for his movies from teenage web forums. Religious references that completely lack subtlety and elegance doesn't make you movie 'intellectual'.

Other grievances include: a scene and a plot point that revolves around urine; Lex Luther's so called evil plan; Knightmare; a hyped fight that just ends up being a normal fistfight; and actual teaser trailers for future movies in the franchise.

Other than that Lex scene near the end, what else was different?

>Baldly acted

Lex is still garbage.
The "Batman's dream vision" sequence is still unnecessary.
The JLA setup scenes are still jarringly inserted in.
Wonder Woman still has zero development and is just pasted in to set her up for other movies.

Generally speaking the whole approach is flawed.
In MCU most, if not all, superheroes were previously established by the time Avengers rolled out. Even the primary villain in the movie, Loki, was previously established.

In BvS Superman had a previous movie where he was a reluctant autist and it was a first showing for Batman, Wonder Woman, Lex and all the other cameos.
And considering how uncharismatic Superman is the whole thing ends up just being weird.
It's like they're trying to do a serious movie but the elements just don't add up.
Also an additional problem is that Snyder is still in his Watchmen mode of directing where the only mood anyone has is "depressed".
The yet another DBZ final segment with the entire landscape being reduced to rubble is yet another poor choice

Oh yes, let's not forget that in his first DCU showing Batman is already in his DKR mode, Superman in his second movie is already in his Death of Superman mode and the JLA doesn't even exist.
The entire thing is just poor choices stacked into an unsound whole.

it would've made 20% less money on the opening weekend due to being half an hour longer.

as that's the actual reason they cut half an hour.

As they knew it was dogshit, but they wanted to get as many screenings as possible before people were able to tell people it was dogshit.

The uncut version is still trash, so no.

fuck no

Batman v Superman is so bad DC may have tanked their entire cinematic universe already.

You can bet your asses WB Exec's are fucking terrified that Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman might flop. Batman v Superman's gross was frontloaded as fuck and dropped HARD, only meeting the absolute bare minimum of box office expectations. It was entirely sold on hype and goodwill from fans, and the movie was complete shit, and everyone knows it. Everyone saw that Sad Affleck meme video, and the cultural consensus is, by and large, that BvS sucked. Is anyone really excited for Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman? Even fucking Justice League? Do normies know that movie is coming out? They're already a billion in the hole for this franchise, and it's not taking off like they hoped it would.

> Its still extremely bloated. Horrendously edited. Poorly cast. Baldly acted. Lazily written. Painstakingly dull. Unbelievably boring. Unnecessarily broody. Terribly paced

>There are people here that believe this is good criticism

t. RLM drone

I called this shit back when Mortal Kombat vs DCU was coming out back in 2008. The lineup of the Justice League is so boring and corny to the average person. Batman is the only good character they have that appeals to literally everyone, because he's a human without powers like Captain America. DC's stable of characters are heroes that appeal to fucking dweebs. Marvel's appeal to normal people. Everyone likes Spider-Man because everyone went through what Peter Parker did in school. We can relate. We can't relate to an alien with no flaws. Superman was cool back in the 40s because WHOA! HE CAN DO ANYTHING! like Hercules, but Hercules at least fought Cerberus and Minotaurs and shit.

Let's be fair, Marvel's characters weren't too appealing either.

BUT, the difference is that they MADE Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America into well-written human beings that people can relate to.

Nobody can relate to current Superman or especially Wonder Woman and I doubt that'll change for Aquaman and especially Cyborg.

Suicide Squad might have a chance, but Wonder Woman is doomed. Nobody cares about female superheroes outside of feminists, and Gadot cannot carry a movie.

You still would have had "not muh everybody" complaints and people would've still been confused about the simplest shit since the movie is long.

It's hard to say how exactly the reception would've been different. Tons of critics got hung up over the editing and that was basically fixed, so...

probably would've gotten maybe a 41% instead of 27%

Marvel's best characters are Spider-Man, Venom, Captain America, Wolverine, and Hulk. All of those characters are badass to normies and comic nerds alike. The fact that Marvel made Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, and fucking Ant-Man relevant and starring in good movies speaks to the talent they have.

>WAHHHH I CANT RELATE WAHHHH

I guess Marvelcucks can't watch anything if they can't self-insert into someone like little children.

>Thor, GotG, Ant-Man
>good movies

Jesus get some standards.

Eh, I'm too tired from lifting to take this bait.
